What sort of figures should I expect to pay for their services? If anyone has recommended inspectors in northern Sydney, please PM me with details. I just hired one mid build. Costs $455 for inspection and report. Wish I got one at the start. Thanks! Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 11364Jun 29, 2018 9:13 pm In the chaos of this week I forgot to post an update here. We had an inspection this week to check all our rough ins for electrical and AC. It was really nice just to meet our SS to be honest. We picked up a few power points in the wrong spot which have been fixed up since. The electrician only had a print out of the electrical plan so some of the measurements of above/inside vanity for the bathrooms weren’t readable unlike on the electronic PDF. Everything on site is looking good although I failed to get many interesting photos because I was too busy trying to document where all my wires were running! Our lower roof is in at the back, although we’re still missing the garage part of the lower roof. Building Wisdom Aspiration 31 at Willowdale https://ourwillowdalehome.wordpress.com/ Jenifermarie Sounds like you have an awesome SS Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 11366Jun 29, 2018 10:01 pm One How many visits from private inspectors during the whole build is recommended? What sort of figures should I expect to pay for their services? If anyone has recommended inspectors in northern Sydney, please PM me with details. They recommend 4 - slab, pre plasterboard, waterproofing and PCI. You can choose all four or just one. For the amount of money we are investing in the new house an independent inspection cost is a small cost to pay to ensure that everything is compliant. We’re in week 13 now and our roof and render were done this week. Eaves are due to go on this week and our cladding is on site too. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ We also had a call from a consultant at Canvas Quarter this week because the wall lights we had planned in our main bathroom don’t meet code (these were the consultant’s suggestion when we did electrical because we couldn’t have pendant lights in the bathroom). Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Wisdom’s only options were either move them around the corner or delete them when they spoke to my husband. I had a look over our plans that night and Wisdom agreed the next day to us shuffling our lights around the different bathrooms so now we have downlights in the main bathroom and the wall lights will go over our ensuite vanity so we can install these lights after handover. Building Wisdom Aspiration 31 at Willowdale https://ourwillowdalehome.wordpress.com/ This is awesome! We are building in Willowdale too! I'm actually following your blog and I can't believe you guys are almost at the stage we are. Its looking great. We are building a Wisdom as well - Aspiration 29 with attached granny flat. Our blog: https://meralijay.blogspot.com/ I think we have really lucked out with our SS. He has definitely been very efficient to date. Sorry to see you have had so many no action weeks. Have you got any indication of how far you have to go now? Are you on a 30 week build like us or is it longer because you have the granny flat? Building Wisdom Aspiration 31 at Willowdale https://ourwillowdalehome.wordpress.com/ Great to see the progress Jenifermarie!! Our build is coming along slowly and steadily too, just not as fast as it could have been due to delays in bricking. We had our roof completed last week (except the lower roof), and I am hoping eaves to go in this week. Do you still have scaffolding on? Looks like you have insulation completed on first floor but not on GF? Looks like you have insulation completed on first floor but not on GF? We had some rails on our lower roof last week. I think they should be gone now. The rest of the scaffold came down about 2 weeks ago. Some of those photos are from Monday during inspection, the insulation photo was from the SS on Friday morning. We got our gyprock invoice today (yes an invoice on a Saturday....) so I will be heading over tomorrow to check that as I’m having a hard time believing it is done when it was only due to start on Friday. Glad to hear you’re getting slow and steady progress too. I have to admit the roof and scaffold stage felt like it dragged on. I think it’s just because there are so many scaffold adjustments along the way before something can happen. We went gutters > upper roof > eaves > cladding and downpipes > painting eaves, cladding and downpipes > upper scaffold removed > lower gutters > lower roof > lower eaves Brick clean was in there somewhere before the scaffold came down too. Building Wisdom Aspiration 31 at Willowdale https://ourwillowdalehome.wordpress.com/ Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 11374Jun 30, 2018 10:05 pm Jenifermarie, wow, fantastic progress there, especially between Friday and Saturday - for gyprock! I hope the weather stays fine over next few weeks and our tradies pick up some speed to bring the progress in line with what it should have been. We dont like this colour and I believe that they can get trimming pieces similar colour to the timber. Certainly bunnings offer a few colour options. Anyone got any experience in this? see photos below. thank you.
