I'm confused... what makes you think building with a big builder means you will deal with lots of different people? My build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=68002 Re: Strata Living/ Summit? BEDFORD WA rear lot 28Jul 19, 2014 8:08 am
I'm confused... what makes you think building with a big builder means you will deal with lots of different people?
Somehow seems to be the consensus here... I'd be happy to stand corrected as first builder and kinda jumped on the building bandwagon as could not find a house I liked for the money I could afford. Found a decent block and just decided to bite the bullet without much research... It is hard to decide... On the other hand strata living proposed to get a survey done for $1000 and deduct from the final cost... Did not see great reviews on them though... Does anyone have Any experience with Strata Living?/ summit? Re: BEDFORD WA rear strata lot - struggling with design 29Jul 20, 2014 6:38 am I just spent three hours trying to figure out best layout and I do not think this flows well...grrr..
I know what I want - simple 3x2x2 with 2 main bedrooms on either side and additional office/3rd bedroom adjacent to one of the bedrooms as they would share bathroom if it gets to it/ when sold. Its just us two and our lil doggie. Any suggestions welcome... Not sure if you can see the pic: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Are you happy with Redink? BEDFORD WA rear lot 30Jul 21, 2014 9:20 pm clearly my drawing skills did not impress anyone. I suppose you would not know what is where. I am quite happy as I have finally got the builders designer to do the sketch based on my drawing so it finally looks like I am moving somewhere... will post it as soon as I can figure out how to do it.. Re: Are you happy with Redink? BEDFORD WA rear lot 31Jul 21, 2014 11:33 pm great area u chose. we are going to be neighbour. heheh Re: Are you happy with Redink? BEDFORD WA rear lot 32Jul 21, 2014 11:58 pm Yeah the pic is hard to work out. We had a few different meetings with builders - summit, redink, DA, gemmil, aveling, metro strata, Amano homes, ultimate homes I name a few. Someone else may be able to weigh in - but not sure if you will avoid the whole 'dealing with lots of ppl' thing?! Not sure. I would suggest meeting some of them and seeing what they say... If nothing else you get different opinions On what can go on your block and different points of view. Re: Are you happy with Redink? BEDFORD WA rear lot 33Jul 22, 2014 3:17 am Thanks NOR-TTJ, we are currently in Wilson and so I think Bedford is just a tad bit better for what we are after Thanks asj - Comparing the pic and the first sketch from the builder I can see the difference. I have been speaking to few so far(about 5) and I have to say some just did not seem to bother to reply or follow up... It is not easy as I am away so everything is being done on the phone and email at the moment...I am however happy with how my drawing was converted to initial sketch. Re: Building on a rear strata lot 35Jul 22, 2014 5:16 pm two master bedroom! look good! will be good for renting part out if you FIFO Re: Building on a rear strata lot 37Jul 23, 2014 11:35 am BMWorld thanks, I am trying to increase the size of living room and kitchen, so will have to make some changes It's a bit blurry, but what about this? Kitchen will need to shuffled around to fit the new space. Also, if you are allowed to go wider on the northern boundary (assuming north is up on page), I would. That gains you some extra living, laundry and bed2/bath2 space. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I think your current plan is a good base, just needs tweaking. Re: Building on a rear strata lot 38Jul 23, 2014 1:25 pm Thought of something else. Does the house need a bath? Baths are a strong selling/renting point for people with kids in particular. But this plan isn't really for families. I think you could ditch the bath, put a double shower in its place, shift the powder room to the right and square off the laundry. Then you have space for a bench or linen cupboard to the right of the sink in the laundry. If you do this, I would also re-position the powder room door to the opposing wall to the toilet. That way the first thing you see when you walk through the front door is still blank wall, not a toilet door. Just a thought. I should stop procrastinating from work now. Re: Building on a rear strata lot 39Jul 23, 2014 6:56 pm Thanks PR, not much can be done with the space, though I have tweaked it already. No bath in the house, that was first thing I wanted out, there will only be a double shower in M2, switching WIR with Bath in M2 that should then push laundry and give extra space in living. I am trying to have as much lawn/courtyard to get the sun in and be as far away from the fence as possible. kitchen will expand too. I will upload new plan later today... I am quite excited I am getting there as happy with it just want to maximize living spaces and make it as practical as possible. Re: Building on a rear strata lot 40Jul 28, 2014 4:01 pm I've just skimmed over your thread BMWorld. Congratulations!!! My husband and I are building on a rear block in Lathlain. It is costing a small fortune, and we are well aware that it will have its ups and downs. Just remember from the very start that no building process will ever be completely smooth sailing I would suggest going out and looking at as many display homes as you can. Get an idea for colour schemes and measurements. Stand in bathrooms/kitchens/laundries and suss out whether it works for you and your routine. The more prepared you are, the better good luck!
