Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building Newport 19 with Coral Homes in Saddlers Ridge 421Mar 26, 2015 11:20 am Hey Cubshome, where do you guys have your towel rack for the en-suite? They put our towel rack just beside the toilet.... eww! If I hang a towel to dry there its gonna touch the pot! That's a no-go for me! Re: Building Newport 19 with Coral Homes in Saddlers Ridge 422Mar 26, 2015 3:18 pm Our towel rack was positioned on the opposite side of the toilet/vanity. Hmm that's not a nice place to put that I'd just mention it to your ss and ask them to move it. That's just unhygienic. Is there any where else it could be put? Re: Building Newport 19 with Coral Homes in Saddlers Ridge 423Mar 26, 2015 7:28 pm There's a huge window opposite our vanity..... but we don't want to watch the outside world when we go poo poo. How did I miss this during design... Grrr. Yeah I'll talk to him, not only there needs to be space for it, but also need studs to support it. Re: Building Newport 19 with Coral Homes in Saddlers Ridge 424Mar 26, 2015 7:51 pm Ah ok bummer!! If they have to they might be able to just raise it higher? We have a problem where the en suite glass door opens and just misses the rails right where the handle for the door is. We were thinking of moving the double rail up towards the roof where I can reach and install a single rail in the original spot. That way there 8 more clearance between the handle and rail. Re: Building Newport 19 with Coral Homes in Saddlers Ridge 425Mar 28, 2015 5:06 pm So we went to the house today after heading out to vote and put the sprinkler on for the lawn. It's definitely responding to us watering it. It is very much green and starting to grow in the bare patches Though we found out that the recycled taps are a different size tap then normal taps and we had to head to bunnings to get a 3/4" tap adapter instead of the normal inch one. The letter box and clothes line has not been installed yet but the metal strips have been installed in the bathroom Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ And that's all that has changed so far. The painter starts on Monday and we shall see by Tuesday I beleive if we can get the cheque from the bank and will call our ss Monday to just let them know we are keen for hand over on Thursday. Also we have to find out when our ss goes on holidays and make sure his boss knows we want to hand over Thursday. I hope it just makes them get stuff done if they want the money (obviously if everyrhing has been fixed) Re: Building Newport 19 with Coral Homes in Saddlers Ridge 427Mar 28, 2015 6:12 pm Haha yup I think it's just the painter and a few patch up jobs like missing grout and sealant inside and then just the letter box and clothes line which should be done at the same time. We just want the letter box so we can start to redirect mail Re: Building Newport 19 with Coral Homes in Saddlers Ridge 429Mar 28, 2015 6:21 pm Yeah I suppose I should collate everything that we need to change the address like our car insurance and stuff. I just hope that we aren't waiting about for the nbn to be installed as I still need to do uni work as I'm doing it externally Re: Building Newport 19 with Coral Homes in Saddlers Ridge 430Mar 29, 2015 9:12 am Be warned that you might face a price increase for car insurance. Ours went up $100 when we moved in with the inlaws a few suburbs away Follow my Coral Daydream 28 build: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=72384 Re: Building Newport 19 with Coral Homes in Saddlers Ridge 431Mar 29, 2015 9:18 am Yeah I had to contact my insurance because they can celled my policy by mistake and I enquired how much it would be to move out there and it was about $100 extra but I'm paying monthly so it wasn't that much more. I used to work for AAMI Re: Building Newport 19 with Coral Homes in Saddlers Ridge 432Mar 29, 2015 9:33 am It took me totally by surprise. Oh well, we'll be back in our lower insurance area soon enough Follow my Coral Daydream 28 build: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=72384 Re: Building Newport 19 with Coral Homes in Saddlers Ridge 433Mar 31, 2015 1:03 pm Yeah I knew it could change the price because there are quite a few factors that go into determining the insurance premium like the amount of accidents in that area, how many schools and types of roads in the area. I thought it would have gone down though being outside a city but sometimes you can't predict these things Re: Building Newport 19 with Coral Homes in Saddlers Ridge 434Mar 31, 2015 1:04 pm So the bank has transferred the last bit of the loan into OH's account so he is off to the bank now to get the cheque Then he will call our ss number and might get the construction manager to just let them know we want hand over Thursday. If they want this money they better have everything done Re: Building Newport 19 with Coral Homes in Saddlers Ridge 435Mar 31, 2015 1:05 pm End is in sight! Can't wait to head to the house tomorrow night and see if they have done a few things! Building Newport 19 with Coral Homes in Saddlers Ridge 438Mar 31, 2015 5:45 pm That's awesome! Will be a busy weekend for you!
Re: Building Newport 19 with Coral Homes in Saddlers Ridge 439Mar 31, 2015 6:33 pm Thanks guys so we had a quick duck up to the block to double check on them. The painter has done his job....sought of. The damages to the walls and some door frames have been repaired and the meter box and pink window frames outside have been painted. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Weather seals put in for the external doors. The hole where the cold water tap for the fridge repaired and the holes from them incorrectly installing the toilet roll holders have been filled in. They sealed the join between the vanities and the tiles in the bathrooms. Though they still haven't sealed the vanities between the wall though. The grout hasn't been done that was missed in the pantry. The letter box and clothes line still hasn't been installed. The hole in the second bedroom floor is still there. They did however install the missing part of the fence at the back. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ So they are close but they really need to pull their finger out by Thursday! We tried calling our ss and construction manager today and no answer. Will be annoying the hell out of him tomorrow by calling a lot until he picks up haha. God I wish they can just do what they need so we can organize and book things for the weekend. Re: Building Newport 19 with Coral Homes in Saddlers Ridge 440Apr 01, 2015 7:18 pm Sooooo. We have the hand over booked for 1:30 tomorrow!! Finally was able to get a hold of the construction manager Bank cheque is ready so let's see how we go All addresses have been changed, nbn ordered and now to move this Saturday hopefully! Ask the council if there is a chance of getting build over easement exemption. Sometimes easements are unused and 24cm is not all that much. Good luck. And yes any builder… 2 13745 In Qld it is a requirement that a builder must have a cost breakdown, for building a home to the same specification, with the same inclusions and the same finish.
