Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jun 16, 2014 7:20 pm Hi All, My builder says two coats of paint (no initial sealer undercoat) is what's included in my build. Does anyone know what effect just two coats of paint would have on the following paint choices for internal areas? -Hog Bristle (sorry but I like it) for all internal walls -Antique White USA for all skirtings, window trims and internal doors -regular ceiling white for the ceilings Regarding external, due to having a sandstone facade, I'll just need paint on; rendered quoins, bands around windows and front door, down pipes, eaves and a turned post at the porch (from what I can think of). Does exterior paint need a sealer undercoat before two colour paint coats are applied? Finally, if I add an initial sealer undercoat of paint to the internal areas, would it add a lot in cost? Any idea how much a sealer undercoat would cost for a house of 212m sq and how much for labour cost?? I'd really appreciate any advice that can be offered - thanks!! Looks good. To be honest I thought they were done. But I dont know what the same with just paint straight on plaster would look like. Any advice from others who have completed a build before would also be appreciated, thanks. Dont bother looking up the solitude on the web, the colour representation is nowhere near what is on my wall lol. The solitude is a pale grey neutral. The web shows a beige/brown/grey. Re: How many coats of paint am I meant to use? - new build 6Jun 17, 2014 9:10 am For painting the render to the front elevation of our new KDR, the builder has allowed for 2 coats which we are assuming is sufficient for purpose. We asked for a dark colour to the balcony only (about 40sqm) and have been quoted an extra $750 based on the fact that it requires a dark base (my estimate about $40 extra for this) and then a third coat of paint (the remaining $700?).
