Our landscaping consultant has suggested this as an alternative and to continue the front porch tile down one step and then down the path to the passenger gate. I'm concerned about slipperiness....are all external tiles non-slip? Our landscaping consultant has suggested this as an alternative and to continue the front porch tile down one step and then down the path to the passenger gate. I'm concerned about slipperiness....are all external tiles non-slip? Hi becks, our front porch is tiled. But the steps will be concrete. Our tiles are external tiles so it has a rough texture and is non slip. We will be decking this out in future though. Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 15063Oct 05, 2019 5:02 pm Anyone getting Wisdom to install a fibreglass pool? When I initially signed the contract they only did concrete pools so I didn't put in a provision for a pool. I had my onsite consultation with the landscaper a couple of weeks ago and asked for a quote on a fibreglass pool, which they now do. The quote was competitive with external suppliers. The $11k in gift certificates ($5.5k pool voucher and $5.5k landscaping voucher) that I have to use against this is a bonus. I'm getting an 8.5m x 3m pool with a 13kw inverter heat pump. Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 15064Oct 05, 2019 5:59 pm We have been assigned our 3rd CSR, we're quite pleased as it's our electrical consultant and she had amazing attention to detail. Somehow, I feel a but ripped off as we shouldn't need to engage her much at this stage of our build. Out of interest, when do you need to utilise your CSR when deep into construction? I was surprised to hear from them personally as our 2nd CSR was not contactable during construction. I had 4th CSR assigned to me after the start of my construction and I have never had to contact her or vice versa. In the begin of the construction was the last time with the 3rd CSR and that was when I was requested to install Tiger Tails. Most communication has been via my SS. I was surprised to hear from them personally as our 2nd CSR was not contactable during construction. I was assigned my 3rd CSR 2 months into construction. I am now 6 months in (kitchen cabinetry has just been installed), but I have never spoken to her. Doesn't bother me because the Site Supervisor answers all my questions. Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 15068Oct 06, 2019 11:02 am becks81 I’m on my 4th and at 50 weeks on site. I found out about my 4th after it had changed on the portal. I do have to say she has been fantastic Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 15069Oct 06, 2019 5:08 pm I was also wondering if anyone can shed light on the process of working out how far over your build is over the contract time? I’ve kept a diary of rain days over 2mm but our site is close to several locations that BOM uses to measure rainfall. Is it a 5 or 7 day week? How do you work out of the Christmas clause applies to your build? Day 1 is excavation for slab Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 15072Oct 06, 2019 5:46 pm becks81 - 5 day week As it’s a standard contract I believe that section to be a technicality in the case of volume builders. In my opinion The Christmas shutdown period will apply to everyone if your build goes over the Christmas period. So for example if your build goes over the Christmas period it’s your contract time + Christmas shutdown ( 3weeks). Then there are other variables like weather and building variations etc for extension of time When the contract is signed with any volume builder they cannot forsee when the build will get to site due to so many variable factors like land registration/council hold ups and probably 100 more possible reasons. When you build with a custom builder you sign the contract just as you go to site. Therefore in that situation the shutdown can be included in your contract time because the Christmas period has been foreseen Hope that hasn’t confused anyone further and again just my opinion with my legal eyes on! Thank you Manhattan52, for your considered reply. So add 3 weeks. Do they account for rain on previous days which affects their ability to work on a dry week day? Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 15074Oct 06, 2019 10:51 pm Hi guys, quick question. We have just had our floor tiles laid on our ground floor and were surprised to see that the skirting boards were left on and the tiles have just been butted up against them. Well not completely as we have come across some inconsistent gaps! 1) is this standard? We assumed tiles first then skirting boards. 2) doesn’t this defeat the purpose of the higher skirting boards you get as an upgrade? Our porch roof is not in place yet and there’s a large puddle of water at the threshold. Looks like our garage door went on today! Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 15080Oct 11, 2019 10:24 pm Sorry for posting again everyone, Timpelle have been on site and should be completing joinery early next week, tiles will be delivered next week and our SS predicts about 2.5 weeks of tiling. When is it reasonable to ask for a completion or handover date? I appreciate that Christmas may affect things. Can someone please offer some advice? Im DESPERATE.
