From the sounds of it Wisdom will put the NBN NTD device in the garage as per requirements from NBN.
I was thinking of putting a patch panel under the stairs storage and run all data points to the house from there. Was also thinking of putting a network switch and NAS at the same place to service the house
Any other suggestions?
We did this - all cables run to under the stairs to our nighthawk and our NAS also resides there. Works well.
Wisdom will provision the ability to run the fibre cable from the street boundary to your garage but (unless the procedure has changed) you need to organise nbn to come out to install the NTD and external box and to run an connect the fibre cable.
Wisdom will run the ethernet cables inside your home to nominated point(s)
Is your NTD located in the garage? Did Wisdom run one data cable from NTD point to under the stairs
The NBN NTD has 2 Voice and 4 data outputs so wondering if I should get Wisdom to run all 6 of these to under the stairs to future proof
Would you have a photo of what your patch panel under the stairs and what the NTD output looks like?
This is what's in the contract in regards to NBN chanrges
Yes the NTD is located in the garage, but this is installed by NBN Co after handover. (or that is how it worked for us).
Wisdom provide the conduit to allow for NBN Co to come in and run the fibre optic cable from the street pit to your external point on outside of garage.
Wisdom also provide the conduit through your brickwork to enable the optic cable to run from outside garage to the NTD inside your garage. Again NBN Co do this went they come out after handover to install the NTD and run the cable.
Wisdom will run 1 data cable to your nominated position (under stairs) and add a data point plate in your garage wall next to your NTD position. This data cable will then be connected to a switch/patch/router in your nom location that will also connect your other internal data cable runs from each room that you nominate.
Wisdom will also run 2 separate phone points to nominated positions in the house from the wall plate near the NTD position.
I don't have any photos on hand at the moment, but can try and dig some up. It will look the same as Jordann's post that you quoted above - multiple data wall plates under the stairs to connect to your switch/router - no patch panel required.
Hope that helps.
