Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building the Brookwater from Porter Davis 21Dec 21, 2014 8:47 am Hi guys, We're building with PD in the same council area as mydreamhouse also with a January site start. Wondering if a site we keep driving past that has recently been cleared is theirs? We've been keenly looking out for any PD constructions in the local area - there are a few Metricons and some Burbanks, but I am yet to spot any PD signage. We had initial site cost estimates of about $45k from memory (with an above ground pool that had been sunk in). We removed the pool and the site costs reduced to $35k, though don't feel that reduction was pool related (more about Whitehorse council mystery flood levels, retaining walls etc). We have a 7.8m setback - a large number of houses on our street have under 2m setback, one one side of us we have 2m on the other abotu 9m I think. At 7.8m we have a reasonable size front yard, and a huge 20m plus long backyard (836sqm site). Looking forward to following your builds Build blog - http://hasslingthehoff.wordpress.com/ Re: Building the Brookwater from Porter Davis 22Jan 19, 2015 8:10 pm Site start happened a week ago. Not even getting the building permit yet! Very frustrated! We had some ridiculous issues with PD and our site start has been delayed. Just wondering if you are going well with yours? Who is your building coordinator? I am guessing if we are building in the same area we may have the same people from PD. We have to wait for another month to site start due to some ridiculous mistakes made by PD. I will share our story later as we are still waiting for PD to provide a resolution. May I know who is your SS? You can pm if you don't want share in public. We realized that dealing with the right people is so important and we just didn't have our luck! Slab is done for you now? Do You have independent inspector for your project? Please keep us update with your progress. Good luck! Re: Building the Brookwater from Porter Davis 27Jan 31, 2015 2:58 pm Wow, just saw brookwater display at harcrest and its Wow! Awesome choice, beautiful house with great floorplan! My block is a bit short for it but cutting the rumpus off and making a smaller alfresco. Just working on the quote now to see how affordable it is, but definitely love it. Love the upstairs and downstairs masters which is great for us cos it's my sister and I who are building together. Love the display in Point Cook, even though hate the Bali theme, can just see what an amazing house it is. Current build Porter Davis Brookwater 49, Eucalypt Wollert Build: 24th Jul 2015 - Approx Mar 2016 Previous build DFH Columbia 21, Lyndarum Epping North Build:20th Jul 2009 - 18th Dec 2009 Re: Building the Brookwater from Porter Davis 29Mar 31, 2015 8:04 am mydreamhouse Hi Pungentia, Any update from your house? We had some ridiculous issues with PD and our site start has been delayed. Just wondering if you are going well with yours? Who is your building coordinator? I am guessing if we are building in the same area we may have the same people from PD. Missed your post! Our site start finally happened on 25 February. Build is thankfully ticking away fairly nicely now - just finished frame stage and apparently roof is set to go on today/tomorrow, but estimated completion as per contract days is end of October, which is ages after we had hoped :/ We're using an independent inspector at each stage of the build, which is worth while as I don't think the site supervisor has made it to site yet. How is your build coming along? How is your build coming along? Thanks for your reply. Glad to hear everything is going well with your house. We finally got some progress too! Our site cut started on 11/3 (2 months later than our original booked site start date) and slab poured on 24/3. We are now waiting for frame to start after Easter. Which inspector you used? We got one for pre-pour slab and only found a few minor issues. Is Blake your SS? We haven't met our SS Blake yet but spoke to him once over the phone. Apparently he is under the pump at the moment as he has to look after a few other projects due to other SS resignation. This is our second house building with PD. Based on our past experience, it will be completed around 6 months if no major issues causing delay. October would be the latest to expect. Our first one started on 20/2 and Completed by 30/9 including delays of brick issue for a month. Fingers crossed for the rest of construction will go well. Happy Easter! Re: Building the Brookwater from Porter Davis 33Aug 04, 2015 10:22 am My sister and I signed up in March to do Brookwater 49 but with the rumpus removed, the family room and laundry slightly bigger to square off the back of the house. This was only so it could fit on our block of land. With losing the rumpus, we opted to wall in the lounge and put a double door entry to that room now so that it is not too closed off, but will function well as a theatre lounge. Here's our floorplan; Upstairs; Site start happened about a week ago or so and I'm told our slab pour is planned for 20th August. Can't wait to see it taking shape. Feels like it's taken so long to get to this point cos I am so impatient! lol We signed up while they did the DNA promo which meant we really didn't have to upgrade much at all which was fantastic! Chose our colours shortly before the Waldorf grange display opened and were amazed at how similar that is to what we are going for. We have done the dado paneling on the ground floor except in the master and the lounge. Grey walls, white trim. Like this; Our staircase will be painted in that classic style with black treads and handrails and white everywhere else and with a carpet runner. Similar to this style, with the paneling up the wall, but with the carpet runner and plain poles; We opted not to do too many downlights and instead will use pendant lighting throughout. These are the lights we chose; These over the island bench; And this one above the stair void; And these are the doors we chose; The façade we chose is the Hampton one and we are essentially copying the Brookwater 47 display in colours with a few minor tweaks. Our block of land is 18mtr frontage so we added a 2mtr extension to the garage which is being turned into a storeroom. We added a window to the façade so this is how it looks; Current build Porter Davis Brookwater 49, Eucalypt Wollert Build: 24th Jul 2015 - Approx Mar 2016 Previous build DFH Columbia 21, Lyndarum Epping North Build:20th Jul 2009 - 18th Dec 2009 Re: Building the Brookwater from Porter Davis 34Oct 09, 2016 8:27 am Hi guys, just found this thread. Love the Brookwater 47 display at Harcrest. Anyone know what colours are used for the weather boards and what roof tile profile/colour? Went to WOS and they could only tell me the render and window colours. Also anyone built this home on a corner block which needed a special corner treatment? We have a cnr block and worried how it will look. Would love to see any pics of tour finished facade . Thanks in advance.
