Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building with Simonds SA 81Aug 09, 2014 12:10 am Thankyou!! Now I hope the house actually starts soon not sure what's next. They really arnt two high so I'm thinking I'll just send my gardener out there to mow over where the house will sit. Our block is dead flat with nothing on it but grass & weeds, so hopefully a quick mow over should be good enough. Thankyou tomcat, as I said we haven't ever walked through our floor plan so I'm really hoping I like it. Haha It's seems to be a good sized house though and it's just my partner, 8yo daughter & my partner so we should have plenty of room to move Thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=71963&start=50#p1203154 Settlement: January 2014 Currently waiting council approval Re: Building with Simonds SA 82Aug 09, 2014 10:25 am OMg!!! Congrats! How did I miss this post? Anyway, yay!! Won't be long now As for our weeds and grass on the block, our developers came past and did a final mow down a week or so before a few of us settled. We had our site Scrape 4 weeks later and it was still fine... All good. Weed killer now whole the weather is good, and no rain is predicted for a few hours (as StephyD said) and Just a mow over. Thankyou! Im nervous and scared now though haha. She emailed me saying "we allow 30 days for all approvals, but all our site start dates commence within 2 weeks" so I'm assuming we start in 2 weeks? We had all approvals in on May 15 and they did the site cut on June 3. So 2 weeks and 2 days. Not long now!! Hopefully they get started on your site soon. We got DA officially back on 23 July (actually approved 17 July), but they still haven't started yet. Hoping there will be some significant progress next week. That would be great if you guys are in by Christmas! By the way my friend that works at the bank is Ashleigh. We are building the Stamford in North-Eastern Adelaide. Our Build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=72717 Re: Building with Simonds SA 86Aug 09, 2014 7:40 pm Yikes! Exciting times ahead. Oh penguin Ash is awesome what's the hold up with your build? I highly doubt we will be in before Christmas now but I'm happy with January/February so I can settle in after the Xmas rush. That will than be passed onto the bank & she guaranteed they would be on site within 30 days so fingers crossed. The next 30 days are no doubt going to DRAG! I've been watching your thread. To be honest most SA builds by simonds seem to be very fast. Now I need to organise a few finer details I guess like tiles, concrete and all the extras before we start and time gets away from me. Have you got a timeframe of when you'll be in? I wish I could say this is the first time Simonds have let us down with timing estimates Our Build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=72717 Re: Building with Simonds SA 91Aug 13, 2014 7:30 pm Oh bugger!! Hopefully it all starts to speed up for you soon. I've been told we will be on site within 30 days now but I'm not holding my breath. We have gone with the exact look of the Bentleigh display home as I just couldn't chance starting from scratch and creating something I ended up not loving. We used the Bentleigh ALOT to decide on interior and exterior. This is our brick colour & we have also organised for our front two pillars to be stacked stone after handover. Roller door and cladding will be cedar which I'm not 100% on but that's one thing my partner chose. I just really hope it all falls into place. We loved it. We like the darker, moodier colours. Gorgeous We picked Cedar for our timber window stai,, front door and the strapping above the windows and garage. What's your warmer paint colour called? I think that's lovely... We also chose to do dark cupboard fronts and benches dark for a very modern look. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The paint colour is Mojave (for all walls throughout) and minimalist (corners etc) which is pretty much just white. We plan to do feature wall paper in entrance, main bedroom (bathroom and ensuite go either side of the wall our bed sits against if that makes sence) and our daughters room. These are the colours I've done in our current house which is different to just the plain white to. We get a lot of compliments on the different colour throughout so hopefully it works out to look good in the new house to or I may be hiring a painter haha Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=71963&start=50#p1203154 Settlement: January 2014 Currently waiting council approval Re: Building with Simonds SA 97Aug 15, 2014 2:03 pm Very nice... I like your plans I love the dark cupboards and benches... great taste. We were inspired and convinced by the Bentleigh to go with darker colours. I was a bit afraid, but that place and how great it looked gave me the confidence to do it. Albeit a bit differently, but still... Looking forward to watching yours all come together! oh and FYI - Simonds actually started on our block without us knowing, We didn't know for 2 days after the fact... it just happened that we called past on the day they scraped the block. So keep an eye out... We were told early September but apparently they've already started! Still haven't heard from them lol Re: Building with Simonds SA 99Aug 15, 2014 3:56 pm Thankyou it's so daunting when your so close to all your ideas coming together. We purchased all our blinds whilst my partner was home last trip & this trip will be paying for the shed, $14,700 (I better get something good that's just mine in this house haha) worth of shed and then fencing and paying for the tiles. It's nice to finally be getting things ticked off. Then all we'll have left to do is concrete, pagola and gardens yay. I won't miss anything hopefully... I do find myself driving out there every second night already!
