Agree with M52. We got council approval in June 2017, our demo was completed the week after and our slab did not go down until November. We got ours and tgey suggested only 3kw which we feel is very less. Our current house is a 2 bedroom house and our usage is obviously less..but we are building a 5 bedroom house and tge usage would go up. Isn't 3kw too less?? Do the final Construction Plans that come with the End Panel include another set of final Electrical Plans or is the one we signed off on the one and only plan we'll receive as far as Electricals go? And also, we should expect to get final Kitchen/Bathroom/Laundry/Butler's too, is that right? Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 13329Nov 14, 2018 4:48 pm We have our Electrical Appointment with Wisdom coming up. Any tips, tricks or things to look out for We are planning to get extra down lights provisioned and supply and install the lights later ourselves. And add a few more power points What else have you done extra? Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 13330Nov 14, 2018 5:20 pm CS199 We have our Electrical Appointment with Wisdom coming up. Any tips, tricks or things to look out for We are planning to get extra down lights provisioned and supply and install the lights later ourselves. And add a few more power points What else have you done extra? CS199, we made many changes to our Electricals (about 4 in total, the last change incurring an Admin Fee). No matter how prepared you think you are, there's always something that may be missed! The forum is awesome as a lot of experienced builders here can give you tips and tricks A week before our appointment, i used Adobe PowerPoint to mark all the switches, lights etc etc using coloured dots. It did make the appointment go quicker! Think about where you will be placing furniture, appliances, lamps so you can determine where to place power points. I initially placed power points EVERYWHERE you can think of because i was thinking about the vacuum cleaner and then down the track i realised i wanted a cordless Dyson and if i really wanted to spoil myself, i may even want one of those robomaid vacuums too so i ended up deleting some power points because after spending a few days looking at the plans i signed off on, my power point placements were a little overkill! I also realised a few of the placement of power points were in the wrong place after changing my mind on furniture layout - so take furniture layout into consideration too. I'm sure many more on the forum can add more tips and tricks also, especially the ones who have already finished their build Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 13331Nov 14, 2018 5:34 pm ASJ1981 CS199 We have our Electrical Appointment with Wisdom coming up. I like my house well lit up Did you get down-lights on the top floor as well or just downstairs. 15 down lights are included in the package.....rest will need to pay extra Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 13332Nov 14, 2018 5:56 pm CS199 Is there some sort of formula on how many down lights we will need compared to the area we are covering. We did provisions for upstairs and some provisions for downstairs too (the 15 free downlights were quickly used up in the kitchen, leisure and dining rooms!) Don't forget to ask for dimmers if you want them as well. Oh and we upgraded power points and switches downstairs to the Saturn Range - they are a little pricey and it all adds up in the end Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 13333Nov 14, 2018 6:00 pm CS199 ASJ1981 CS199 We have our Electrical Appointment with Wisdom coming up. Our consultant Amy was fabulous. She helped us calculate what’s enough to light an area. Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 13334Nov 14, 2018 7:55 pm ASJ1981 Hi everyone, quick question. There are lots of variable out there and factors to consider. Ie. what is the size of your north and west facing roof line. Do you want panel level monitoring or just daily output. I’m getting 1.7kw BIPV (Solar roof tiles) on my west facing (front of home) roof line to preserve the look and a year later will add another 5.5kw (standard PV panels) to my north facing roof line. I’m building a Manhattan 44 ens. Hope it helps Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 13339Nov 15, 2018 6:45 am There are lots of variable out there and factors to consider. We plan to get it done later post handover. Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 13340Nov 15, 2018 8:59 am Solar - My husband calculated our needs based on our energy usage, household size, and future battery use (to hopefully not utilise the grid) etc and determined we needed at least 8kW. We're getting 8.25kW for about $8k. Electrical - agree with what has been posted, we also installed USB power, lots of data points, changed the termination point location from the garage to the downstair storeroom, downlight provision to install our own later, outdoor lighting/heating/fan, gas points for BBQ/potential heater, extra supports for TV mounting, CAT6a cables, power point in the laundry cupboard for the Dyson stick.
