Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building on a rear strata lot 41Jul 29, 2014 2:12 am Thanks justy, I have not visited one display home and almost finalizing my plans... oops. I have 50% site coverage so there is not much I can do so I have to take the leap of faith and believe it will all work out Re: Building on a rear strata lot 42Jul 29, 2014 11:29 am Yep there's a lot of leaps of faith in a rear strata build I'm learning! The worst part is that's its hard to have a quick look at what's happening because it's behind another house! haha! Building with 101 Residential Rear Strata in Queens Park Our Build thread - https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=72336 Re: Building on a rear strata lot 43Aug 02, 2014 2:50 am please don't scare me, its all daunting already. I wish I could fast forward time to complete build and I have not even finalized my plans... land settlement in 6 days... I have now decided to switch kitchen with dining to hopefully let in more light.... back to drawing boards... Re: Building on a rear strata lot 44Aug 08, 2014 2:56 am Land settled, builder doing initial survey and I am hoping to finalise house plans in next 2 weeks. I thought I'd celebrate and then I looked at my bank account and see how much I owe and I think I'll just enjoy cup of coffee Re: Building on a rear strata lot 46Jan 16, 2015 10:26 pm I think it's time to update this thread. I have settled finally on builder and chose Redink as their sales guy was probably the best I have met and spoken and very responsive to all my enquiries. Since I have never built before I also had no idea about half of the words used describing building process... Well we finalised custom design Mid October after me trying to make the house the most perfect house ever LOL and finally signed on some minor changes that came up with drafting mid November and signed PCQ. I have signed the Building Contract on 22 December and had a Prestart on 6th January. Again because I am working FIFO my partner did a bit of the Prestart meeting however as I have realised the tile re selection wasn't done and updated I am now waiting on this to be updated and hopefully will receive updates by Monday. There were high costs to be considered such as following upgrades Shower heads Wall hung toilet Full tiling in ensuite Wash basins Full house rendering Waterfall Soakwells All came in to about 20k without doing any electric upgrades as I am unable to actually figure out what I want and in which location. I just want to move on so will probably end up having electric stuff redone once I moved in. Upgrades Better shower head Toilets Wash basins Ensuite full height tiles Waterfall And will chose own splashback provider Soakwells Paver Additional electric upgrades after handover Any suggestions on what I should do with the electrical plan now at Prestart or after handover? Re: Building on a rear strata lot 47Feb 23, 2015 1:01 am BMWorld you've probably done this now long ago - sorry I've not been around earlier. I've heard it is much cheaper to do this as part of the build rather than afterwards as they'd have to break into inside rendering etc. Although with the delays I've faced getting it right you may have a point re just wanting to move on/in! Hope all is going well for you Hi All, see above image. The required setback from the rear boundary in my case is 5m, as you can see the shape of the site and location of the boundary is slightly… 0 8459 Would anyone on this forum know of a builder/company in Brisbane with house designs for a shallow block.
