May I suggest that you ask the bank to provide you a reason in writing as to why and on what terms they are relying upon in order to revoke your unconditional offer? this would taking the guessing game out of it. I cannot tell you whether they are able to do this or otherwise without viewing your contract however, may I suggest that you also place in a complaint with the ombudsman regarding thie revocation. If they merely revoked it with no explanation without having the same placed in writing it is questionable as to whether they in fact had a right to revoke the offer or otherwise?
Hope this has helped you..
I dont mean to start anythin here but as a lawyer, you should know a bank is under no obligation to divulge why they reject credit contracts. If they did they would unwittingly provide the borrower a peek at their lending criteria that could be used to later spin aplications for them or others. Its commercial in confidence scoring information that will be met with the respknse of "you didnt meed our lending criteria".
An ombudsman complaint would be usless also because you can even see on the front end that the biggest issue here is capacity. Can you imagine the complaint? "Dear ombudsman, I was rejected for a homeloan because my husband lost his job. Please help". The ombudsman wouldnt even take this up, and avain the bank would revert back to explaining the customer did not meet lending criteria.
Asking the bank would not take any guessing out of it and there is nothing here to raise with the ombudsman. There isnt even a legal case here.
