Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 7002Aug 17, 2017 10:43 am Hey so our slab went down sep 19 and we had handover June 8 - so hopefully you have a good run and that's a pretty good time expectation. Although Msjovi had her Slab go down the same week I think and she's still not in (but should be close I think?) it's luck of the draw, SS and weather really! Hoping for a nice dry few months for you!!!! Building Majestic 40 - wisdom homes
Thanks! I'm hopeful ours will run smoothly, although Msjovi's should have too! But all the W builds on our estate seem to have gone up quickly and Oz's build has gone well too so fingers crossed.
How many W builds are happening in Wongawilli? Obviously helpful if the tradies can stay in the one place. The house behind us will be a Wisdom as well, they're a couple of months behind us though. Building Monte Carlo 40- Wisdom homes Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 7004Aug 17, 2017 10:47 am iceberg. ozmonkeyoy Garage door on today. Pleased to see that it matches up well to our stained entry/balcony doors. The garage door also goes well with the the rest of your facade. What colour did you select for your garage door? Timber Coat Cedar? Merbau? Thx! Garage door is B&D Merbau, and front door stain is Walnut. The samples at colour selection were really small, and it was quite difficult to get a match. We are happy with how the whole facade has turned out, but certainly there were times of second guessing our choices.... Building Monte Carlo 40- Wisdom homes Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 7006Aug 17, 2017 10:52 am VandM Hi MandM+4, I can't recall them saying anything about expansion joints..........the colour of the walls is Taubmans Windy Beach. It is very light grey, in some lights you can't even tell that the walls are grey unless you look at it compared to the white of the ceiling. In sunlight the colour is much more noticeable. Hi gfernz, you are right, this is the Ambassador 41. I will definitely post up more picks next time we go to the house - they are putting the carpet in next week! Hi msjovi - love looking at pics of your Ambassador too! I must say that I am very jealous of your beautiful staircase, it is something we would like to do down the track. Our slab was poured mid December so we have had a pretty good run, although it feels like the last 6 weeks are dragging on! Ozmonkey your facade is gorgeous! You must be so pleased with how it has turned out. Fingers crossed for a speedy handover! Thx! I agree with you in that the last month there really is a period of slow down. I know the trades need to line up really well in this period, and a lot of the work they do is finicky stuff. I would say that over the last few weeks, at least half of these days there were no trades onsite. This came after a period where we were lucky to have someone there doing work 90% of the time over the last few months. The finish line is in sight, and luckily life is very busy at the moment meaning the next 6 weeks or so should move along pretty quickly (and hopefully smoothly). All the best with your handover as well. Ensure to post the finishing touches so we can all be impressed. We went to our colours appointment with windy beach in mind but the consultant said it was a bit mauve so we changed to white shaver. Your colour looks perfect though, I'm a bit worried white shaver will throw blue. We want a greyish off white- grey enough to show a bit of contrast with the doors and trims but white enough not to clash with anything I don't recall DL mentioning an expansion gap in hallway either but it does specify on their sign off sheets any distance greater than a number of metres (can't recall off top of my head) requires a gap and from homeone it seems to be common practice...id be stoked if it's not required! Looking forward to more pics of your build. Though I have no doubt our file will be in production estimating for some time. Thanks for your information. It's very helpful. We hope the price is the same with last year. 😁 Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 7012Aug 17, 2017 11:05 pm singalg spk_homebuild MandM+4 SPK- once contract is signed you will book your appointments, it will take about 2 weeks after your appointments to get your landscape plan back which is required to lodge for developer approval. While waiting for developer approval they should prepare for council/CDC. If going through council add another couple of months on... And then best case scenario another 6 weeks from council approval to production estimating. Once in production estimating it takes about a month I'm told on average to get the slab down. In my experience every step of the process takes longer than anticipated! Building Monte Carlo 40- Wisdom homes Thanks M for the detailed inputs. Really helpful !! As you stated it may take 6 months for our admin to progress also December is a lean month so am almost considering that as an off. So Jan for us would be a bit optimistic. Will definitely keep sharing our experience and also love to see your progress and that of others here. Wish you the very best cheers SPK spk_homebuild, Welcome to the forum and good to know another Majestic 35 being built. The selected handle should fit on a standard door - hopefully Wisdom can come up with a better solution for you. Because I can imagine the lock would have to be pretty low on a standard height door to fit a 900mm handle above it. 600 shouldnt be a problem though surely? Building Monte Carlo 40- Wisdom homes Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 7017Aug 19, 2017 10:35 am Hi, searched and couldn't find any reference. Questions as follows 1. What is the cost difference upgrading to a bi-fold door in lieu of sliding stacker out back and are they practical? 2. Does everybody do the standard high window in the HT? Thinking of putting 2 windows in... 3. Has anybody done a half brick half glass balustrade on the rear balcony thank you! Hi Chompy, All of the above are certainly doable, just depends if you agree with W's cost for the upgrades. We talked about a bi-fold door originally near the alfresco, but the cost was prohibitive (in our minds) back in 2016. Sorry can't remember the exact amount. Window cost will be based on size/style, but shouldn't be a huge upgrade. We just went with the highlight window - wanted it to be fairly dark. Expect to pay plenty for the rear glass balustrade. In original plans we wanted a glass balustrade, but in hindsight we are glad we went with the brick, mainly because of privacy issues with double storey neighbours on our rear boundary. The glass looks great (as per our front balcony), but there would be no privacy at all.
