Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Apr 18, 2016 3:35 pm Hi,
We are about to begin the building journey with JG King. We have been provided a list of Essa Stone colours that we can select. Unfortunately, I can't find any samples or photos of these colours. Does anyone have any photos of: * Calcite * Silica * Nickel * Zinc * Limestone Cape and * Sandstone Cape I think they might be part of the new range that is launching. Thank you for your help Edit: I went out to Tullamarine today. The stone isn't in stock within Australia yet, however I was able to take a photo of the colours. I was out there last week and it helped enormously to see larger samples of the Laminex and they have the stone on display also. Re: Photos of Essa Stone colours 3Apr 18, 2016 4:06 pm I got samples delivered to me by requesting for some through their website. However, if it's a new range they might need you to go into their showroom. I might head there tomorrow, as we don't live far from Tullamarine. Re: Photos of Essa Stone colours 5Apr 20, 2016 10:35 pm Hi Jacinta, it's exciting to find another JG king build! We currently at slab stage and a friend who works at a kitchen company told me they had got rid of all there essastone in stock due to quality issues so you should get a better quality product with the new range. We have chosen new crystal salt essastone for our house so it will be interesting to see if we get it or we have to choose from the new range. They did say they will probably get the old stock so I hope the quality is good because we're paying for the upgrade. Can't wait to follow your build. Do you have a thread yet? Re: Photos of Essa Stone colours 6Apr 23, 2016 8:36 am Hi Jacinta, are we only allowed to pick from those 6? Or is that just cat 1? The essastone website shows 28 new colours, the old are all gone. I've been carrying around my new crystal salt sample trying to reselect our floor tile, it would have been handy if they had mentioned the stone will also need to be changed. Re: Photos of Essa Stone colours 7Apr 23, 2016 12:57 pm Hi bank i was talking to hubby (surtees) about this yesterday. Although they havent said anything yet from what ive read on here and heard from kitchen suppliers is that we probably wont be getting new crystal salt. I want to call jess at jg king and ask but hate bothering them but it would be nice to have time to check out the other options to colour match to all our preselected colours. Re: Photos of Essa Stone colours 8Apr 23, 2016 2:51 pm Yes it sounds that way. After a bit of googling last night it looks like some other builders have been notifying people over the last couple of months. I'm guessing kings are waiting until they have the elusive samples . My husband just spoke to Jo about seeing the colour girl (re our tile change) yesterday and she said nothing. She did say they don't currently have her booked to come to Geelong at all, now I think I know why, no point doing colour appointments if there's no stone samples! It doesn't seem that laminex have handled things too well not having samples before the change. I feel for you guys, at least we can change other colours if need be. I just hope there is something that is as white and as plain that isn't going to mean more $$$. It's all feeling very frustrating at the moment, I hope it's a more straight forward change than the tiles. Re: Photos of Essa Stone colours 9Apr 24, 2016 1:29 am Sorry for the late reply. It has been a crazy few days at work. Julia I'm hoping to start a thread for the build soon. We are going out to see our consultant again on Wednesday. Hopefully he has drawn up our new floor plan, as we made some changes to Astor. Bank, those are the 6 colours that JG King has listed for Cat 1. They were listed on my home estimate as I was accidently charged for Essastone benchtops (even though they are standard for the Allure range). Otherwise I'm sure nothing would have been mentioned. When I went to see the lady at Laminex, she had possibly 20 more stones. I didn't ask to look at the others though as she was a bit shocked that I had a list of those colours. She didn't mention when the new stone would be in though. They didnt even have them outside to view. Re: Photos of Essa Stone colours 10Apr 27, 2016 12:16 pm Apparently kings do have samples of the new colours and we can come and see them any time we like. We have been assured that there is a replacement for New cystal salt in the same cat. Not sure why they haven't let us all know, I hope they weren't just going to swap new cystal salt for the replacement with out saying anything, surely not. I will have to go and check it out for myself because their idea of "looks the same" and mine are likely very different lol. If they are talking about calcite from the cat 1 stones above it looks creamy online. Hopefully in person it will be more white and grey. The are plenty that look white on the essastone site but not in the cat 1 colours. Re: Photos of Essa Stone colours 11Apr 27, 2016 12:32 pm Phew i tried calling jess