Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 7101Aug 27, 2017 9:33 pm MandM+4 The only extra charge with laminate was the fee to put the skirting on after the flooring, I think it was about $400 so they may increase this if you do upstairs also. Otherwise you can opt to have the flooring after skirting and have a scotia trim around the edge of your flooring to cover the expansion gap, this is free. At colours we selected clear stain for the front and internal doors. The internal doors I am happy with but not sure about the front door. We will have white plantation shutters in the windows. Should we stain it to match the garage or leave it as is? My thinking at the time, and if you look at a lot of the Wisdom displays in 2014/15, they had a different tone front door to garage door. Our colour consultant also thought this was a good idea. I am just not sure if the bricks are too dark to carry it off? I have attached a couple of pics......we also got the garage on finally....it is merbau. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Garage Door is on finally! Also, has anyone selected Bristol Greylocks? This is the colour of the trim on our balcony, it looks totally different in different lights, in the shade it has a yellowish tinge to it and the bottom of the pillars I swear are lighter than the top - I am going to bring this up with the SS on Friday when we have PCI. Damn those tiny colour cards! Definitely suggest to people to actually see the colour on a house to choose on a facade so that you can see if in different lights. I actually prefer the clear stain. Would it annoy me that it's not the same as the garage? Probably. But it would annoy me more to have to sand and restain it and I'd worry the finish wouldn't be as good. Another option, if you would prefer to match it to something, would be to paint it the colour of your windows/roof. As I think you could get a better finish with a sand and then primer and paint. But it does look fine as is. Building Monte Carlo 40- Wisdom homes Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 7103Aug 27, 2017 10:01 pm VandM Opinions needed please! Gosh i feel like you had the same colour lady as us!! We got the rosewood stain on our front door (with the merbau garage) and she was like "this is the closest match". And now that it's done they are totally different. It's not too noticeable as they aren't side by side and the shadows make the front door look darker... As mentioned from others - Colours is a personal preference. My OCD needed them to match and it drives me nuts that it doesn't . But painting it darling colour be a great alternative unless you had your heart set on a timber door. Did you mean taubmans greylocks? Not Bristol? As our portico is painted in the taubmans greylocks. Our front retaining wall will be painted in it soon too. Hope these pics help! Been reading through 150 pages of this thread over the last few days and some great information on here ! It's been a long process and the admin process has been horrible. Dec 2016 - 1k deposit March 2017 - first tender July 2017- after multiple revisions, have signed the contract and put 5% deposit August 17th & 24th - have had my appointments. It's been an extremely frustrating process with delays, mistakes and I feel like i'm never going to get out of the admin process and I see many of you all have been through this as well but it's great to see many of you are very happy with your builds so i'm just thinking of the finish line. I'm building the Manhattan 39 with Designer Facade, Signature package + i'm going with WH to do a pool as well. I'm also waiting on some post contract variations which includes structural changes which means i'm going to be further delayed as i'm extending out the alfresco so waiting on pricing for that and some other bits and then wait for working plans to be drawn. I hope to share the journey with many of you all. I'll say i'm obsessed with this build , constantly looking at spreadsheets, designs etc. I'm going to go well over my initial budget but i'm building my dream home which i plan to live for a long while so i want to do it right. Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 7105Aug 27, 2017 10:31 pm Also, i was planning on doing flooring after handover, but for those who have gone through Di Lorenzo, i'm planning on using 800mm x 800mm floor tiles which will require a sand and cement bed. When i had my tile appointment for bathroom, they said it was $54 per sqm to lay. Do you know if this is the all inclusive labour cost or is there more on top for the sand and cement bed and grout etc? If anyone has a recommendation of a good tiler, please send it through. Ours actually left Wisdom about 2 weeks after our colour appointment! She seemed ok but wasn't too fussed on giving us much direction! I actually think your door looks fine! I think I am going to get it changed. I have a friend that is a painter so I might ask him how much we are up for seeing it needs to be sanded back (and we have no time to do it ourself!) I think it is the same colour, when you search Taubmans greylocks and Bristol greylocks they both come up with the same colour on the same site, yet one says Taubmans and one bristol! I can't see any yellow at all in yours. I have a feeling they need to do another coat as the colour under it was a brown colour before it was painted and I think that is showing through. Is your cladding Surfmist? We chose a Surfmist rail for the balcony which was a very close match. In hindsight I probably should have just picked Surfmist! We won't have time to change it anyway for a while. Maybe once shutters and landscaping is in it won't bother me so much! We had our first visit to DL today, as our appointments are scheduled over the next 2 consecutive weeks. Regarding the included carpet range - do you know what kind of allowance is that? For e.g., for tiles it is $35/sqmt. I am looking to replace carpet with Laminate floor boards upstairs - and need to work out the costs Our timelines so far: First appointment: May 07, 2017 First Tender: June 29, 2017 Second Tender: July 13, 2017 Third Tender: July 23, 2017 Final Tender: Aug 10, 2017 Contract Signed: Aug 19, 2017 When we changed a couple of downstairs rooms from carpet to the included laminate, we received a $35m2 credit from Wisdom. Di Lorenzo charged us their full price of $65m2 for the laminate in these areas. Thanks Ozmonkeyoy! I assume that the credit will be same for upstairs - will need to confirm. Did you pay extra for labour charges for laminate? I had a look at the laminate range at DL and it looks quite good. <quote> I would assume credit will be the same upstairs, would be surprised if it wasn't. No extra charges for laying the laminate. </quote> Thanks Ozmonkeyoy![/quote]With the stair lights . Is that a sun roof/sky light? Approx $2k through W. Oz Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 7113Aug 28, 2017 11:43 am Yara Pretty good price. Does it open? Or static? We ended up just going for the fixed. The motorised opening one was about double the price (just under $4k) Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 7114Aug 28, 2017 1:02 pm Official PCI letter arrived this morning from HO - 7th September.
