Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jun 19, 2014 12:16 am Hi All, Maybe fellow forumers can help me out. So I am assessing what options I would like to cut back on and I had opted for a Bristile Roof and the standard range was Vienna Profile (anything not fully glazed). I was led to believe that the upgrade price would not be so great to go to the shingle profile of Planum. Turns out that Planum is a 8,500 upgrade so I am now considering Vienna again and the glazed options are about 1,500 more which I can live with. Glazed Onyx is Jet black which I do not think will suit and Black granite, although dark is more a very dark grey and is also gully glazed. I am looking at having monument gutters and facia and the render colours are light leather and tapestry beige. I think that the Black Granite is probably the pick of the dark tiles. Pepper would be the pick for light tiles but I think the house would look washed out. I do not seem to be able to find many examples of houses with the vienna profile tiles and was looking for intel on why this would be the case. BTW the house is a double story. Thoughts, views, opinions are very welcome. Spare me the debate on why I am not going colourbond as that decision point has long gone. Cheers Mark Re: Bristile Roof Tiles in WA 2Jun 19, 2014 5:58 pm I'm following along, glad to know which Bristile range is standard. Who are you building with? We've just paid $3500 to have bristle tiles over colorbond with HGWA. I know DH wants the Planum ones but we are not paying yet another $8500 for them. I'm not happy about having paid the $3500 but whatever! What is concerning is that it is very difficult to find pics with Vienna profile. Makes you wonder if the flatter profiles are in heavier demand, why would bristile not tool up and make them.... I am starting to lean towards the Black Granite Vienna as a Plan B. Re: Bristile Roof Tiles in WA 4Jun 20, 2014 12:11 am We are also looking at roof tiles and were also given the choice of Vienna or Marseille's builder range. We realized most houses are similar to Vienna's style and wanted to take Marseille cause we quite like the style of it. However, most, if not all new houses seems to be going the Vienna style roof. Is it because the Marseille style is basically the "old" style which you see on old houses? We are also building a double storey in WA. Re: Bristile Roof Tiles in WA 5Jun 20, 2014 12:59 am mwccl, I was looking for pics of vienna but cannot see any. I think the Marseille is probably more suited to a more older styled home. I am building a modern home so I thought the flatter style would be better. The annoying thing is, is when I started this journey the builder specced the flat monier concrete tiles which are coloured all the way through. Production of concrete tiles has progressed a lot and they are guaranteed from fading for quite a long time. When they switch the Bristile the Vienna is of course not flat. Also being glazed if they chip you see terracotta beneath. I am not sure whether I am over thinking the roof thing as it is probably not going to be looked at that much at the end of the day. I think as long as the colour is a good fit for the scheme the choices between them will be forgotten pretty quickly. Do you have solar on the roof, because if its not a laying defect it looks almost like someone has been walking all over the roof in the mid section of the tile (weakest… 2 1931 2 9448 This certainly doesn't look good. I would be engaging with an independent inspector to have a look at this. As for the unscheduled site visits, most builders are quite… 1 28319 |
