Doing my tiles and kitchen appt tomorrow, anyone have any tips or something I should keep an eye out for? Totally just winging this! Hahaha. We have a basic idea of what floor tiles we want (in the display Home) and a basic layout of the kitchen but otherwise no idea!
Thanks so much
Just keep in mind that extra laying costs can really add up. For example if there’s a 300x450 wall tile you like, it will be thousands of dollars cheaper than 300x600 if it’s in all your bathrooms. We spent $6000 on wet area tiling and most of that was from upgrading to a 300x300 rectified tile on the floors and a 300x600 ($35 tile) on the walls. Only 3 walls were full height.
Coloured grout is an upgrade but it’s cheap, so if you choose feature tiles for your niches think about changing the grout colour from the standard white.
You get one free requote with Di Lorenzo so if you are worried about your budget you could always pick a cheaper tile as a back up in case your quote comes over budget.
We chose to tile our alfresco as I’ve heard it can be difficult to get tilers after handover, in hindsight we should have left it as we’ve decided to deck the pool area next to it. But anyway that cost just over $100 per sqm for builders range tiles to give you a rough idea.
Kitchen is easier, and you can ask for more than one option to be quoted up if you aren’t sure what will be in budget. They send you the quote and then you just select yes on the options you want.
Have fun
Thanks so much! Good to know about the grout too would never have thought of that! I’m interested to see what comes in the “standard” range compared to what is super expensive!
