Your CSO should fix this for you. Ours is around 4K. Chompy - I am a big fan of tiles. They are natural & looks great. Colorbond in some designs kills the look. We are in Tile house now & being an old build the tiles looked faded when we moved in 8 years ago. This is normal. It cost use $1500 to respray the tiles & they look brand new ever since. So if tiles do look faded over the years, it does not cost much to respray them. Thanks Aaron2008 and lombieagle! I am now chasing W for that. Found few other mistakes - I really hope they turn it around quickly so we can also hit construction asap! For roof, I am a big fan of tiles as well, and have upgraded to Terracotta tiles as I was advised that it does not have fading problem. We also have PP as our SS. So far he has been great. He's great with communication and doesn't mind a text message anytime. Haven't had a lot of time to enjoy the home as yet. Landscaping is still unfinished, and we had the paving disaster around the pool (3/4 laid but all had to be ripped up by us as tiler did a runner after I told him he had to start again....) and there's been a few other sour spots, so the last 6 weeks haven't been fun. The repaving should be finished this week, and handover of the pool also this week or next week. Having solar panels installed on Thursday, and then I will push the for the landscaping to be completed by the end of the month. We have maintenance inspection this coming Friday. Our list was quite long, although there isn't anything that is too major - one bathroom internal wall has dipped a little on roof-line, the alfresco wall over our dining stacker door has bowed, and the stairs were finished pretty poorly with lots of spots to touch up. Other than that its just the usual sanding/paint touch ups, mortar touch ups in brickwork and some other marks/spots that require maintenance. Still love the house though, so nice and big and open, lots of space for us and visitors. Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 8886Jan 15, 2018 9:56 pm singalg Great news doosra ! Can you please share your experience with purchasing downlights? Did you purchase the clipsal that WH uses or another brand? Cool v Warm? We have 80 to purchase so starting to research. I guess some bits and pieces for the inspection is expected. I hope you get the tiling sorted and just enjoy your beautiful house. The good thing is that atleast now we are in the same calendar year in which we are expecting the builds A question for people who have received their Draft End Panels: - If you are using tiles/timber flooring in place of Carpet - is their a separate line item for Carpet refund? I dont see that in my DEP. - For rainwater tank, if your requirement is to have a bigger rainwater tank in place of 3000 lt tank provided by W, have you received a credit/adjustment for this 3000 lt tank? - Has any of you made any changes to Rain Water tank? If yes, how is that coordinated, and at what stage? I had noted down a few credits as I knew everything would be washed off our mind by this time. This is d time to bring it up. Hope you sorted it out. Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 8893Jan 17, 2018 4:58 pm tjuls we were initially also rejected because we are a battle axe block even though we don't share a driveway, the driveway is 5 meters wide and our block without the driveway is 2200m2, we escalated it and they then came back and said they would do it. Maybe ask for them to reconsider like we did We had something similar happen and ended up with Wincrest bespoke. Fantastic service and will build on almost any site. They are green timber. That's termite resistant isn't it? So why is it necessary for the termite protection surrounding the house? Under the Australian standards you technically don't need both, but they do it for extra protection. Not needed though. Have been reading along with interest and glad to see everyone progressing well. @msjovi- your house looks bloody fantastic! I'm green with envy right now 😁 We finally got word back from WH after 4 months waiting for tender. Unfortunately WH won't come near our house with a 10 foot pole. They have declined to take up on our KDRB project for our house due to traffic condition ( it being a corner block next to a one way street which has abit of traffic in the PM). They also suggested we go through a custom builder. ..haha.. So we now have to go regroup and decide what to do next- try another project builder or bite the bullet and pay the extra $$ for a private builder. Just wanted to say thank you to everyone who has helped answer questions along the way. For those building/in admin, best of luck with ur homes and hope the result is well worth the wait. For those that are enjoying your new Wisdom homes right now- lie by the pool/ in the alfresco area/on the grass and have a long island tea for me will ya? 😉 @MrsL- good luck with the birth and bub. Life is about to change ( for the better) 😁 I think you dodged a bullet. Speak to Wincrest Bespoke based in Northbridge. Fabulous design and customer service. Prices are on par with Wisdom. We had a bad experience with Wisdom as well and ended up with Wincrest as our neighbours are building with them. At this stage I just have a preliminary estimate from the sales consultant. It seems like even with the signature package there are so many optional upgrades you need to provision for just to ensure you have something which looks good at the end instead of looking unfinished and cheap looking. I now want to try and get as much bang for my buck as possible by doing some things after handover. One thing in particular I'm thinking of is the render / stone cladding to front façade. The Majestic display home in Oran Park has rendering costed at $9k. The stone cladding is POA. All up I'm guessing this will be around the $15k mark. Can much money be saved by doing this afterwards and is it practical to do so? Hi Funk52, We are taking a different approach we are having WH do just about everything, especially that type of essential works. We just want to move in with everything completed and enjoy our new home. To save a small percentage of your contract price to organise and deal with tradesmen, having building material still onsite, etc after you have moved in is it really worth it? Consider occupancy certificate approvals impacts? Good luck! Hi Funk52 You can definitely do the render afterwards. I am in the industry and a house your size in acrylic render ( where the paint colour is included in the render as opposed to sand and cement render which needs painting afterwards) should set you back $25-30,000 for the whole house. You will need to specify common bricks which are cheaper to buy and lay then face bricks. So Wisdom should give you a credit. If you are doing a pool, you can easily have the pool company do a separate CDC approval. If the pool is close to the house you will need to get the structure in first so that Wisdom can pier near the pool. Once the pool structure is in, they will fence it and cover it while the house it built. The pool builder will then come and finish it after handover. good luck Simeon McGovern Affordable Custom Homes, We design and build to your budget Ashington Homes www.ashingtonhomes.com.au Can someone please offer some advice?
