Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 2788Sep 26, 2016 2:34 pm Hi Auzrusso, I believe it was $125 per light. I didn't ask about costs to upgrade the glass staircase - when it comes time to renovate we will just get a staircase company to do it. I don't have a breakdown of the costs for additional pot drawers and pull out bin on me but will check the Knebal sheet this evening. Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 2789Sep 26, 2016 2:35 pm Actually while I've got it out... Colours in total I think came to 6.5k extra (but that includes the render I think!) Our brick upgrade was 3.1k Portico render - 3.1k Carpet and tile upgrade - 7.2k Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 2790Sep 26, 2016 2:37 pm Auzrusso very useful tips Grek How much each down light cost? Did you ask how much would it cost to upgrade glass to staircase also Undersink bin & additional pot drawers ? Thanks Downlights were $130 incl gst last January. Our staircase was 3.9k including staining (or close to) I've attached a picture from an old display home of what we are getting. I'm Pretty sure that is the case Greg but I think they have nearly identical house plans in a lower range.. Like the Washington (mid-range) and the Majestic (prestige range) are practically the same but different inclusions. We are looking at tendering for the Aspiration 31 which is in their Smart range. We get the option to pay extra for Prestige but it's not the base price like the larger homes such as Majestic, Ambassador, Manhattan etc. None of those would fit on our whopping 335m2 block! Haha it's amazing what you can fit on a block that size! Where are you building? I think our neighbour is building the Aspiration! But pretty sure it's 39 squares. Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 2797Sep 26, 2016 3:22 pm When we bought ours, the smallest were about 290m2. We originally wanted larger but compromised to get a parkfront lot instead so ours is shallower than the standard 30m block. Wisdom must be making a killing as blocks get shorter because we found very few other options that were short enough to fit. They had 3 options that would work for us. Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 2798Sep 26, 2016 4:35 pm The new strategy for these volume builders is to actually buy the land and develop it themselves. That way they just offer home and land packages that have everything including landscaping. And the more they are involved in means the more than can mark up. Wisdom have one near where we live which is 14 houses - ordinarily there would have been maybe 10 blocks there around 450 so they get an extra 4 houses on and the price doesn't really change. Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 2799Sep 26, 2016 5:06 pm Greg_K Hi msjovi, They should be able to give you a computer generated completion time which is basically a date calculated using the times in your contract. Our SS was happy to give this to us when we met and we had PCI 2 days before. If he won't give you a date you are well within your rights to ask Wisdom because the contract time is quite opaque and we could never work if it was from when the portaloo arrived, the excavation started or the slab being laid. That way at least you have bit of an idea. Our SS was SK and he was very good, helpful with answering questions and giving feedback. Thanks for the advice Greg, Hashem and MrsL. It's easy enough to work out the date based on weeks specified in the contract but as you state Greg, I'm not sure what is considered to be the start of construction. SS said he'll call at the end of the week with an update so I'll ask for clarification then. He seemed really nice.. I was just taken aback by how blunt he was about possible delays, dependence on weather etc. He said he likes to talk worst case scenario so we don't have false expectations and that he's very picky with the trades he uses which may mean delays here and there. Not what I wanted to hear from the first phone call! Happy to hear that he's picky about quality though, so that's a good thing. Ours was kind of the same when he asked if I was happy with the slab and progress so far - I was like "yes! Excavation to slab in a week. Love how fast it's going!" And he's like "no. Uh. Um. It won't always be so fast. Please prepare your self for some very slow weeks or weeks where you don't even really see anything happening." Yes Greg. I think wisdom are doing a development in the gables in box hill too. Can someone please offer some advice? Im DESPERATE. Because I'm completely and utterly exhausted.
