Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 10961Jun 02, 2018 5:31 pm Chinoandbebe, thanks for posting pics! Gorgeous! Our Ceasarstone is Jet Black and our vanity is Polytec Black in Finegrain finish - also an upgrade. We chose 300 x 600 white matt wall tiles too, floor to ceiling (which was standard range). I hope ours look as good as yours! I have a monochrome palette hence the black/white/grey. Hoping it all works well! I was nervous about having charcoal floor tiles, but again, you just have to go with your gut! Great job on your choices, can't wait to see how you furnish it! Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 10962Jun 02, 2018 5:50 pm DaniK Kazi DaniK Has anyone got photos of the Pgh truffle bricks? They've started laying mine today just want to see more pics of the final product Do you have any photo now of your bricks? Our brick is also PGH Truffle with grey mortar. Laying has been started in last week. I will post photos for you once I have some. What is your mortar color? Do you mind to post photos if you have any? However, I found the brick in these photos of a display house (not Wisdom Homes) is also PGH Truffle if it helps. But I remind you, the brick looks very different with different mortar color. I have visited one house of Truffle brick with Off White mortar which looks a bit brownish from distance. I have attached some photos below from last week. We had scaffolding for second floor put up yesterday and brickies were back today. I wanted to stop and take some more photos but I already look like a bit of a stalker lol Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Hi DaniK, Do you have any new photos of your house now? Our bricks are done. But I still cannot see our mortar grey, it looks so bright and white to me. Your images look like grey to me. Very much confused. I had a designer who chose grey mortar for my PGH Truffle for a blended grey look. She did not want white at all. And to me the mortar is always looking like bright white! However, I dont know if the whiteness of the mortar will be significantly less after cleaning the bricks Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Building Ambassador 41 Wisdom Homes Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 10963Jun 03, 2018 10:16 am Our fresh driveway. Yes this is exposed aggregate Holcim mix (i think). We originally wanted Boral salt and pepper mix but didn't want the yellow rocks that it has in there. Our concreter recommended this mix as there is less yellow stones, mainly just black and white with a few coloured stones. Thanks for all of the useful information shared on the forum. Its been great to watch some of the journeys as the builds have progressed. We are building an Ambassador 36 with the Hampton Facade and the enclosed balcony off the master bedroom. We have a few small modifications:
I would have loved to be in construction by now but the 4-6 week estimate from DA is now into week 12 without any progress on site. As has been pointed out a few times you get used to multiplying the worst case wisdom estimate by 2, which means hopefully a fence and toilet will be turning up this week (otherwise i may be one of those members who use this forum to vent my anger as a coping mechanism.....). I wish Wisdom offered aggregate driveways, I really love the look of them but the convenience of being done before handover won out. How long do you have to wait for after sealing to use it? We’re in week 13 now and our roof and render were done this week. Eaves are due to go on this week and our cladding is on site too. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Wisdom’s only options were either move them around the corner or delete them when they spoke to my husband. I had a look over our plans that night and Wisdom agreed the next day to us shuffling our lights around the different bathrooms so now we have downlights in the main bathroom and the wall lights will go over our ensuite vanity so we can install these lights after handover. Thanks, yes i'm hanging onto that as I have heard it a lot. Admin hasn't been too bad, just keen to see some progress now that we have kicked the renters out, demolished the old place and are now paying rent and repayments The colour concept was done by Wisdom as part of the council DA submission but I replaced their sketch of the house with a d@dgy mashup I did in Ms Paint. We are using similar colours internally. Mostly whites and greys - figure we can accessorise to bring some other colours in. Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 10974Jun 03, 2018 8:17 pm Just going back over some design decisions. Tiles: Went with these non-standard tiles (top colour) for all floors. 