Go see Eden Brae, Rawson and McDonald Jones. It all depends what you want to build, budget etc. Your question is super vague. Re: Building my first home? 3Jun 09, 2014 1:05 pm That's not a straight forward question to answer. It all depends on budget and preference. But even the most expensive builder doesn't guarantee a 'problem-free' experience, however they do have less risk compared to the low budget builders during build time and post-construction support. I personally would choose based on review, friends referral, current promo the builder have, the salesperson who's helping us, and budget in my pocket. We went with Dale Alcock because they ticked the boxes for us. I'm building in Melbourne but i had a look at dale alcok and they have a company called homebuyers. I might check them out. Don't want to spend more than $350 as it is my first home. Don't think i want to build with a smaller builder Re: Building my first home? 5Jun 09, 2014 3:07 pm Just to let you know (in case you aren't aware). Dale Alcock do not own Homebuyers Centre, but they are in one group called the ABN group. So they are managed separately and do not use the same trades... Apart from using a less expensive trades, they are pretty much a spec'd down model of the Dale Alcock houses. If you want to keep high quality building but save money on the house, you can also consider doing your internal post-construction (eg. flooring, painting, a/c, etc). More troublesome though.. All builders come with set of problems.. but I try to read reviews from people, and if the builder are responsive with the negative feedbacks, then it gives me good confidence that at least if they stuff up they try to rectify it. Some builders are pretty horrific in that they don't try to rectify what they've done wrong. These are the ones I steer away from. Anyway, good luck and have fun! We met probably 10 builders before settling down with our choice, it was a headache but good fun My first build journey here https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=71028 Re: Building my first home? 6Sep 07, 2014 7:15 pm Hi we are building the noosa 29 with Coral homes, feel free to check out my blog http://ournewbrickhome.blogspot.com.au/ Re: Building my first home? 7Sep 11, 2014 10:46 am Building your first home should be an exciting event in your life. Choose your builder carefully and don’t get sucked in by the smoke and mirrors and all that sales talk. Find a company were you can speak to the actual builder not just a sales person and you will be on the right track. Just remember you will get what you pay for so don’t make the mistake for engaging the cheapest builder to build your home.
