Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 41Jun 24, 2014 11:39 pm Congrats kidsbuggingme! The slab looks great! Not very happy with Wisdom Landscapes. When we got our original quote we were quite concerned by the large number of items that were quoted as allowances. However, they assured us that these were generally estimated on the high side and that they should decrease once they confirm the site. Today, they've just hit us an increase of $1000 for the site preparation even though the land doesn't need much work at all. Make sure you get any allowances costed before signing with Wisdom Landscapes because they can come back and hit you with price increases. Both on your slab and your blog. I look forward to following your build. Just wondering if any of you have extended the included alfresco areas in your houses? We have just got our tender back and are a bit surprised at the price they have given. ($17k for an additional 4m x 5m) Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 44Jun 28, 2014 6:15 pm Hi kielevings, That sounds about comparable to what we are paying. We are building a Majestic 40 and have extended the alfresco approximately 2.5 x 4.2m which was just under the $8.4K mark for us. This includes the longer beam and extra pillar required plus the Colourbond roof looks a little fancier shaped I think. Question to all. Did anyone add an video intercom system via electricals or planning post handover? Trying to figure out costings to do it during electrical or post build thinking of getting the kocom with 7" colour screen. I think the impression 40 has it @ homeworld and upgrade of $1400? pricey? thanks Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 46Jun 29, 2014 8:29 pm Thanks guys for the replies, Sounds like the prices are fairly similar. Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 47Jun 29, 2014 8:47 pm We're doing our door intercom post handover but pre-wiring it. $1,400 is steep for a basic intercom. Panasonic make some nice wireless ones with portable monitors for much less. Even if I don't get to prewire, installing these is part of my profession. So can't be too hard to run cabling. Using Tapatalk Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 49Jun 30, 2014 10:13 pm Anyone contemplated or gone through the process of replacing the Blanco appliances? We'd prefer to have an inbuilt oven as opposed to the freestanding version. Not at appointment stage yet so wondering what to expect. Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 50Jul 01, 2014 2:33 pm scoturner Anyone contemplated or gone through the process of replacing the Blanco appliances? We'd prefer to have an inbuilt oven as opposed to the freestanding version. Not at appointment stage yet so wondering what to expect. I went with a builtin cooktop and oven at bench height. You will pay extra depending on the blanco appliance you use and also for the installation/kitchen change. Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 51Jul 01, 2014 6:30 pm I was told that all the appliances have changed from Blanco to Ilve now. I think someone paid in the vicinity of $3k to swap over last year but I cant remember who it was. Has anyone put in a gas fire place with them? Trying to get an idea but our sales consultant wasn't sure and the prices on the display homes include a stack of ceasarstone and tiling which we don't want. Also is this something that would be cheaper to do post handover if they just framed out the area? cheers Lou Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 53Jul 02, 2014 10:16 am LouR, We're getting a Jetmaster Heat & Glo 6000. It was $8250 installed with a stainless surround, no tiling/stackstone etc. I went to Jetmaster in Castle Hill and it was roughly the same price installed by them after handover. Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 55Jul 03, 2014 1:08 pm Does anyone know what the model numbers are for the Ilve appliances please? They should be stated in your actual tender, my tender still states Blanco but I will query it. Ideally I would like to change to a built in oven but was led to believe that it was quite an expensive alteration as you don't get much credit back for the free-standing oven , plus add in a gas hob and a tall oven housing unit $$. I had hoped to be signing my contract by now but no joy. The Prestige booklet gives an approximate timeline of 10 weeks for Stages 1 & 2 ( 4 weeks for the deposit stage and 4-6 weeks for the Tender acceptance stage). Week 26+ for us and back to the estimators to correct the tender again then the plans will need to be corrected too... Have gone over them and found about 30 things wrong/we wish to change. Will be sending it back to wisdom today. Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 57Jul 03, 2014 4:28 pm Hi All, We are building a Manhattan with Savannah facade with WH. We just wrapped up our appointments and the demo is slated for next week. We are hoping the actual build will be in the month of August. My experience with WH so far is nothing but pleasant, particularly Sandy who is lightining fast with her responses. I found a bit of delay during the tender stage and it was taking upto a week for any changes. The response from WH for engaging the building inspector is "go for it" but I didn't ask them to add a clause to the contract. As long the private inspector can liaise with the SS, I don't see any issues here. Good Luck to everyone. Thanks Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 58Jul 03, 2014 4:45 pm Hi AAhome! We are having the same facade!! Do you have any change of appliances in your contract? Cheers Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 60Jul 03, 2014 5:05 pm Hi LouR, I am going with someone else but now I am thinking that I should've gone with WH itself. There was a price variation of more than $1300 and that's why. If there isn't a big difference in the quote I would suggest to go with the builder. I am thinking any issues with the demo will be the builders problem (at least a part of it) Can someone please offer some advice? Im DESPERATE. Because I'm completely and utterly exhausted. How long are variations taking with other companies at the moment?
