Browse Forums Building A New House 1 May 04, 2015 12:30 pm Hi, just wondering if anyone has ever supplied their own appliances (building a new house). If yes, was it risky? And how did you determine the cutout size etc? Did you buy the appliances beforehand to ensure that the size would fit perfectly and to avoid the chosen ones being expired? Aside from that they may not cover any insurance on the appliances you supply, so if they get stolen from the site it may become your risk. Who are you building with? we are considering building with Metricon.. Who is your builder? Is it possible that you choose some models, but by the time the appliances are to be installed, they dont sell that anymore? Does it mean that we have to buy it months before? Thanks Re: Supplying your own appliances 5May 05, 2015 6:57 am We are building with coral. They are super flexible with everything though. Can basically supply anything I want... Vanity, tapwear etc so maybe the exception not the rule... Good point about when to purchase though. Although I'd imagine many ovens would be a standard size wouldn't they? Maybe best to do some online shopping. Harvey Norman and most other online stores show specifications with sizes. And then maybe talk to your builder about the best way to go about it. We saw a Blanco Granite sink in showroom. It costs $1099 here to buy retail but Amazon delivers to Perth for $395 including shipping ($34). We are yet to hear back. We are hoping they would say yes because it is a sink they do install in some of their homes.
