Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 16135Jun 16, 2021 9:29 am kiffoke Just a counterpoint to the above - I had my first solar system installed in 2012 and it's been a really good investment, even if you're not at home during the day and assuming you can run aircons and dishwasher's while the sun is shining. Of course the more you can run during the day, the more you save, so consider pool pumps, heat pump hot water etc too. I agree the Stoddard Pay offer isn't great - effectively locks you into a really bad deal, but I guess could be suitable if you weren't going to install solar at all or didn't care too much which energy plan you ended up with. There may be other options - including your own system installed after handover and there might be options to install conduit or cabling at rough in stage. Just to add a bit to the discussion. The best alternative is to be free from contracts and schemas. Have you ever encounter a contract that is drawn in your favour? I did my homework and end up rejecting "the offer". It would be beneficial for all involved here if anybody has good experience with batteries based system and he/she can share it. Tesla cost a fortune that I know, however, they are really good, returning investment is a bit long, similarly, the initial investment is high. Any other alternatives? Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 16136Jun 16, 2021 9:52 am Batteries just aren't feasible at the moment (in this country anyway, excluding SA). They all cost a small fortune and would take most people over 10 years to make their money back. Your best bet is signing up with either Origin or AGL on their Solar plans and a get 16-17 cents feed in tariff. Depending on your system size and usage, these plans could leave you with credit on your account which can either be rolled over, used for your gas or even paid into your bank account. You can always add a battery at a later date when the prices come down. If you want to do you extra bit for the environment and go with a battery but don't want to pay that $10K upfront then the NSW Government has a solar battery loan offer that provides you with up to a $14,000 loan that can be paid over a maximum of 8 years --> https://energysaver.nsw.gov.au/househol ... loan-offer Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 16137Jun 16, 2021 10:51 am Adam_17 Batteries just aren't feasible at the moment (in this country anyway, excluding SA).
