Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building Newport 19 with Coral Homes in Saddlers Ridge 101Oct 28, 2014 1:51 pm Its better if you have dogs or small children too... its just more hard wearing the only downside to the aluminium mesh as we have recently discovered is that on installation the installers are quite rough and you can get "dents" in the mesh... and these stick out a lot!! Our SS thinks we are being too picky but we have asked him to get 3 of the screens replaced due to these dents... Building a Modified Coral Daydream 28, first build, first home and land owners. Acreage Build in Buccan, QLD. Room for the two new puppies Re: Building Newport 19 with Coral Homes in Saddlers Ridge 102Oct 28, 2014 5:10 pm Yeah my bad that is what i meant by normal lol We will be getting a security screen door for the front door and maybe for the laundry sliding doors after handover... but we wont be leaving the house with just security screens locked so might see about normal fly screens for the laundry door for when the dryer is on. If they knew what they were doing they should have installed the aluminum screens after all the tradies have left so there are no dents. You have every right to have them replaced because you are paying for them and they should be like they just came out of the warehouse from the manufacturer. Re: Building Newport 19 with Coral Homes in Saddlers Ridge 103Oct 30, 2014 8:53 am So another stupid error has occurred while trying to apply for the FHOG!! They have come back and said they can not process it as the contract for the house does not have my partners middle name. So because contracts can not be amended we have to have a variation done (thankfully at no cost) to have the middle name added. They said that they can not process it with out the middle name because they are unable to identify him properly. What a load of crap from a government department! Anyways, The variations with the ceasarstone cost removed and the flyscreens for the alfresco added have been signed and sent off with the middle name variation as well. All we have to do now is wait for Coral to come back with a start date YAY!!!!!! So now my partner and i can head off to melbourne tonight for the weekend and not worry about anything Re: Building Newport 19 with Coral Homes in Saddlers Ridge 104Oct 30, 2014 10:20 am Just after posting my last post we were given a start date of the 18th of Nov Can't wait!!! Re: Building Newport 19 with Coral Homes in Saddlers Ridge 105Oct 30, 2014 10:27 am Woot! Only a couple of weeks I expect pics Have an awesome weekend in Melbourne It is going to be the slowest 2 weeks though haha Oh and don't worry, there will be heaps of pics might have to direct people over to the blog so the pics aren't taking up too much space in the thread. Thanks, hopefully it will be cooler then it is here in NSW Re: Building Newport 19 with Coral Homes in Saddlers Ridge 107Oct 30, 2014 11:26 am Woohoo!! Congrats on the start date can't wait for the pics to stsrt Building our first dream home in NSW Re: Building Newport 19 with Coral Homes in Saddlers Ridge 108Nov 05, 2014 10:57 am Congrats on the start date cubshome Just went through your detailed post about the colour selections and options. Was really helpful with the pictures and prices for the upgrades We are just going through our appointments for colour selection etc. We also decided to go for a darker themed outside and lighter themed inside. So far I have Grey Stone bricks in mind with their natural mortar (I think that's the standard for Indulgence). I wanted Vic Blue bricks but can't seem to find it listed in the brochure we were given. I am leaning towards Monument roof with Surfmist fascia and garage door from the Colorbond range. A colleague who is building with Coral as well supposedly spoke to the electrician who will be working in his property through Coral and is getting him to do all the extra attachments/light points/down lights etc at a way lesser cost than what Clipsal was charging him. I am thinking of going the same route for installing my Air cons and other light fittings. Re: Building Newport 19 with Coral Homes in Saddlers Ridge 109Nov 05, 2014 3:12 pm Always good to get a start date, congrats. Look forward to the build. With the bricks for some reason we were pretty much given a range to choose from that were classed as being standard but some of them were not listed in the brochure that we were given. Re: Building Newport 19 with Coral Homes in Saddlers Ridge 111Nov 14, 2014 5:39 pm Our first meeting and start date for the build is on tuesday and i was wondering if any one had any advice on what he will talk us through or what we can or should ask? We were thinking of letting him know we may want some extra electrical things done and maybe