Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering INTERIOR FLOOR OPTIONS 21May 30, 2008 4:35 pm Thanks to all for your fantastic comments. It seems that everyone's experience with floors turns up good and bad points. The scratching and denting would probably really annoy me with wood - guess it is down to cork or tiles (again). If we went the tiled option, can anyone recommend particular tiles or grout? I have heard that rectified porcelain tiles have minimal grout between them and therefore would be less likely to cause hassles with dirty grout lines - can anyone comment (are there other problems with these type of tiles)? Has anyone had cork installed and how have they found it for scratching/wear? Also what sort of price should be paid for decent cork installed and laid (we are in Perth)?
Re: INTERIOR FLOOR OPTIONS 22May 30, 2008 7:30 pm Hi we are planning to have cork flooring but as yet our house is an unmodified sand pad so i can;t tell you what it's like. there weren't a lot of places to visit when we looked around in Perth in January. Found a great store in balcatta though that had very helpful people in it. they sold Premium Floors plantation cork flooring. They seemed good for advice on cork flooring. the guys had a range of wooden and cork flooring samples of different types. including laying, the price can vary depending on the cork you choose and whether or not you are having it glued down or having tongue and groove cork paneling.
We had decided on tongue and groove "copenhagen" not the cheapest cork and it was around 105-110 sqm to lay. - MJO floating flooring we've since decided on the glue down sort which is slightly less expensive and which we've decided works better for us than the tongue and groove type. Slightly thicker layer of cork/ decided that a non tongue and groove board system was better for our furniture choices.. The office for Premium floors in wa is 92401966. A levelling compound is usually required to ensure that any undulation is smoothed out, as a truly flat slab is as rare as!
Ash. Re: INTERIOR FLOOR OPTIONS 25May 30, 2008 8:11 pm re a few earlier comments on "dented" wooden floors. I've never seen a "dented" wooden floor. If you've got decent wood I think it'd take a hippo in stilettos. Maybe this is part of the "obesity crisis" I've read about ?
Seriously though, if you're worried about denting a wooden floor I'd also think twice about having normal plaster on the walls. That's even more easily 'dented', especially when hosting world federation wrestling tournaments. Do the hard jobs first.
