Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 1602Mar 12, 2016 11:04 pm Sorry Greg, I assumed you put in a large Hume fixed plus sliding door similar to the display minus the glass. We really like the look of the large double doors, just trying to decide whether to make these timber or white laminated glass.. Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 1604Mar 13, 2016 6:15 am Hi Greg, great to hear that you've been to the display at Elara, we wanted to go but had a prior commitment. We have so much on today as well but will try and make it round. Do you know opening and closing time for today by any chance? I called them but the head office don't have the details. Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 1605Mar 13, 2016 6:16 am I'm abit annoyed hearing that they have a door between the butlers, I asked for that originally but was told that they can't do it. I'm going to have to check out what modifications they've done around it. Hmmpfff!!! Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 1606Mar 13, 2016 12:12 pm Hi guys, I am at Elara now.. Will let you guys know what I think soon. @ am99 I will check the timing for you. Cheers, Aggy Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 1607Mar 13, 2016 3:21 pm Hi Aggy Thanks we managed to make it there for a quick visit. Wow the display is so different to the ponds display (and the home we are getting), I'm still trying to get my head around it because I was expecting the same as ponds but with some minor mods but it's flipped plus major mods so it's actually quite different. I personally prefer ponds hut maybe because I'm so used to it. If I didn't see the ponds one I probably would love this one. In any case it's still a very beautiful home and anyone looking to buy it would be very happy. I do like the master suite layout better as well and the butlers pantry set up. So nice to see another ambassador! Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 1608Mar 14, 2016 12:21 pm Hi Guys, I was excited to see the Ambassador 36 at Elara. Finally, it gave me a good perspective of the size and how it would look. This cemented the deal for me ☺ @Greg: We really like a few of your idea and I am going to incorporate a few of them. Upgraded all the doors to Hume panels Overhead cabinets to butlers pantry Gas and hot/cold water points to alfresco Sliding door for the Home Theatre Any recommendation on swimming pool, I wanted to build one on my property. I was looking at Napean pool to get a quote. I am thinking of fibre glass pool. Hopefully we all keep in touch with our build. Cheers, Aggy Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 1611Mar 14, 2016 1:27 pm Hi Aggy, Make sure you allow extra provisional allowances for all those upgrades you are interested in. That's where we have been a little stung. We've put in some provisionals but I have a feeling we will go over in some areas. Hopefully they all balance out as we dont want to have many post contract variations as we don't want to have to pay them separately to the mortgage. We are doing a pool with Irresistible Pools and Spas as soon as the house is up. Nepean came in more expensive for our needs. Building Wisdom Homes Serenity 31 Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 1612Mar 14, 2016 1:56 pm We too went to Elara on the weekend, and boy are we glad we chose our house based on the ponds display. Personally we didn't like what they did to the upstairs. The master bedroom was quite small with the WIR that way, and it also means you can't have the nice wide sliding door entry. We also weren't too keen on that front 2nd bedroom either with the walk in where the void window is supposed to go. Maybe that's just due to the different facade. Downstairs was nice, still prefer the entrance to the garage through the laundry though as per the Ponds. Aggy, that's something you might want to think about changing too - re the garage door. Also allow adequate electrical provisions. We allowed $10K and it ended up costing us $12. Any any kitchen extras you want such as waterfall edges, microwave tower etc will also add up. We are putting a fibreglass pool in before the build with Narellan pools. We went and visited some of their finished products over the weekend to choose our colour and they are just beautiful. Where are you building? Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 1613Mar 14, 2016 2:32 pm Hi Aggy, We went fibreglass with Nepean Pools and they have been fantastic. Very clear and concise with anything and we had a couple of issues with Wisdom that Nepean were happy to cater to. PM me if you want the story. In terms of costs, our biggest expenses were on site costs and the changes that came with that - unless you have a pancake flat block of land prepare for some additional costs there. Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 1614Mar 14, 2016 2:37 pm Hi js_newbie, Agreed - as with msjovi's observations a big selling point for us was the the layout in the master and now it makes that room look so much smaller despite the Ambassador at the Ponds being larger. Upside for us is that its the same orientation as the one we are building so means we can use the display as a good guide for the internal decorations we are doing. Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 1615Mar 14, 2016 5:19 pm Thank you Extreme! for the heads up. I will add it to variation sheet for an estimate. Everyone is talking about Ambassador at Pond but I never got to go there as I was informed it’s sold. Is that true? @ Kirst and @ msjovi: Yes, we have made provisions for few variations and additional cost including electrical, upgrades and site cost. I am thinking to have an H level slab at my site rather than M level. I have also sent Wisdom all the variation I require which incudes a few Kitchen upgrades and waterfall edges too. You guys have been so helpful and have been sharing all the nitty gritties. I asked quotes from Irresistible Pool, Napen and Narellan pools. Lets see how I go. @Greg: I will PM you. I am sure I will incur site coz my site has a bit of incline and Wisdom think it will cost be 10k ☹. Lets see what else is coming my way. We are planning Savanah façade with balcony, which will let us use void space in the living room upstairs. I paid my initial tender depo today. Fingers crossed. Cheers, Aggy Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 1616Mar 14, 2016 8:50 pm hi Aggy, we had a 2 metre incline over the block and our site related costs were 25k - that was for transition deep edge beams and extra soil removal but also for dropping the garage height by almost 1 metre. Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 1617Mar 15, 2016 9:56 am Wow that site cost is steep.. I think I have at least 1 meter incline so I am ball parking it to 15k.. I wanna see what wisdom has to say. Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 1618Mar 15, 2016 11:02 am Guys, Is insulation included in the base price or do I need to pay extra for insulation? Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 1619Mar 15, 2016 2:47 pm External walls have R2 insulation included and the ceiling below the roof has R4 I believe as standard. You'll need to pay extra for internal walls and between the 2 floors. I'd provision around $6000-$7000 for the R2 soundscreen inside the walls and R3.1 soundscreen between ground and first floor Wisdom Homes Abode 27 KDRB - Inner West Sydney https://wisdomhomesabode27.wordpress.com/ Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 1620Mar 19, 2016 4:27 am Hi everyone, We have just signed our tender with Wisdom for a Trinity 35, to be built in Caddens. I understand the next step is a colors appointment for flooring, followed later by kitchen etc. Can someone please give a few tips for flooring - I travel a fair bit and only have 2 weeks before I go away for 4 so need to have the flooring etc sorted before I go. Can I just walk into Dilorenzo and go through what they offer before their formal appointment, I was wanting to be a bit prepared in advance. For kitchen I understand we hv two options, what is the view here, any thing that stands out between one or the other. What should we start preparing ourselves with for kitchen. I know Wisdom give you a lot of literature for selection etc but nothing like hearing it from people who hv been there done it sort. Any words of wisdom are welcome please shares. Thx Can someone please offer some advice? Im DESPERATE. Because I'm completely and utterly exhausted. How long are variations taking with other companies at the moment?
