Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 4642Mar 15, 2017 2:30 pm amf139 ShuddaBeenATradie @GLO gonna be brutally honest here, KDRs will take 2+ years from tender to completion. We signed in Feb 2015, construction started in March 2016, we should be picking up our keys any day now but this rain is holding us up for the damn sewer connection. Yours might be better cos you're in Ingleburn. As msjovi said getting trades out to older suburbs is hard. I don't think choosing a different volume builder is gonna make a difference, they're all as slow as each other from my stickybeaking on other peoples builds that I drive past in the local area. Master-n, Beechwood, Raws-n, it's all the same if not slower. The only builds I saw move fast was million dollar+ custom mansion builds in Strathfield. Council is slow-as for DAs, we went CDC but still had to deal their slowness and bureacracy for tree/footpath/kerb/sewer issues. KDR is a testing process to say the least You're definitely gonna be ahead if you tidy up your current place and build on a new estate. I drove past your house today SBAT. A little activity with a bobcat and trucks, clearing the front for you? Your house is the only thing giving me hope right now. It looks bloody marvellous! Whats new amf139? Have council come back to you as yet with a revised decision? Am assuming W is still basically a bystander to it all. Hi Oz, Council have suggested the basement garage, which we have stated to them and W that we are not interested... so next email from council to W was "has your client thought about a basement lift?" I'm not sure what they're smoking at Council, but $100K for basement and $80K for lift was never on our building agenda! So we are progressing with our revised plans that are currently in drafting and hopefully they will be acceptable. I'm sure W will be glad to see our folder progress to construction!! I showed hubby your ground floor brickwork and he agrees it's going to be a stunning house. I'm looking forward to seeing the next pic. For them to suggest it, there must be quite a few other homes around in the area that have paid the cash to have the basement/lifts done. Let's hope council are smoking the really good stuff when the revised plans go in so they can just stamp it through. Thanks for comment re our house. The rendered facade and some cladding on first floor will break up the dark brick, but brickwork itself looks pretty good (the odd mis-coloured brick is noticeable but not big deal). Scaffold to go up over the coming week. A colleague of my husband is building a couple of streets away and he had a house designed by an architect and now sourcing a builder.... the first quote came in at $4 million hahahahahahah. I'm not kidding! We feel like the poor cousins at Christmas with our W home (even though we know we will have a beautiful house when it's finished) Thanks for the extra pic! They originally kept up the scaffolding because of the fascia being wrong, but then after the giant hailstorm we have some roof damage (several leaks inside unfortunately) so I think they are keeping it up so they can access the roof easier to fix it. Also, they only completed our portico roof last week! It's just that one section that's still up. All the rest has been removed. Yes we are rendering the front in a greyish creamy colour. Easy enough to paint later if I hate it haha The cladding will be done in surfmist (which looks way whiter on a house than I thought from the samples... Haha Our fascia and barge is surfmist and I was expecting it to throw more grey, but against the monument gutters and dark roof it looks like I chose WHITE. Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 4658Mar 16, 2017 7:11 am ShuddaBeenATradie If this helps anyone in negotiating our landscaping came up to something like 71k including GST out of pocket with WL, for that we got a 37sqm driveway for $8k, 12m of footpath, 16m of layover, 4metres of kerb + removal of old layover for $12k (council quote for the same work was a lot more expensive than WL surprisingly) 57sqm side concrete on both sides + small courtyard and laundry landing - $6.4k 1.8m high brick front fence with balustrade and driveway gates - $19k 292 sqm of turf + soil - $7.3k Removal of old colourbond fence + footings and installing a new colourbond fence with timber retaining wall underneath. 54m at $8k 2 Side gates at 2.5k together, a bit exxy but they're doing the core hole drilling for the posts so it means they're up for any damage/cracking to the concrete. The rest was sundries in site prep, rubbish/fill removal. It adds up quickly, some was reasonably priced, some was on the expensive side but unless you're going to do the work yourself I don't think there's huge savings to be found from external landscapers and it's worth not having to step on wet clay around the house while you organise external contractors after handover IMO. Hi all, Thanks Shuda for the landscape info this will help us. For our progress and update, we got new quote from WL, they made some adjustments on the Landscaping works, from ~50% difference it is now down to ~10%, by comparing PA and actual quote. Now we have some room to smile. However we are still in the hunt on other quotations. Guys, do you have any suggestions on Landscapers located in Sydney West or Sydney North West.
