Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building with Simonds SA 121Aug 21, 2014 1:58 pm I believe I am the small and pokey build in comparison to all these double storey monsters! haha Thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=66299 Slab: 16/6/14 Frame: 4/7/14 Roof: 22/7/14 Lock Up: 20/8/14 Fixing: 26/8/14 PCI: 9/10/14 Handover: 20/10/14 Re: Building with Simonds SA 122Aug 21, 2014 4:38 pm I know but you know how you go into some two story's and they just feel real crampey still? Your floor plan is beautiful, love it Yes i love finding simonds two story builds to follow but there isn't many at all. I'm still learning to keep up & not miss anything on here but it's hard with a full time job aswell hahaha Thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=71963&start=50#p1203154 Settlement: January 2014 Currently waiting council approval Re: Building with Simonds SA 123Aug 21, 2014 4:50 pm Yeah I do know what you mean, but I'm sure yours will be fine hahaha yes... this forum zaps a LOT of my time. I work from home a lot, so I get very distracted. lol Thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=66299 Slab: 16/6/14 Frame: 4/7/14 Roof: 22/7/14 Lock Up: 20/8/14 Fixing: 26/8/14 PCI: 9/10/14 Handover: 20/10/14 Re: Building with Simonds SA 124Aug 21, 2014 5:44 pm Oh I have my phone at my desk checking in but there's only so much u can do between work hours! Haha My sister just had a baby and we were laughing about how her birthing forum was similar to my addiction with this house forum. We all get excited for pictures, milestones, progress & have photos to share of our "babies" after it's all done and dusted. How life changes.... Haha Thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=71963&start=50#p1203154 Settlement: January 2014 Currently waiting council approval Re: Building with Simonds SA 125Aug 21, 2014 7:16 pm Single story doesn't mean small and pokey..... It all depends what you do with the space. I've seen some two story displays that are just horrid and two story for the sake of it and also some wonderful smaller homes. Bigger is not always better! Re: Building with Simonds SA 126Aug 21, 2014 7:41 pm I'm building a two story marc!! Oh no!! Haha Na we have very open plan just not walking through our display home makes for a very daunting build Thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=71963&start=50#p1203154 Settlement: January 2014 Currently waiting council approval Re: Building with Simonds SA 127Aug 21, 2014 7:42 pm Oh Deluxes I didn't see your comment & it made it look like my reply was directed at you earlier!! I LOVE your floor plan.. If we didn't go two story I would have chosen that one Re: Building with Simonds SA 128Aug 21, 2014 8:09 pm Hahahahahaha no no I knew what you meant!! Don't stress! Hehhehehehe Thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=66299 Slab: 16/6/14 Frame: 4/7/14 Roof: 22/7/14 Lock Up: 20/8/14 Fixing: 26/8/14 PCI: 9/10/14 Handover: 20/10/14 Re: Building with Simonds SA 129Aug 21, 2014 8:42 pm I read back and went oh no!! I have just siren around new areas by myself looking at houses being built or at garden ideas. I think I'm going building house crazy, even my partner refuses to discuss the house with me. I've got note pads full of ideas, quotes, trades etc. what am I going to do with my time once it's finished??? Lol Thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=71963&start=50#p1203154 Settlement: January 2014 Currently waiting council approval Re: Building with Simonds SA 130Aug 21, 2014 9:08 pm I contacted my CRC to tell him I wanted to sneak into the gallery tomorrow. Good timing, our file is back from the estimator so I get to meet him and he'll give me the costing. I find all these 'stages' very confusing. I really have no idea of what's going on. I'm sure I've been told a couple of times. I have their 'Journey' document and the MySimonds login with the 'stages' but I still don't know. BTW my first stage pie chart in MySimonds is still on 50%, has been since day one (3weeks)! Now if that's not confusing ... Re: Building with Simonds SA 131Aug 21, 2014 9:11 pm The only pokey in any of our houses will be the 'hokey' pokey we'll be doing when we get the keys Re: Building with Simonds SA 132Aug 21, 2014 9:24 pm Ours was the same, we had NO idea what to expect or what was happening behind the scene. I was so frustrated at times because I felt like nothing was being done than she'd email about all the approvals we received.
We have completed all stages now but the final one (two sections) still to mark off with a start date of 5/8/2014. It's a good little tool to follow but yes it's all very confusing!!! Selections is fun & an added bonus is that simonds have such good standard product that you really don't need to upgrade to much. In total we walked out spending $308,000 on the house but that included lots of structural, down lights throughout, high ceilings, septic, Aircon and a bunch of other big ticket items Have you ever seen the selections centre before? Re: Building with Simonds SA 133Aug 21, 2014 9:27 pm I don't think they update Mysimonds much in the pre site stages! The default page it opens to for us is Approvals and we should be ready to build by 13/6! Hahaha We switch it over from Pre-site to On-site and it's pretty accurate and fluctuates a few days here and there, but its very odd that it's showing us we still are awaiting council approvals... Lol Thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=66299 Slab: 16/6/14 Frame: 4/7/14 Roof: 22/7/14 Lock Up: 20/8/14 Fixing: 26/8/14 PCI: 9/10/14 Handover: 20/10/14 Re: Building with Simonds SA 134Aug 22, 2014 12:38 am Yep, I've been in there to see Haydn a couple of times, pay deposits etc. And he invited me in before that to see the standard of their finishes. I thought ... gimme a pen, I'm gonna sign right now But I reckon you're right Cleo ... to go in there before selections and take good note of everything properly. That way I'll feel more comfortable and organised. (I don't think very well in front of other people ) Re: Building with Simonds SA 135Aug 24, 2014 10:49 pm Haha ok so maybe I won't pay to much attention to the MySimonds timeframe. Brought our master bedroom light fitting yesterday. We have dark chocolate carpets & white leather furniture so thought dark light shade would be best suited.
