What are your thoughts on what is a reasonable number of builders to talk to? I was thinking 3, but when you are talking about 4 or 500k, if you pick the wrong 3 you could potentially be well out of the ballpark with pricing? What are peoples thoughts and what have people done in the past. Re: How many quotes/tenders for custom build 3Jun 06, 2014 11:39 am People usually go with 1 high end quote, one well recommended builder and one roughy (a builder you may not know so much about but like the look of their website and past projects etc) This way you get 3 different quotes from 3 very different builders! I'd get the gutters to match your roof and pipes to match the paint - otherwise they become a feature.