request the details of the electrician? Re: Building Newport 19 with Coral Homes in Saddlers Ridge 112Nov 14, 2014 8:04 pm cubshome Our first meeting and start date for the build is on tuesday and i was wondering if any one had any advice on what he will talk us through or what we can or should ask? We were thinking of letting him know we may want some extra electrical things done and maybe request the details of the electrician? Yeah they will get you the electrician's details. I just walked up to the sales office and asked the details. Did the same for their fencer and landscaper. Our site supervisor is quite helpful too, you can ask him for the electrician's details, give the electrician a buzz and ask him to send you his new construction price list. Since he will be there working on your site, it will be cheaper and easier for him to get a lot of attachments and wiring done with walls etc not blocking him out. Ohh and I now ditched the roof and brick colours Click on my signature link, that's the colour am aiming for as the final build. Re: Building Newport 19 with Coral Homes in Saddlers Ridge 113Nov 14, 2014 8:49 pm Yeah, I would just speak with your SS, I had no problems getting the numbers of all the tradies and it has been a real bonus throughout the build, so good to be able to talk with the guys that are actually doing the work and when they have a question they can just ring you and ask, so it works both ways and really helps the quality of the build. I think we had the same site supervisor. Garry? He said he takes care of all GC area builds. The new colours look very nice! in reply to your build - We had some very minor bits of rubbish on our block which were two small kids bikes and some general rubbish which thankfully they just used the excavator to move it to the back of the block with the rest of the dirt. I really don't understand why some people think it is ok to dump their rubbish where ever they want! Re: Building Newport 19 with Coral Homes in Saddlers Ridge 116Nov 18, 2014 4:23 pm So we had the start of construction start today and when we arrived a little bit early in the morning to the block we were really surprised to see that the site scrape had already started and best of all was nearly completed!! Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ As i mentioned above we had a little bit of rubbish someone had dumped on our block but the excavator just moved it all to the back of the block with the rest of the dirt. Temp fencing should be put up tomorrow and some more surveying and pegging and then plumbing and lead-ins for the NBN installed and on tuesday next week the slab should be prepped and poured hopefully It is so exciting to finally have construction and something happening to the block of land instead of visiting it every weekend and just see a vacant block haha More photos will be put up when we head back out sometime this week for the progress Oh and might have to have a slab party i think Re: Building Newport 19 with Coral Homes in Saddlers Ridge 117Nov 18, 2014 6:19 pm How exciting!!! Glad to see how quickly they move once they get started Building our first dream home in NSW Re: Building Newport 19 with Coral Homes in Saddlers Ridge 118Nov 18, 2014 6:35 pm Cristyandpercy1 How exciting!!! Glad to see how quickly they move once they get started Building our first dream home in NSW Yeah we were quite surprised at the speed they were moving and the schedule the SS had also mentioned that there was a 12.5 week build time frame but of course that does not include any problems or anything like that that may pop up. Though i still believe the 14 week build schedule should still be fairly accurate Once the slab goes down it should be fairly quick. Though i hope that at least the roof may be installed before xmas incase of any bad weather as the frame will be up before xmas. Re: Building Newport 19 with Coral Homes in Saddlers Ridge 119Nov 18, 2014 6:43 pm Hi cubshome, how exciting, looking forward to following your build,we were supposed to have our site start the 24th November, however due to the high volume of builds,it won't be until December 3rd, hopefully we'll have our slab before Christmas. Julie Re: Building Newport 19 with Coral Homes in Saddlers Ridge 120Nov 18, 2014 6:50 pm That's so exciting! Hoping we get our start date soon Ask the council if there is a chance of getting build over easement exemption. Sometimes easements are unused and 24cm is not all that much. Good luck. And yes any builder… 2 13923 In Qld it is a requirement that a builder must have a cost breakdown, for building a home to the same specification, with the same inclusions and the same finish. So ask… 1 4364 Ask for references and speak to them. If they are defensive or try to avoid the request, walk. 1 75129 |
