Re: Building house in Providence, Wellard................... 22Sep 30, 2014 9:52 pm Anyways stayed with the pillar as it would look better. There were some issues with my wiring which i did't notice until the final wiring went down.I hope it turns out fine..also looks like they need to some fixing of my pillar wall. Re: Building house in Providence, Wellard................... 31Mar 08, 2015 6:47 pm PP Wow, I'm amazed how quickly your build has progressed ..on the pre plan looks like the drawing is illustrating switches for passage, Porch & garage wall..looks like your porch globe will not be centred..You should query if you are not happy.. Re: Building house in Providence, Wellard................... 32Apr 22, 2015 2:31 pm Hi All, I am very disappointed with my builder. There is an NBN pit which falls on my driveway and according to NBN this should not be on driveway,so when they did survey they knew it was on my driveway but still went ahead and drew the plans. If they would have told me that is incorrect i would have happily shifted the garage on the lest side so that my driveway does not fall on the NBN pit. Only solution to this is that the pit be move. But they don't want to do it although they are required to obey the NBN standards. It has been more than 2 days and I have not heard back from them. Very disappointed by the flaw and would have to goto building commission so that this resolved. Re: Building house in Providence, Wellard................... 34May 23, 2015 9:25 pm Speaking of NBN. I have heard different stories even with the same builder. Does your builder include the price for pulling the cable from the pit to outside your house in the contract? I was told that it is by laws a requirement for the builder to do that if it is a NBN ready estate. Is it the case for you guys in providence? Timeline: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=76782 Building house in Providence, Wellard................... 35May 23, 2015 9:47 pm Hi Sofia, for Providence they gave us folder as to what the builder has to provide, my builder uses Intelligent Homes for NBN, and yes we had to pay extra for the house to be NBN ready..
Re: Building house in Providence, Wellard................... 36May 23, 2015 9:52 pm Sofia, pulling the cable from the pit to the house and installation of the PCQ box on the house is completed by NBN Co and is no cost to you as the owner! Some builders will apply with NBN Co to have it done but usually it'll get organised by whatever ISP you go through! Your ISP will then run the cable through the house to the NTD box and your builder will have already run cables from there to your data points internally (whatever you chose for the builder to do) HTH My build thread https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=70655&p=1164017#p1164017 Our House is full of magical things patiently waiting for our Home to be built Re: Building house in Providence, Wellard................... 38May 24, 2015 10:30 pm I am all confused. We got a letter from our builder. It says that we need to arrange for the telstra lead in (conduit, cable and connection from the telstra pit to our home). Our neighbour has done that. The contractor quotes him the cable cost to run from the pit to a box (PCQ?) outside the house, has a conduit in the garage and a power point. My understanding is that the ISP just connects the cable up and provides the NBN box in the garage (if that's the choice of location). At the beginning, I also thought ISP will do all of these but it doesn't sound like they will. The builder told us that it has to be done before the roof is on.
