Extreme, I just googled the design of the HAG9 - nice looking door.
I cant say I considered the dust issue, but it does make sense.
Are all your doors similar style throughout?

We ended up using plain doors on the bedroom robes, hag9 feature doors for everywhere else, bar our front 2 bedrooms. Our front 2 bedrooms use the LIN1 door. The LIN1 doors we had made in merbau to match our merbau front door. Our LIN1 doors use clear glass to match the front door. We couldn't use translam glass on the front door due to bushfire regs. We opted to have them tinted after handover with frosted film. Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 1323Oct 25, 2015 8:27 pm Extreme Our LIN1 doors use clear glass to match the front door. The double Sliding LIN 1 doors to the media room will be stained walnut to match the front door. I'm interested to know as we are BAL12.5 and have trans lam glass on the front door. On the door front we have gone for LIN1s downstairs and double LIN1's in the upstairs media/Bed 5. All the others upstairs are the plain standard doors which we might change down the line. We did upgrade the door to the garage from the hall to be a solid core door, Hume HMC1 in maple with a double cylinder deadlock, from a security point of view. I'll check it out. I'm more interested in getting the key to my new front door instead Still hoping to be in by Christmas. I'd like a PCI date and then I will be able to see the light at the end of the tunnel. We also went the LIN1 in double glazed frost to the Master (doubles) and the Master Ensuite (although I'm currently trying to convince them that the single glazed translucent doors that they installed are not the double glazed frosted doors I paid for). We upgraded all the rest to an routed panel door (can't remember the model) but I opted for a smooth finish to make touch ups easier in future. Past experience says that wood grain patterns doors are almost impossible to patch later. A quick check on the Hume website lists it as only being rated to BAL12.5 Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 1329Nov 01, 2015 1:51 pm Hey guys, we walked into Di Lorenzo for the first time ever yesterday. I dumped my stream of consciousness into a blog post here for the uninitiated: https://wisdomhomesabode27.wordpress.co ... es-part-1/ Got our tiles appointment coming up this week, now in the process of deciding what to use and how much I want to spend over and above the standard. Wisdom Homes Abode 27 KDRB - Inner West Sydney https://wisdomhomesabode27.wordpress.com/ Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 1330Nov 01, 2015 6:55 pm imtellinya Hi Guys, Just thought I would update everyone on my structural issues with steel beams. I posted on this forum some time back that the steal beams over the leisure/kitchen area of my double storey home seemingly did not have enough support (in industry terms this is called 'purchase') under the timber studs, so I took matters into my own hands and contacted the engineer. While it took him an eternity to get back to me he said that he had concerns for the beam and had contacted our dear builder with his concerns. The result is they reinforced the support under the beam bringing it within industry standards. I warn everyone, that you should always look over important structural features and if anything looks wrong to speak up. This is something that needs to be right. Some tradies can be very careless and they end up putting things in the too hard basket, leaving it up to others to rectify if it goes wrong, and if it gets picked up. Hi imtellinya, thanks for the update and I'm glad you got it all sorted. Just wondering whether wisdom provided you with their engineers contact details or was it an independent engineer that you had look at the beams? Also curious as to whether you found out what timber was used for the studs supporting the beam. Good luck with the rest of your build. Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 1331Nov 01, 2015 7:05 pm Hi all, we have our tender presentation on Tuesday and have been told we need to accept the tender and pay the balance of the deposit on the same day. I was under the impression we had a week or so to accept the tender but I'm assuming this has changed now with their new processes. Just wondering whether anyone went through the same process of same day tender acceptance and how this works with needing possible variations. Thanks Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 1332Nov 01, 2015 7:09 pm Being a first home buyer its a lot to take in and there are so many things you need to know!! Its quite overwhelming and I am actually more scared than excited right now. We have paid our initial $1000 deposit last week and waiting for the tender presentation to be scheduled. Reading though the previous posts it seems to be a long process. I am aiming to sign the building contract by end of December so that I qualify for the $15k first home buyer grant which is going down to $10k next year. Is this an achievable target? Or is there any risk on hurrying in signing the contract? Our land is expected to register by end of December 2015. WH SC advised we can still get the contract signed before January 2016. Wanted to get advise or suggestion for you all. Building Washington 29, Avanti Facade. Take all the time you need. You might not meet your tender expiry date, but you'll need as much time as you can to review the documents to make sure they are correct. They'll hide behind the plans/tender if you miss something, or if they stuff up. Thanks We were advised by the WH SC (last week) we don't need to sign any thing on presentation and to take time to decide. We were told the same thing by our SC however when our tender presenter booked the meeting with us he made a point of saying we will need to accept on the day. I asked him to clarify how this would work should we need variations and he said he would give us costings on the day for any variations and incorporate them in a revised tender. I just don't want to be pressured though and am quite nervous at the thought of accepting on the same day. Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 1336Nov 01, 2015 8:20 pm Hi msjovi, we had our tender pres on Friday and got told that we had a week to make the payment and that we could take the tender home and go through/digest it. We have more changes to make to it after going through it over the weekend so will be emailing tomorrow all the changes. Does anyone know if we then have another presentation once this one is re-priced with the changes? Wanted to get advise or suggestion for you all. To give you an idea, when we paid the deposit, took 4 weeks to schedule the tender presentation. During tender presentation, there were issues with the plan as what we have told the sales person were not passed to the drafting team. We were given 2 options. To sign the tender pending changes or so a revised tender. We went with the latter as it is hard to sign something that is not clear and not what we want. Revised tender takes 3 weeks. After that we accepted the tender and was told the drawing will be with us in 4-5 weeks. If everything is okay then we can sign the contract. We're on our fourth week and haven't receive any plans. I can only hope that the plan is correct and no major changes required as it will take another 3 weeks. You should alao take into account Christmas shutdown. Hope this givea you idea re time line. The sales person was very confident we can sign the contract before December. Then again his interest is on us making the initial deposit ASAP. We have paid the deposit on 24th last month and was advised will receive some initial welcome email and stuff within few days. Still nothing came through. I guess the admin delays I read on the forums and blogs has started . Building Washington 29, Avanti Facade. Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 1339Nov 02, 2015 4:33 pm Hi all, Just wondering if anyone has decided to do their own flooring after handover and get a rebate as opposed to getting di lorenzo to do it? I understand wet areas need to be done before handover, but for the main living areas we're looking at the 'wooden floor' look in porcelin and looks like it'll be an extra $10k minimum for laying expenses alone. I dare say we could get it done cheaper elsewhere. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks Building Majestic 40 at Bingara Gorge Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 1340Nov 02, 2015 5:24 pm Kpatto1 Hi all, Just wondering if anyone has decided to do their own flooring after handover and get a rebate as opposed to getting di lorenzo to do it? I dare say we could get it done cheaper elsewhere. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks We are doing our own floors after handover. Wisdom are doing the wet areas and the bedrooms and we are doing engineered timber in the living areas ourselves. We got a good deal from SE Timber a year ago. The cost of the timber was nearly what we received back as a credit and we just need to pay for the laying. Delorenzo were going to charge 25sqm more just for the timber than what we are paying for the timber, underlay and laying. It is convenient to get them to do it but only if they are going to charge a fair price. At what we were going to be charged we figured we would upgrade other things. The downside is that we won't have a nice finished house and we need to get the kitchen guys back to install the waterfall and kkckboards (they charged a fee for that too). Can someone please offer some advice? Im DESPERATE. Because I'm completely and utterly exhausted. How long are variations taking with other companies at the moment?