600x600 for all downstairs floor and 300x600 for porch, balcony and all bathroom floors. All bathrooms also have 600x300 horizontal as feature wall (wall opposite entry door) with white matt horizontal tiles on all other walls (from standard range). A little concerned that the 2 tiles won't be the same size and won't line up in which case I would like the white tiles to be changed to horizontal but not sure if we will get the choice (might order some or go back out to measure but it is a long trip). Paid extra so the downstairs laundry and powder room floors were the same level as the rest of the house. Single waterfall edge to the island facing the loungeroom. Added additional wall cupboards to the butlers, extra pot draws, pull-out bin, microwave tower, drainage grooves, island cupboards, wine fridge space to buttlers and made the niche next to the fridge bigger to fit in a wine rack. Laundry was a bit difficult but added L shape bench to fit in under bench dryer, washer and 400mm closet. Included wall cupboards but just used standard white laminate and 20mm benchtop in intense white again. A lot of our modifications are like yours, e.g. shower in powder room, single access from leisure to upstairs bathroom, etc. We have carpet upstairs, stairs, and only in home theater and guest bed in downstairs. I have a question for you. I wanted to upgrade th eunderlay to the thickest but my husband did not bother much for this so did not end up with. How much difference should we expect for the standard underlay? Big difference? We didnt get any insulation between floors so choice was partly because of this. $260 for downstairs and $1035 for upstairs. Could tell the difference in the showroom but I doubt anyone will ever walk on your carpet and comment about the underlay Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 10977Jun 04, 2018 12:41 am Hi all, Can anyone please explain how do you track your weeks in construction? In 28 February 2018, we received the email saying- ".......your file has been issued to Production Estimating for orders to be processed.... PRODUCTION ESTIMATING: ................................. Orders will start to be processed for your home; Within the first 10 working days, you will see the Site Fence, Toilet & other requirements delivered; excavation works commencing 10-15 working days after that (weather permitting); Within the 15 days and once all the orders have been processed, your file will be allocated to a Site Supervisor (SS) and released into Construction." In 14 March 2018, we received the email saying- "............your project has reached the “Construction” stage and I will be your office contact until the completion of your new home....." In 16 March 2018, our SS called and introduced himself and his plan for weekly update every Friday. In 19 March 2018 Monday, our slab was done. Payment was claimed on 20 March '18 Tuesday. Now, when actually is the official start of week 1 of our 30-week-build? If it's 14 March 2018, then the 30 week should finish around 10-11 October 2018. Considering public holidays, may be 3-4 days more. But I reccently asked our SS to see when is the 30 week end date officially. And he said "roughly 11 November 2018, plus rain interruption & holidays to be counted"! The calculation does not match. May be I should ask our CSR to know the exact date. I know it can not be that exact for handover but all I need to have a track of our weeks like others. I would like to have a clear concept on this. However, our admin and selection stages took too long and we almost were going to loose the bank loan/house due to sudden job change and the delay on Wisdom side. But I am really grateful to Wisdom Homes for accelerating DEP, EP by considering our situations and helped us getting the loan approved finally. We were in immense stress in those days and was chasing Wisdom like hell. The delay mainly caused by Timpelle Kitchen. I dont know why Timpelle was so slow! I found Wisdom Electrical dept very quick and efficient. Megan was wonderful. Anyway, since construction started, the progress is really good. We are really happy the way it's going on timely. Our brick work took 3-4 weeks ( ~01-31 May 2018). Last but the most important thing for me: After knowing lot's of friends' experiences, I am now confident enough to say that Wisdom Homes promises and delivers much better quality than many other builders. And that quality lasts much longer than the bitter memory of admin delay. I am looking forward to the handover of a good quality house and to live without many issues. Hope our journey with Wisdom Homes will have a happy ending . May I ask what you are doing for additional storage if deleting the linen in order to have bathroom entry into hallway? I am not in love with the jack and Jill but am addicted to storage so can’t think of a solution. Jqcc0, where have you put your bathtub? I’ve been counting from when we got our released to construction email, our slab went down the day before we got the email so they’re pretty closely aligned. We’re also on a 30 week contract but I haven’t asked about a completion date yet. I was planning to check this week to start planning purchases during the EOFY sales and work are nagging me about when I’m planning my leave. Our first SS (he has left Wisdom now) told me in our first week that he didn’t expect to be able to complete our house in the 30 week contract time. He was very blunt about it not being reasonable and that contract times are longer now for this exact reason.
