Glad there are so many HGWAers on here, so much helpful advice TIMELINE: 10/05/2014 - Signed up for block 15/06/2014 - Signed PWA with Home Group WA This is our block, 569sqm, fairly rectangular but quite short and squat. 20.76m frontage but only 18m long. Titles are expected in November. Then DH was looking online at HGWA and found this had just been released. I made him go out and buy the weekend paper last Saturday afternoon to find out the price of it! Before we sign we're going to tell HGWA we want a $2.50 discount for the cost of the paper as their website doesn't have prices on it Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ This is the first revision of our plan, we went to meet with our salesman today to get the costing of it, we also had a heap more variations including changing the scullery into a second kitchen. We'll see him again next week to hopefully finalise it. Re: HGWA Build at the Village @ Wellard 6Jun 09, 2014 9:03 am You made your own thread, yippee!! Looking forward to following. Love the look of the front of your house, very modern! Re: HGWA Build at the Village @ Wellard 7Jun 10, 2014 7:24 pm Marcia You made your own thread, yippee!! Looking forward to following. Love the look of the front of your house, very modern! Thanks Marcia - I'm not sure if I like the front of the house! I'm going for a subtle Hamptons theme - shades of white and grey, plantation shutters, possibly glass fronted cabinets etc, I'm not sure the "chimney" column fits. This is the Dale Alcock Wisteria - I love it Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The other thing I'm concerned about is the layout of bedroom 3 - this will be our daughter's room, she would like a double/queen bed in the new place and I'm not sure how to make it fit. I don't like the idea of having to clamber over the bed to open/close the blind on that highlight window, but that corner seems the best place for a bed. Yes, it will change the light in the room but it removes the problem with the blind. If lighting is a really big issue for you, maybe add another floor to ceiling window next to the WIR, just a slim one like the other one in the bedroom. Rendered in a nice contrasting colour, you should keep that clean look. Last resort would be too look at other elevations of HG homes and see if there are any you like and talk to the rep about changing the façade ... that option might cost a bit more though. Re: HGWA Build at the Village @ Wellard 10Jun 10, 2014 8:45 pm Thanks Marcia, I was thinking to remove the skinny window and replace it with a skinny awning window, making the other one skinnier too. If we moved them the sides of the room on that front wall, the bed could go in-between them (facing the doors wall). Maybe see about making them 16 course or so we could beside tables in. Could have the wider blade wall like yours. Perhaps also could do the other bedroom windows the same - I like the 3 awning windows on the front of yours Can't have a window on that right hand wall by the way due to 1m setback Our Custom Dale Alcock build in the Village at Wellard https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=78620 Re: HGWA Build at the Village @ Wellard 11Jun 10, 2014 8:55 pm What do you reckon about putting a highlight window in the master bedroom on the outside wall? Above where the bed will probably go. I don't want the room to be too dark, being quite long now Our Custom Dale Alcock build in the Village at Wellard https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=78620 Re: HGWA Build at the Village @ Wellard 12Jun 10, 2014 10:03 pm Wellard2ndTimers What do you reckon about putting a highlight window in the master bedroom on the outside wall? I don't want the room to be too dark, being quite long now Sorry, missed this, been playing netball You've got the sliding doors still coming off the bedroom, I reckon they should let in plenty of light. A highlight window above the bed would work, but it might take the eye away from the sliding door - are you looking to put a feature or seated area etc outside the doors? Hi, yip we are renting here at the minute just waiting on them to start building our house Fab, you weren't at the Residents Association meeting last night were you? Which area is your new place in? We will be near the new park that's on the verge of completion, currently we live in the northern section of the village near Peter Carnley Marcia Wellard2ndTimers What do you reckon about putting a highlight window in the master bedroom on the outside wall? I should probably not bother about it - I just want somewhere in the bedroom to put some lovely white shutters! But I probably don't need the expense of a) the window and b) the shutters I'm going to get a landscape designer involved in our garden plans. I want to do some raised planters, additional sitting area and a sort of "nature play" area for the kids. I reckon it'll be worth the money to have them map out some hardscaping ideas Our Custom Dale Alcock build in the Village at Wellard https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=78620 Re: HGWA Build at the Village @ Wellard 17Jun 10, 2014 10:42 pm Wellard2ndTimers I'm going to get a landscape designer involved in our garden plans. I reckon it'll be worth the money to have them map out some hardscaping ideas On the Rivello base plan there is a sliding door from the master to the alfresco - we moved it to the other side of the room and made it a floor to ceiling window, simply because that side of the house is dead space and we are filling it full of plants. I'm hoping to achieve the look of a winding path with beautiful, lush greenery all along that space ... looking out our bedroom window will be sensational, as will the laundry door and Bed 2. Gardens can look amazing when done properly.