at kings today but didnt get through. This was going to be my question. Im really worried too as i dont want creamy at all it has to be white. We chose new crystal salt and i liked it! I dont want to have spent all this money on a stone i dont like Re: Photos of Essa Stone colours 13Apr 27, 2016 1:28 pm Banks is there any particular stage of the process when you are allowed to go out to the colour selection studio for JG King? We have paid our deposit to secure a promo and another deposit today (totaling $1500). Im wondering if we are close to colour selections or not. Re: Photos of Essa Stone colours 14Apr 27, 2016 1:40 pm Hi Jacinta, when i paid my inital $1500 deposit i had a quick look through the selections area. Its connected to the geelong office and it is small but has everything you need. (i was alittle disapointed it wasnt a grand showroom like porter davis and that but honestly it has everything you need without overwhelming you with to much choice. You can go in anytime but they might have appts which means you wpuldnt be able to have a look. Maybe call ahead and say your just wanting to check out the colour selections. I think they wanted to kill me because i took nearly every sample of lamminex they had lol . I also phoned jess at jg king and she said its pretty much a basic swap over. New crystal salt is calcite, she said its pretty much the same but i agree with bank i wont be assured until i see it myself tomorrow when i go in. Fingers crossed its very similar. Re: Photos of Essa Stone colours 15Apr 27, 2016 1:43 pm Jacinta.C Banks is there any particular stage of the process when you are allowed to go out to the colour selection studio for JG King? We have paid our deposit to secure a promo and another deposit today (totaling $1500). Im wondering if we are close to colour selections or not. They seem pretty flexible with the order that things are done in (at least in Geelong). When we asked we were told when ever we want! We chose to do it as soon as possible with the intention of getting our developer approval done early so we weren't competing against neighbours for facade and colours. Almost a year after paying the $1500 the developer approval still isn't done, so that worked out well lol! Shouldn't be far away now. I think we did it straight after we got our first lot of modified drawings back, that way they have correct quantities for flooring and the like. By that stage we had had months to look around at colours and lots of visits to beaumonts so we had some idea of the tiles before the colour appointment. After the colour appointment I pondered the choices for another couple of months while they were fixing drawings (I'm a major over thinker!!), before I put in our final choices. We're revisiting it all now since our floor tile has been discountinued and of course the essatone change. Re: Photos of Essa Stone colours 16Apr 27, 2016 10:10 pm Julia I think I will also be the one taking all of the samples lol. I have a good idea of what we are looking for. However, I'm also very indecisive. Put me in front of a few samples and I will change my mind completely lol. We are going to see if they are free next week to have a wander through. Our land hasn't been titled yet; but hopefully we aren't too far off. We are also leaning towards Calcite for the benches. We are trying to avoid upgrading some of the minor details and leaving the money for carpet upgrades etc. Re: Photos of Essa Stone colours 17Apr 28, 2016 2:17 pm So i have some photos, ran into Juila so i know she doesn't need them but if anyone else is following this and wondering about New crystal salt the replacement is similar, i'd say it is greyer, but at least that is better than creamy or browner. The lighting isn't great in there but this is calcite sitting on the old New crystal salt. I have no idea what we will end up doing because the most likely replacement for our discountinued floor tile is dirtier looking than the old one so thinking maybe we need to change to something more plain. The photo below shows (clockwise) pure cloud (cat 2), calcite (cat 1), white concrete (cat 4), and crystalite (cat 2) sitting on my potential floor tile. I was taken with the white concrete, its a matt finish, very sexy, but the tile varies batch to batch and I wasn't sure it looked quite right with the browner of the two I have. Re: Photos of Essa Stone colours 18Apr 28, 2016 5:46 pm I really like the pure cloud against your tiles. The calcite looks similar to new crystal salt, but it looks like it blends in a bit with the tiles. There is definitely a difference between new crystal salt and calcite. I'm not sure if everyone will be happy with the straight swap. Re: Photos of Essa Stone colours 19Apr 29, 2016 10:14 am It was a great surprise to meet bank at jg king geelong! Always nice to put faces to names. Below is the catagory 1 essa stone. Its definitely different but similar. Im still undecided what to do i think u will end up leaving it with calcite but im abit disapointed its not as white as i was wanting.
