Least it gives you the Easter long weekend to get everything in order to move. Maybe a spot of shopping for the new house? Have you brought much for the new place or waiting until your in? Oh yes it has a cracking effect, if I could of changed mine I would have after seeing yours. Great look forward to the pics on Monday, good tip from the tiler nice when they are on your side with some helpful advise. Wow that's great news, painting done and cleaning underway monday can't come soon enough. Very much looking forward to Wednesday so I can pack my self acting conveyancing hat away . M is very close now, once settlement has occurred I can provide proof of ownership for the final approval. I got our builders risk insurance letter in the mail today, that's got to be a good sign? Yes, I would have thought so too. At least everything isn't being done in a mad rush to get us in, after nearly 7 months in construction we can wait a couple more weeks to have it finished off nicely. We haven't done much shopping for the new house, we've been busy organising some of the items we excluded from the build. Although I am on the hunt for a large deep seated modular for the lounge room. Your kitchen is going to look fantastic, I'm still very envious of that window splash back. That's definitely a good sign! Sounds like M are just as keen to get out there as you. Shambini Just a word of warning regarding cleaning to manange your expectations. Can't wait to see it Monday! Are my expectations too high? I must say they have done a good job cleaning the windows. We've also paid extra to have the tiles washed more thoroughly to remove the wax coating on the titles. Re: Metricon Lincoln 29 Adelaide Hills - Finishing touches 763Mar 30, 2015 6:16 am Linc it's looking fantastic! Your kitchen bench is gorgeous and your tiles look amazing! What a winner of they saved you so much money too! Good luck with handover, even if it isn't when you expected, it'll still be super exciting! Are you sealing the grout on your tiles? We didnt even think about sealing our tiles. The 'tile experts' at beaumont tiles did not inform us. We were actually aware of the need to seal tiles (especially stone) but forgot about it with everything that was happening at the time. Luckily our M tiler contacted me to ask about sealing the tiles. Our tiles need to be sealed twice, before and after grout. Sealing tiles cost around $15 to $20 per sqm. Our PCI will still go ahead today with a new supervisor and Metricon will have to foot the bill for our lengthy private inspection. What the hell happened? I agree completely that they should of let you know he was resigning and what the new process would be. Thank goodness your still getting PCI today, good on you for giving them the bill they should of communicated in a precise and professional manner. Re: Metricon Lincoln 29 Adelaide Hills - Finishing touches 770Mar 30, 2015 6:17 pm How did the pci end up going lincoln? That is the last thing you need at PCI. Glad it went ahead, but that's no fun for you. Communication makes such a difference, I wish builders understood this better. Re: Metricon Lincoln 29 Adelaide Hills - Finishing touches 772Mar 30, 2015 9:06 pm I won't go into any details on the forum. Our Sales consultant, CSC and SS no longer work for M, we are feeling very lonely now. We should have a new SS assigned to our build this week. Today ended up being 2.5 hours walkthrough with a supervisor to identify what trades will need to be scheduled to finish our build. Fortunately M are happy to work with us to ensure that all the promises our previous SS made are fulfilled, as well as fixing up some issues that we were previously told wouldn't be fixed. Already this supervisor has a keener eye for detail and quality, which may just turn out to be a blessing in disguise. As we weren't given the opportunity to test anything or mark up imperfections we'll be requesting another inspection prior to handover. The list after today. The painting is very rough inside and another coat is required on almost every wall. Holes in wall/ceiling to be patched. Broken tiles will be replaced. Ensuite niche will be redone! With mitred edges, like we asked for! Silicone Brickwork will be washed - previously only maybe 1/6 complete Discoloured bricks will be treated. Broken bricks and wonky window sills will be replaced. All external painting and staining will need to be redone. Expansion joints in brickwork needs sealing. Infill over the rear feature window. Install missing conduit in the media alcove Install missing light fittings Fix water pressure in the kitchen Site clean! We still haven't had one since we started onsite. We cannot wait to see the backyard without that nasty pile of soil leftover from our trenches. Site clean also means they'll be removing all of that horrible "all-weather-access rubble" that's been scattered around the house for