Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 16103May 08, 2021 11:05 am Hi all, can anyone tell me when credit is given for provisions not used e.g. provision for rock removal in excavation. Guessing it happens at the end at settlement time but not sure? TIA Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 16104May 08, 2021 11:26 am Hey all, how long is the admin stage usually.. the time between you 'sign up' with Wisdom and then demo/building works begin? Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 16105May 08, 2021 11:32 am ppetrovski Hey all, how long is the admin stage usually.. the time between you 'sign up' with Wisdom and then demo/building works begin? We signed up May 2019, signed contract in Oct 2019, we had a few issues along the way. Slab went down December 2020 and we have finished brickwork, cladding and painting exterior. Admin is very slow. We signed up at the end of of December 2020 and still don't have all our quotes, BASIX certificate or final plans. Expect 5-6 months of admin Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 16107May 09, 2021 8:01 am Cazthebuilder Hi all, can anyone tell me when credit is given for provisions not used e.g. provision for rock removal in excavation. TIA Yep at settlement along with rain days etc. Building Manhattan 44 Ens + Savannah Elite facade KDRB Tender Accepted 26/03/18; Contract signed 27/05/18; CDC submission 24/10/18; End Panel 13/02/2019; Slab 19/03/2019 Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 16108May 10, 2021 12:32 pm Be aware the builder cannot just claim rain day delays at settlement time. They must do this in writing within 10 days of the delay occurring, explaining the specific reasons for the delay: https://hia.com.au/regional-news/nsw/cl ... s-of-time# A BOM list of the days it rained from the builder is not acceptable to allow the builder to extend your build time, according to the HIA contract. Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 16109May 12, 2021 11:30 am ppetrovski Hey all, how long is the admin stage usually.. the time between you 'sign up' with Wisdom and then demo/building works begin? The pre-construction process is very slow. So far it has taken 8 months and we still don't have the final Construction Plans and contract. We have signed tenders, done the pre-construction phase and built a home quicker than this in the past. Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 16111May 12, 2021 3:55 pm Kippers01 What are the reasons for the slow pre construction process? I think that they have too many projects to manage on and so many variations, before I thought it’s only slow on my case, after reading this site it makes sense now. It seems that everyone is on the same boat. I paid initial deposit back in Dec, but I cannot see any light in May now, I paid peg out report and they will contact me back, waiting...... Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 16113May 18, 2021 8:23 pm Hi Guys, I stumbled upon this forum googling Wisdom Homes issues. Does anyone know what the escalation process is within Wisdom homes? we have a number of build issues that we are getting nowhere with and feel like Wisdom Homes are not taking the issues seriously. Issues are based on mistakes made with our build, miscommunication and quality/workmanship. Does anyone have experience with how they have dealt with Wisdom when it came to escalations? Our SS seems to want to deflect issues as non-issues and hope it goes away. I'm keen to hear from anyone that's gone through similar issues and how they were dealt with by wisdom. Thankyou Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 16114May 19, 2021 6:57 am mrcookie Hi Guys, I stumbled upon this forum googling Wisdom Homes issues. Thankyou Don't identify yourself or your build here or in a personal message. Read clause 35 in your HIA contract and follow this procedure. Don't accept anything thats said unless its confirmed in writing. Check yourself personally that any rectifications agreed to have actually been completed. Document everthing in writing and photos. HTH good luck. Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 16115May 19, 2021 7:25 am mrcookie Hi Guys, I stumbled upon this forum googling Wisdom Homes issues. Thankyou Mr Cookie Just give the GM Mark Scully a call. He used to be on here all the time responding to criticism. From my interaction with him I have found that he is a great guy who cares about his customers. I am sure he would want to hear from one of his customers who isn't having a great experience so that he can improve the business. Wisdom are a pretty good company in my opinion. PM me and Ill send you his number and or email Cheers Simeon Simeon McGovern Affordable Custom Homes, We design and build to your budget Ashington Homes www.ashingtonhomes.com.au Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 16116May 19, 2021 8:10 am Keep all communications in writing. Give Mark a reasonable timeframe to address your issues. A few days would be enough for him to investigate then write to you confirming what specific actions will be taken. If you get a generic or unsatisfactory response then escalate exactly via clause 35 in the HIA contract. Kippers01 Good advice, I would start with a call, followed up with an email give him a few days and then go contract if necessary. I think they are a reasonable company so I would be surprised if Mark wasn't receptive to helping his customer. Its hard being a GM you can lose track of the day to day minutiae. We have demolished for over 3 months now, even though we signed in late 2019. Still yet to see any progress... no slab, nothing has been done on our property. We got hit with a tender extension fee of $18k for THEIR delays, managed to convince them to bring it down to $5k but they wouldn't lower it any further. They forgot some other paperwork which led to another 3 weeks of waiting, only to hit us today with an additional almost $60k in "post demo variations" of what I am not sure. Anyone have a similar experience / advice? Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 16119May 20, 2021 1:19 pm 29861 We have demolished for over 3 months now, even though we signed in late 2019. Hey 29861 Welcome to the forum The reality is that there is no contract enforced until they start work on site, pity that wasn't conveyed to you earlier on in the process. Delays, material & trade shortages, prices increases due to Flood, Fire and plague are all legit reasons for the builder to seek price increases by way of variations to the contract before they start work on site. You might want to consult a construction lawyer, unfortunately the contract favours the builder Your options are pay up or seek to void the contract either way you are in for huge costs. In the current climate I doubt you will start the process all over again.. better luck next time as you'll be better prepared Cheers Chris Designer,Engineer (Civil,Const & Envir),Builder,Concrete & Masonry Contract.Struct Repairs Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 16120May 20, 2021 4:40 pm StructuralBIMGuy 29861 We have demolished for over 3 months now, even though we signed in late 2019. I understand that there are Ts & Cs in the contract for price change but wisdom homes is a big company, I would expect The building company to keep their cost. Can someone please offer some advice?
