You might hit additional fees from council or other departments. I have found them to be very transparent about costs and realistic with quotes. I know some builders won't give you a fixed price, they estimate but if more concrete is required etc there's an additional fee during build. wisdom don't do that. Thank you Rocchet hope we wont get hit by council requirement cost Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 2467Aug 23, 2016 8:50 am ShuddaBeenATradie Auzrusso we are about to sign our tender. Someone just scared us that there are lot of hidden cost once construction starts with Wisdom. Please give us your feedback on this. /quote] another builder? you'll be glad to know we haven't had a cent of variation in price since we signed our contract. yes this was told by another builder good to hear though Wisdom is fare about price. I think we should be careful about variations during appoitments Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 2468Aug 23, 2016 9:19 am Auzrusso ShuddaBeenATradie Auzrusso we are about to sign our tender. I think we should be careful about variations during appoitments We were also told similar stuff by another builder. Apparently their selling point is fixed tender. I think it was Edenbrae who advised other builders got hidden cost but they have got a fixed tender. We almost went with them but the only downside was the kitchen was not as we wanted. Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 2469Aug 23, 2016 9:29 am The council costs are not a Wisdom requirement and its generally in the form of a bond - ie assuming once your build is complete and you get final occupancy certificate and there hasn't been any damage to the kerb or road etc then you should get it back. Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 2470Aug 23, 2016 9:08 pm Rocchet Kirst10 that's brilliant! Great news. We are still deliberating over bricks.....missgoldy your bricks look like they have two tones. Do they? Are they coloured through or surface colour? My husband loves your brick and wants to see them at austral this weekend but the Pgh espresso which are similar were surface coloured and we were worried about the chipping. Sorry just spotted this They are surface colour, but the base colour isn't too different to the surface. Our bricks are one tone, but they have layered the portico bricks in a haphazard configuration, perhaps because it's going to be rendered! But we also got our nature strip absolutely torn up by the idiot bobcat driver!! They completely didn't drive on our driveway layback. Got a call from our developer saying how bad it was and that they were out there with someone from the council who said that they could issue fines for this!!! Who would drive a bobcat on soggy grass after all the rain we have had! We are signing contract tomorrow. We just realised that the changes we made to our bedroom side windows will require council approval because they are too low to meet privacy standards. (Our side windows need to be privacy screened if below 1.5 m from floor level upstairs, ours are 1.1) Not sure what to do. Is council likely to approve this? Was thinking we could add decorative privacy film to the bottom half of the Windows but not sure how wisdom would do this and don't know if they would change the plans if we were doing it ourselves? Any advice? majestic35.weebly.com Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 2477Aug 25, 2016 10:05 pm Rocchet Exciting to see so much progress for everyone! We are signing contract tomorrow. Any advice? Congrats! We moved our bedroom windows (bed 3 and 4) and the upstairs rumpus to be highlines to combat this. Our sales guy recommend it actually using the example of small children. He said as an adult you might not worry about people looking in, because you'll usually think to put the blind down, but kids don't. So safety of our future-kids won out over big windows. Just a thought x We had high lines but one of my kids is claustrophobic and said she felt she was in a jail cell and the walls were closing in and didn't think she could cope with it. I thought she was being melodramatic but my mother agreed and said she didn't think she could live in a room without being able to see out either so we changed it. I just wish the sales guy had told us it wouldn't meet council regs. I don't even know if it will pass council now? majestic35.weebly.com Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 2480Aug 26, 2016 6:43 am Did anyone find mistakes in their contract? Were you still able to sign it or did you have to wait until they fixed it, then make another contract signing appointment? Thanks majestic35.weebly.com Can someone please offer some advice?
