Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 991Jun 15, 2015 12:12 pm VandM Hi Lstr123, Thanks for that info regarding the bricks. We want to go for a similar colour scheme. What other colours did you choose for garage door and gutters/fascia? I live in Penrith myself so will be sure to do a drive by of your place. Are you building the Ambassador? We are thinking of building it too and I am trying to get a good idea of what we want so that when we go to choose everything it is easier (hopefully!). It is great to hear that the Savannah facade is not far away too. It helps not to have to drive far to see it IRL. What facade did you choose? So if I was to email the brick places they will provide me with the standard brick range of Wisdom and addresses of houses that have used them? We are still in the process of building. Our house just got lined. We are building the ambassador. We went with the designer façade like the display home. A hefty upgrade but façade makes such a different - note that the façade price does not include any rendering that is required. We love our façade though! we chose Orpheous bricks, High reaches (white look) with foxtail (greyish) we have merbau posts, double merbau front doors (paid to have the hallway/entry widened) and also merbau garage doors. Our roof is monument colorbond as are windows. The house should be finishing up and coming together over the next month so feel free to stalk it there are a couple wisdoms in mulgoa rise. The Savannah façade is on Mulga Rise - Savannah on Bluestone Drive (completed), Designer- mine on Darug Ave and also I am not sure what the façade is called but theres an Aspirations on Ewan James Drive that is complete also. Yes - if you go to the provider and ask for a list of houses that have used the brick they will give it to you Yes - if you go to Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 992Jun 15, 2015 5:33 pm Lstr123 Hi Everyone! I was using the blog a lot pre build and then construction went underway and stopped following however jumped on and have been reading abit. For those interested in bricks, I am using the Whistunday - Orpheous. I am building in Mulgoa Rise on Darug Ave - 2 streets up from that Savannah Façade that someone took a pic of earlier. We were originally tossing up between PGH bricks aswell. Our area isn't saline effected so we didn't need that type of brick. At first we were unsure as driving around to see other homes that used the brick, it was yuck on all the homes, but we are quite happy with it. The colour looks good and is a dark brown/grey without being too dark. Also the base colour is a very similar colour so if there is chipping, you wont see orange bits of the actual brick. With the orpheous brick, the actual brick is brown also with the orpheous colour over it We have foxtail and high reaches as façade painted colours and monument windows and a roof. Happy with it all thus far ! Hope that helps! its such a hard choice to make. Oh, well.... We have upgraded to an orangey timber garage door, so it will go well with the chipped chocollato bricks Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 994Jun 15, 2015 6:52 pm We used a slurry face brick. (PGH TRUFFLE). What we found was, the samples we got had a darker base brick, which was a similar colour to painted/baked surface. When the bricks were delivered on site, the base brick was much lighter. I think they just use whatever base bricks they have at the time. I think I remember reading somewhere that they are not good for these things. Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 997Jun 15, 2015 10:02 pm OK. thanks for letting me know. I notice that the builders always use non-slurry bricks when they know beforehand that they will be rendering that part. Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 998Jun 19, 2015 2:44 pm We got a quote of $15k for our underfloor heating!!! The quotes I got independently was $7k. DiLorenzo refuses to give me a broken down quote and Wisdom refuses to get involved. I don't see why pay $15k just for the hell of it not knowing what I am getting. They seem to think money grows of our backs. Wisdom told us before that they can give you a credit for flooring if you don't go with them now they say except for bathrooms. So if I am forced to have my bathrooms done I am forced to get my underfloor heating done. This is absurd! I have told them that I will go with a private builder if this is how they do business. We have gone for PGH Chocolatto for our accent brick and our bricking should be finished this week. I was more worried about getting an actual brickie than them chipping but Wisdom came through with bricks arriving one day and brickies the next. I'm away for a few weeks but from the photos hubby has sent they look fine. If there are any chips I remember reading a thread where they touched it up with paint and it looked OK. I'm more worried about potential chips and scratches in the Caesarstone bench tops. I won't be so laid back about those!
