Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 16385May 30, 2022 12:15 pm diepiggy Our paperwork is in DA now 👍👍👍Wisdom suggested in site mid July, not confident they will be ready by then.🥴 Still,we have booked our demolition for first week July, so wish us luck! any progress is good right well done! As i remember our paperwork got submitted on the 26th August and was we received stamp plans council approved by first week Oct. We demolished our house 25Oct. We got our final plans and documents issued on 17th Feb from Wisdom. Commenced construction 23Mar. Note that during these months we had a slight demolition problems, heavy rain, etc hence why the timeline is dragging us insane Right now bricks are bulked up in our front house ready for bricklaying so it is very quick once the slab is done. Wow how exciting for you!! Our plans went to council and then came back, needed arborist report. Done and waiting to go back… Learning patience! Actually no I think I’m just becoming more impatient. 🤣 Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 16388May 30, 2022 7:48 pm AnnaP diepiggy Our paperwork is in DA now 👍👍👍Wisdom suggested in site mid July, not confident they will be ready by then.🥴 Still,we have booked our demolition for first week July, so wish us luck! any progress is good right well done! Not to discourage you but there is massive delays in construction phase as well.. With our build, we had a delay of 7 weeks before the timber arrived and then 10 weeks before the bricklayer started + another 5 weeks or so before they came back to finish up.. There is still a huge backlog the industry is coping with. Just sharing my experience so it helps manage your expectation. To add to this, I'm 32 weeks in to the build and they still haven't completed the external cladding. I've seen other builders get this far in 2 months. I hope for all your sakes this rain stops and the traddie shortage is resolved. Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 16393May 30, 2022 9:04 pm I guess so. Usually, the builder needs to pay $40 for each day after the build period + weather claims.. Honestly, the way my build has progressed so far, I would rather pay $40 dollar to them for each day they finish early. LOL.. its that bad. Just as an insight for youse, looking around and speaking to other people, the small builders seem to be stealing the available tradies, paying them the demanded wages so that they could finish their projects in time and sell whereas big builders cannot do that because of the volume they have. Other factors like shortage in supplies, small builders can head to bunnings to quickly buy supplies. Big builders cannot do that due to their system, process, ordering channels, etc. Rain has also been the biggest contributor in all these delays and backlog. Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 16394May 31, 2022 10:27 am On top of all of above, we are also facing price increase prior the site start. I am not sure if the custom builders have the same issues. To build a house to me, it's very frustrated process. I have no faith in them. Every time they tell me the carpenter is coming to finish the outside it rains, then on the weeks that its not raining the carpenter isn't scheduled to do the work. Makes no sense to me, all I know its been 5 weeks since the roof went on and all they've done is clean the bricks. I'm hoping they'll finish the cladding and eaves this week. They still need to do a clean inside including window frames and get all the fixed windows and sliding doors in before they are even remotely ready to start the inside. Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 16397Jun 15, 2022 4:03 pm I booked my disconnections and knockdown (as well as temp fencing, moving trucks etc) for the first week in July on the recommendation of my CSR. Moving in with inlaws so not really wanting to be out before we have to be 🤣 CSR told me in May that they will be able to take over the site in July... And yet, half way through June our DA hasn't progressed, and from what I can tell they won't be starting in construction for at least 8-10 weeks after approval. Just spent the day pushing everything back a month... Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 16398Jun 15, 2022 4:07 pm I get that the process is slow, and I am honestly fine with that. But why the f#&k do they say 9 months when I can't see any possible way they will be on site in less then 11?? The wife and I have been extremely organised, there has been less then a week total delays on our side. And yet we are at 9 months right now with multiple months minimum still to go. All I want is a REALISTIC timeline. Why is that so damn hard??? Rant over Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 16399Jun 15, 2022 4:33 pm diepiggy I get that the process is slow, and I am honestly fine with that. Rant over I lost all the excitement of so called "build your dream home", since the end of 2020 I am still in the DA process, I booked and will go ahead my demo even without DA approval, I bear all the risk just to make sure there won't be any delay from my end. This is a very frustrated process. Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 16400Jun 15, 2022 4:35 pm Mate, I am so sorry to hear that! I know I am probably coming across arrogant, complaining when people like you are in a far worse place. I am a team leader and I understand how important communication is, and how important it is to manage expectations. Wisdom really needs to work on this! Can someone please offer some advice? Im DESPERATE. Because I'm completely and utterly exhausted. How long are variations taking with other companies at the moment? We… 0 18466 In fairness nobody gave a crap about the ACCC and the gag clauses continued in the pro forma templates of a few other builders after the ACCC took on Wisdom, and more… 19 73473 Hi Everyone, I am exploring builder in NSW and received a very tempting quote from Wisdom home for their momentum series. I just want to know experience of building… 0 8235 |
