We spent one year for all preparation. Hope everything will be fine for remaining time. Congrats! We spent exactly 1 year as well to get to site. Seems many have had good builds but there are a few who have also had some challenges. I just got my weekly Friday update from my site supervisor and frames are starting next Saturday. That's a 4 week delay from when they were originally meant to start. So disappointing but at least i have a date now rather than being in limbo. Very odd, they usually get cracking on it after a couple of weeks after slab pour. The issue was that the frame at the rear rumpus area would overhang on the concrete slab so they had to get engineers in to provide solution which is to bolt some steel or something under it so couldn't start frames until they had the direction from the engineer. The SS was off due to personal emergency for a week then he came back and needed to wait for the engineer and then waiting for chippy etc. Ah ok. Always having to wait on engineers...hopefully the last time during your build. Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 9829Mar 16, 2018 3:04 pm ajayshekar Hello All, Suggestion please We didnt realise how bad the colour combination is when we picked the garage door and stacked stone for the pillars. We are very disappointed with this. We wanted wooden look garage door in a roller door. So the colour options were few. We wanted a dark brown, but the colour consultant pushed for light brown.. We are not happy how it turned out. Any suggestions on how to fix this? Can we paint the garage door? A dark brown might make it better. Or should we repaint the cladding? Thanks in advance. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Building Ambassador 36 - Wisdom Homes Ajay, I would change the Grage Door Colour to Surfmist, Remove stones & render the pillars in surfmist and repaint the Grey cladding board to Surfmist. They will match your window frames, eves. They will be uniform and give a pattern and contrast your Bricks. If you dont like surfmist, you could go for another colour such as Sand dune. Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 9830Mar 16, 2018 3:12 pm Hi Ajay, We were really worried about getting the exterior wrong and hired a professional to do all our externals and internals. Best money I ever spent. I agree with the comments about removing the garage door and stone cladding and doing everything in surfmist. I think the facade needs continuity and less is more. Good luck Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 9831Mar 16, 2018 3:26 pm Happy Friday folks! Is there a minimum you have to get done at Landscaping? We want to do most of the gardening ourselves after handover. So basically that leaves only Driveway that we want them to do. Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 9838Mar 16, 2018 8:49 pm whichbuilder Hi all, Long time lurker finally posting here Congratulations and good luck to all of you progressing with their WH builds. Our story: Wifey and me have a sloping block of land that has been registered and settled finally. We had been in the process of finalising the design with WH but did not have the contours until settlement. The design we chose was the Manhattan 35 with some mods. This is our first home and guess it is a huge learning process for us. However, the journey has hit a blocker. We had our tender presentation in Greg hills and were informed about the site costs. The difference is almost 15% from the initial estimates, primarily due to high site costs. The land has about 3m fall over the building envelope. The design now has step down (about 4-5 steps) into the living and another step into the alfresco, which was a shock to us. We aren't sure about having so many steps. It may end up being a beautiful home with high ceilings of about 3.5m. But unfortunately, it has gone way beyond our budget now. Would you guys recommend a split level home (smaller in area) would be better suited? or a double storey split with retaining walls similar to what we have now? Would love to get some advice. Amazing what they can accomplish in a day!
