My husband is adamant on soft close doors and drawers. Did you guys find this as a "must" as well. I guess it's all personal preference..i think ours came to just over 1k for soft close doors and drawers.
I wanted undermount sink in the laundry just because it looks pretty but they are charging $550 for the cutout. I don't even use the laundry sink much.
The Butler's Pantry fitout came to almost 5k which i expected because i customised the design a little bit. Can't change much here "it is what it is".
I also wanted open shelving on a small part of the overhead cabinetry. The design meant it would only be 300mm wide which i didn't really like the look of, so might forego this concept all together!
It all adds up, doesn't it! I wanted to use part of the 15k voucher towards the kitchen but not ALL of it lol!!
I actually recommend getting cabinetry done during the build (if you have the budget) for those people who think it might be cheaper after handover. We have Knebel coming back to do some cabinetry in our Master and it is just as expensive as if we had got it in the original build. We only did it in our home theatre. We also received quotes from other businesses and they were very expensive. We used an IKEA cabinet in the upstairs lounge and it looks nice and was a lot cheaper than inbuilt cabinetry (BESTA I think it is). We also bought IKEA units for the kids wardrobes rather than getting them custom...which was so expensive for what it was. Wish we got niches for all of our TV areas though so that we could have all of our cabinetry floating. It was the first time we had ever built and there were bits and pieces that we missed
I TOTALLY recommend soft close drawers/doors. We have them in the kitchen only and I wish we got them all over the house. We have 3 kids who are constantly at the kitchen drawers and I don't have to worry about them banging them constantly!
