Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 10163Apr 03, 2018 7:36 pm ASJ1981 Oh wow. Our wonderful Electrical Consultant made the changes for us and didn't charge. Phew! Also.... it seems WH is now including pendants from Beacon Lighting! Going to have a thorough look tonight as it looks like some of the ones i had my eye on are actually on the list provided by Wisdom - the price includes installation too. If i like any of this list and the price is cheaper or close to retail price, might consider WH to do it as it will save time getting an Electrician in etc... That’s such great news that you got it all changed. Even better news if you can get some the light fixtures from beacon and have them installed before handover. I know Metricon offer that, I hassled W about this when we were at selections. I figure if they can source different tapware from Reece, they could do the same with Beacon for lighting. Too late for us but I’m glad that it might make life easier for you. From my research, I’m allowing about $100/light for install costs from an electrician. From my research when I could find costs, most charged per light rather than per hour. I’m hoping I can find someone local who is a bit cheaper as we have 11 lights and 5 fans to install post handover Building Wisdom Aspiration 31 at Willowdale https://ourwillowdalehome.wordpress.com/ Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 10164Apr 03, 2018 7:45 pm Jenifermarie ASJ1981 Oh wow. I was actually about to ask how much electricians cost to install pendants! I'm looking at the range now and they are quite nice! There is probably about a $50-$80 markup (based on full price) and that includes installation already. I just worry that 1) my taste may change in a years time and 2) hate for it to become discontinued... I also have 5 fans to install after handover and LOTS of downlights so we need to get in an electrician regardless. Hopefully we could find a local business to do it too for far less! WH must have caught on and decided to do the Beacon Lighting thing based on feedback and how some builders have started doing this too! Either way I’m not accepting it, it would mean we would end up with a huge flyscreen across the middle of the window. Building Wisdom Aspiration 31 at Willowdale https://ourwillowdalehome.wordpress.com/ I would definitely raise it now. Reason being they will have to get a new one made and its going to so much harder to install one the brickwork is in. Just remember, you are the client!!! Had a call from Craig, our area construction manager, today so I brought it up with him. I’d rather get it fixed now than cause a delay later on. He called to tell me off for being on site so I had nothing to lose discussing it now. Also asked to get our weekly updates so I don’t need to check what’s happening each week. I will be interested to see how long it takes them to get it fixed. Our window frames all had labels saying they were made on 9th March, so the lead time is anywhere up to 6 weeks assuming they were ordered during production estimating in Feb. Building Wisdom Aspiration 31 at Willowdale https://ourwillowdalehome.wordpress.com/ That’s good news you’ve been able to discuss it. How did he know you’d been on site? Lol what do they expect you to do if no one is keeping you updated?! We have already gone to tender but decided to make changes post tender. The changes are sketched in the images below. Tender #2 in a few weeks. We are building the Majestic 38 which is a new design from Wisdom. We extended the garage and are making the house a bit wider due to our block size. PS: We have gone to tender with Clarendon and Wisdom. Not sure which one we will go with yet.. Depends on price etc. Anyway, if you see something that we have missed then do let me know Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ stevezau, we have the same kitchen layout as yours. we have also added an additional cavity door from laundry to kitchen though. The consultant emailed me back this afternoon and made the changes as I requested (yay!)... and she also said that they now offer pendant lights from Beacon Lighting. I had a look tonight of the ranges on offer and compared to Beacon Lighting's website and the price wasn't much difference (surprisingly!) We only have a handful of pendants around the house and the price came to $1,300 for 7 pendants and that includes installation already. I think it's pretty good, right? That's one thing to tick off my list if we were to get WH to do it! Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 10168Apr 04, 2018 7:12 am Micdeez Hi everyone. Has anyone built the Metro 27? We have a narrow block and this looks to be the most attractive design to date. Cheers Hey ☺️ I was looking at this house too. Did you end up building it!? Funny how you have been scolded, in fairness they have insurance issues etc but they could be nicer about the whole thing. Just make sure you wear your safety gear next time ( boots, hard hat, hi vis vest etc) just to be on the safe side. I think you might just get in before us. haha Our 10 days after PCI to complete the fix up work is over, but we're still not in. We have a sliding door with a bent frame from way back which they havent replaced yet. We then have the skirting with different colours and still is, after painter came back to fix. Incomplete work, house is still a mess and issues here and there. Also we cannot get our interim occupancy certificate because our retaining wall is non compliant, WL trying to sort it out so not sure how long that will take. What a nightmare.
