And you are correct shazaw, they are not particularly noisy - but a pool pump (especially a low speed one) is even LESS noisy again Seksui KDR in Sydney (2015-2016) Links --> | H1 thread | Final plans | Timing of works updated 9/3/16 | KDR with Sekisui - Sydney 884Jul 23, 2016 12:49 pm vivmak It is strange that there are no such rules for air cons. They are really noisy! Actually, there are rules that apply to this. Here's Ryde's DA section on this and the CDC pretty much says the same thing. My forum thread is at viewtopic.php?t=74944 Re: KDR with Sekisui - Sydney 885Jul 24, 2016 9:25 pm Air con units are meant to be 3m from the boundary.. or the neighbour's house or something, but as the sales guy told us - who really does that. No help on the pool pump, but looks like you have this covered from comments from others. Good luck! Also - have you shared any pool pictures yet? Have I missed this? :O Re: KDR with Sekisui - Sydney 886Jul 25, 2016 7:33 am I wish I have something to share about pool but haven't got in any of our rental property so no idea
On the aircon unit, ours is not even 2m away from the our neighbours boundary, maybe it varies from council reqs? Re: KDR with Sekisui - Sydney 887Aug 08, 2016 3:53 pm As I indicated previously, it seemed like compliance would be easier than arguing in the case of the unnecessary pool pump housing. So here it is: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Info sent to the certifiers, so now just to wait for the certificate (unless there is anything else......). Also, TheBigHouse, you were spot on regarding the general requirement in terms of the Complying Development code - and I think my certifiers were supposed to put the condition onto the DA approval, but it just didn't make it on to the paperwork! No problems at all with the window restrictors, pump housing etc etc. And just received the final "OC" for the pool by email today. So that's it, we are now fully certified - house and pool! Next step, do up some plans and submit an application to council for a deck around the pool (we want to do a bit more and go closer to the boundary than the Exempt rules allow). North facing roof: 12 panels Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ West facing roof: 18 panels Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I would have liked to get a few more on the north roof, but I already have the Evacuated Tubes on the upper level (right in the middle - didn't think that through) and 12 was the maximum that could be easily laid out on the lower roof. The smart meter hasn't been installed yet (due on Monday apparently), so I can't tell how much of the solar generation is going into our home and how much is being fed back into the network each day. But I do have overall solar output figures (from the inverter): Wednesday from 1:30pm (overcast all day): 4.7kWh Thursday (overcast, but not as "heavy" - cloud cover but more filtering through): 35.4kWh Today (overcast all day): 15.1kWh (still generating 0.5kW at 7pm) We will see how things go over the weekend with the high 30's and 40 degrees and less cloud Seksui KDR in Sydney (2015-2016) Links --> | H1 thread | Final plans | Timing of works updated 9/3/16 | Re: KDR with Sekisui - Sydney 893Feb 03, 2017 7:39 pm You've been busy! You put a pool in Also clever idea about stepping the backyard like that to fit the trampoline in. Re: KDR with Sekisui - Sydney 894Feb 03, 2017 7:42 pm Wow those are great figures! We don't have our smart meter yet... How did you get it organised so close to the panel installation! Looks like you could have squeezed one more panel on the north side 😁 Re: KDR with Sekisui - Sydney 895Feb 03, 2017 8:16 pm cat_dunc Also clever idea about stepping the backyard like that to fit the trampoline in. Well spotted! It started off as jut wanting to create a bit of height variety in the back corner (maybe like a sunken garden lounge - something like that), but then we realised it was within a couple of cm of being the perfect height for the trampoline that we had bought whilst at the rental house, so we made the "pit" slightly larger so the trampoline would just fit in. I had a bit of stabilised sand left over after backfilling around the pool, so I created a thin layer (and wet it to harden it up a bit) under the trampoline and after 8 months or so it's done a good job of keeping the weeds from springing up underneath. We don't have our smart meter yet... How did you get it organised so close to the panel installation! Looks like you could have squeezed one more panel on the north side 😁 I tried fitting in an extra panel or two (even laid them out in landscape to get an extra row, but with less in each row), but they don't like overhanging the ridge caps for some reason (still haven't worked out exactly why - but it's a pretty standard point that's put forward) so 12 was the maximum. The smart meter was actually supposed to be installed on Wednesday with the rest of it, but the installers said they had been told that the supplier had no stock. I thought that was a bit rough seeing as I had paid the deposit back in December and they had taken this long to organise the work with Endeavour Energy and then book in the installation team - surely they could have put one aside after the deposit was paid.... Anyway, after a couple of days chasing them about it and making my displeasure known at not being told upfront that part of what I had paid for was not yet done, they told me today that someone will be out on Monday afternoon. Note that what I am referring to here is the smart meter device which gives me information about the usage and production (electricity in and out etc). The actual "meter" (the one that is used to calculate the bill) was swapped over on the day of install. We previously had an "in only" meter and of course, now that we will have some feed back into the grid we needed a meter that calculates both the "in" and the "out". Can I ask how much the smart meter costs and the model? We are thinking about it but it's about $600 I believe? And the other meter isn't installed yet for us Re: KDR with Sekisui - Sydney 898Feb 03, 2017 9:17 pm yvonneh Ahhhh. Can I ask how much the smart meter costs and the model? We are thinking about it but it's about $600 I believe? And the other meter isn't installed yet for us There's only a couple of different models of Smart Meter, the main points of difference being single vs three-phase and the Amperage rating. They otherwise do exactly the same thing. It was $760 - obviously a bit of an extravagance, but what price do you put on knowledge I ask you? That's annoying that your bi-directional meter isn't installed yet. Not that it will matter much given the weather over the last few days, but once the sun comes out you won't get any feedback tariff credits for excess production. Hopefully they get it to you soon before the cents you are currently missing out on turn into full dollars Seksui KDR in Sydney (2015-2016) Links --> | H1 thread | Final plans | Timing of works updated 9/3/16 | Re: KDR with Sekisui - Sydney 899Feb 03, 2017 9:18 pm BTW, mine is 3-phase. If you are single phase then it might be a bit cheaper, so $600 would be about right.
