Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 8761Jan 03, 2018 7:58 pm Thanks for the info spk_homebuild, that really helps. $2K is quite an amount but given what you mentioned about cleaning (which is true), and also since it will look better - I plan to request W for a quote anyways, and also will see if they charge any admin fee. that's a good one jenifermarie, $600 is fairly decent amount and by spending a little bit extra atleast you get piece of mind by putting in your own preferred appliances. We plan to go ahead with ILVE appliances only - since it is standard inclusion in all W homes. I hope they're good. They seem to be pretty expensive. The 90cm cooktop oven is about 3.5k at Harvey Norman Doosra, that's what I also found, but the reviews/forums (whirlpool) has more negative comments than anything - which is where my concern was coming from. I hope thats not the case. I haven’t read the complaints but I’d guess it’s because they’re so expensive people expect perfect? From memory a few on here have said the dishwasher isn’t great but the oven is good. Because the dishwasher has a cutlery tray it’s hard to fit things in so I’ll replace that with a basket. [/quote] For those still at selections stage - we opted just to have the dishwasher provision put in (no cost), we got a $600 credit for the ILVE dishwasher and we’re going to buy our own when we move in. We provided the specs of the one we want to buy to Timpelle so they would ensure the cavity was the right size but most dishwashers are a standard size anyway. Wisdom was way too expensive! Building the Washington 29 with Wisdom Homes Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 8764Jan 04, 2018 6:28 am Checked kitchen quotes. $810 extra for separate cook top and oven in lieu of freestanding. $960 additional cost for extra base cabinet and caeserstone bench to suit. So they don’t charge you to cut a hole in the bench, they charge you for an additional unit cause it’s not there in a freestanding unit. Wisdom was way too expensive! Is it the actual quote after slab that was too expensive or the estimate during admin? Our initial quote was ridiculously high too but I’ve read here on this forum that the prices become much more reasonable later. We’re lined up to meet with WL onsite early January to prepare final quote so we’ll find out soon if that’s the case for us! She said those doors are expensive and better to do it after handover and she will instead make it square set (pic 1) to allow for the sliding doors. Was she right in making it square set? Wondering why she didn't just put in a provision for a cavity sliding door? It's a smallish difference in looks right? Apparently with cavity sliders it makes the wall quite flimsy - but I just wanted as much natural light to come through when we aren't using that room and the doors are open, so it's not a long dark hallway. Building the Washington 29 with Wisdom Homes Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 8771Jan 04, 2018 8:04 am Actually... i might send her an email now and just ask if ok to add the CSD - i know headoffice is closed until the 8th. We had our appointment with her in December - a week before they closed so it's highly unlikely she's even submitted our final variations to HO anyway. For a plush panel 2340x820 CSD its $580, to upgrade the profile to a LIN 1 is another $550. So double LIN1s in standard size would cost you $2260. Any size above 820 wide the door becomes custom, so we got 2 2340x1020mm HLR230 doors which were a $385 profile upgrade each on top of the $800 for standard flush panel. On a 820mm door it’s only $85 to upgrade to the HLR230 profile, so double standard size HLR230s would have cost us $1330, not much more than the single 1020mm. Not sure how much the 1200mm wide ones are, I dread to think! We got 2 sets of barben 450mm back to back handles for $290. I think going for the 1020mm wide door would probably look better than the 820mm? I sent our consultant an email to see if she can delete the "square set opening to front lounge" and instead add "2340mm high x 1020mm wide flush panel cavity sliding doors to front Lounge in lieu of standard" as suggested by washington29. The doors as per my pics, look amazing but just in case the upgrade goes on the bottom of the priority list, i would still like to have a sliding door there for now to close off the lounge-turned-theatre room! The ones on the display home she said it cost 6k, so that is why she suggested to do it after handover, which i get. But i didn't think to just add a CSD instead as a cheaper alternative for now. Let's see what she says - hopefully not too late to change without incurring a re-draw fee. I am confident she hasn't sent it off to HO yet - unless she was extra extra efficient (our siting appointment was a week before HO closed for the year!) No the square set you need if the track is on the wall like the 2 doors you posted pics of. 1020 looks better than 820 if having just one but now I know the cost I probably would’ve gone 2 820s instead of 1 1020. You can get 1200 wide as well Building Monte Carlo 40- Wisdom homes Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 8776Jan 04, 2018 9:22 am Thanks again MandM+4! In hindsight, think 6k for those upgrade doors like my pics are pretty steep - i would rather spend that on something else! They do look amazing, but if we did the CSD instead with a LIN1 door, it would still look great. Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 8777Jan 04, 2018 9:35 am singalg A question abt the ILVE kitchen appliances to those who have moved in their new houses and have used them already - how are you finding these appliances? how is ILVE stacking up to the other appliances you have used in the past? any good/bad experiences? The freestanding oven is great, nice and big as we only had a 600mm b4 in our old house. The oven is cooking really well. The dishwasher as default appears small but you can adjust the shelving so now its great for us, fits everything we need. Its operation appears the same as f&p and bosch washers that we have used b4. We got a credit for the supplied microwave and provisioned the tower to fit a smeg 60cm convection microwave oven. Between this and the ILVE oven we have more than enough cooking facilities.