months. Taking photos today was the last thing on our mind, here are a few from over the weekend/after the builders clean. New and improved portico beam Master bedroom Ensuite (missing lights over the vanities) Dining and Kitchen Dining feature window Living room Laundry Main bathroom Hallway niche - Mr Lincoln has ask for a sensor to be installed to trigger this light M will repaint the pillars if we can decide on a Dulux colour we like. To help vent off some of our frustration we took to the pillars with some paint. Dulux White duck (left) and Bear Claw (right) are off the list. Too light? If anyone has an eye for colour we'd love to hear some suggestions. Re: Metricon Lincoln 29 Adelaide Hills - Finishing touches 773Mar 30, 2015 9:17 pm Sounds very frustrating Lincoln. The house still looks lovely and Im sure you will soon forget about all the headaches once you are living in the house. Good on you for having the optimism that everything will be finished and to a far higher standard than first anticipated. I'm a glass half full kind of lady too. They have a rather large list of tasks to complete but the quality after completion will be outstanding. All the photos look beautiful linc, love the tile splash back they look stunning, they go beautifully with the kitchen colours. Great news about your tiled niche too. What about silkwort for the dulux colour, it's a little darker than white duck with a grey under tone. Re: Metricon Lincoln 29 Adelaide Hills - Finishing touches 775Mar 31, 2015 8:03 pm Love your portico! Everything is looking great, you must be hanging to move in! Your ensuit is stunning too. You have lovely taste! Your list from PCI is not dissimilar to what ours was. Lots of things to fix but seems to be about on par with everyone else at PCI. Sorry you've had a rough finish through being deserted, that must be a bit hard to take. At least your house is gorgeous and you're nearly there. Good luck with finalities!! Re: Metricon Lincoln 29 Adelaide Hills - Finishing touches 776Mar 31, 2015 8:40 pm Thank Shambini and Tribe. We are extremely frustrated, although we can appreciate M is trying to work with us to ensure we are happy with our house. We received a letter today with the contact details of our new SS, we'll give him a call tomorrow and try and get things moving again. We have arranged some additional work to be done at the same time as the rest of the second fix electrical, so at least we know that something is still scheduled to happen this week. We are trying to stay positive. Yesterday was the first time we were able to have a conversation and come up with a date that seemed achievable, hopefully our new SS is also on board with this as well. Thanks for the recommendation Tribe I picked up a few sample cards today. Silkwork looks a tad too grey on the card, but it works really well with our colours. Charlston01 Love your portico! Was your builder able to complete most of what was on your PCI list? Your house looks beautiful! All the best with handover tomorrow! Most items on the list look they likely would take more than a day or two for any one trade. My only issue is, yesterday wasn't really a formal PCI, we have nothing in writing that any of the items would be complete. This supervisor noted our concerns on his notepad and now we'll be dealing with someone else again. Re: Metricon Lincoln 29 Adelaide Hills - Finishing touches 777Mar 31, 2015 11:25 pm Looks fantastic I love the 'Bear Claw' pillar. I think it's a lovely contrast to your door, window frames and timber porch beam. And it's in harmony with your roof and garage door. Bear claw ... Grrr rrrr rrrr-eat Thanks TomCat Bear Claw is a Berger colour, not sure if we'll be allowed to select it. We've found a slightly darker Dulux colour, Stony Creek. Looks like it's going to be either one of these colours. Charlston01 Wow! Your external colours are gorgeous!! I know you are worries about not enough contrast, but I still reckon it looks great! Sorry you won't be in for Easter, but hopefully the easter bunny will brings those keys as soon after easter as possible! Thanks Charlston I actually love the current render colour but the facade isn't orientated the right way to get away with it. We only managed to tick of second fix electrical from the list this week. All the electric appliances are in now, the missing light fittings have been installed. A light fitting and GPO have been removed from the rear of the house, I can only assume this means that the wonky down pipe will shifted. Looks like we are in for a busy couple of weeks. WA has a particular way of building and unfortunately that's the way a large amount of sills are finished. 3 7005 Even if it's not being sub-divided and you want to keep it as Torrens title, you will still need to talk to a town planner or Council themselves, to see if they will allow… 1 11035 Thanks again Simeon for being so elaborate.
