Just waiting game now to hear about the outcome of investigations by the building commission into this company. Will be glad to get some solid info to work out what my next move needs to be. The suspense is killing me Re: My first build: The playground, Coolbellup - Free life h 82Apr 07, 2015 5:56 pm Sorry to hear about the problems you've been having Tom! I hate seeing people all excited over a build only to see it get delayed like this. Although i guess 2 months from slab to bricks seems long, for some builders its on par unfortunately. Hoping you get bricks soon! I just had siteworks start last week and hoping (if the weather holds out) i get a slab this week. Think I'd be crying all the time if i had to wait that long for bricks! Thanks jlo, Thanks for the message. Mines a little more hopeless than that atm, building commission is current investigating the building company and announcements about the future of the company expected soon. Re: My first build: The playground, Coolbellup - Free life h 84Apr 07, 2015 8:21 pm Mmm ive been reading the funny business Freelife has been up to Its annoying when stuff has already happened! Guess if a slab wasnt down you could just break the contract and go with someone else. Hope whatever they're going through doesnt mean more money through the nose for all you guys! Re: My first build: The playground, Coolbellup - Free life h 85Apr 14, 2015 3:54 pm Hi All, A quick update in regards to my build. In short nothing has happened in almost 3 months on site. The much rumoured announcement about the future of the company which was expected last week, was again delayed today. Via this announcement from the company: http://us5.campaign-archive1.com/?u=37b ... 8054d62954 All I can say is, if you are reading this considering Free Life Homes for your build, RUN!! Re: My first build: The playground, Coolbellup - Free life h 86Apr 16, 2015 12:24 am Hi Tom, Really sorry to hear what you and all the other Freelifers are going through. I can't imagine how it must feel for you and the apparently 200 other impacted clients. The letter was confusing in that "our company has experienced unprecedented growth" doesn't seem to fit the situation. I can only speculate, but the "difficulty of accessing trades" is probably by their own doing for "[mis]managing the flow of business". Hopefully it all works out for the best, and soon - at least they seem to be talking again and are acknowledging there's a problem. Hopefully it all works out for the best, and soon - at least they seem to be talking again and are acknowledging there's a problem. Thanks Cameron, There's a lot of flaws in the letter ... My favourite part is the "we have been working day and night" as if to summon an imagine of this sleep deprived team of dedicated experts in lab coats, or maybe I just have an active imagination. Good that something seems to be happening anyway, not actually sure at this point what would be a better outcome, them going broke officially or getting their act together and being tied to them for months (or years) to come. Regardless of the outcome, I think the trust has been irreparably damaged and I'll be having to watch the rest of the build like a hawk, which is energy and time I really don't care to give atm. Anyway enough of the melodrama, how's your build progressing !? You must be close to lock up by now ? The development is starting to shape up. Re: My first build: The playground, Coolbellup - Free life h 88Apr 16, 2015 11:58 pm I pretty much had the same image of their office, but assumed the phone bill hadn't been paid so the line was dead too! For mine, lock-up was on Tuesday and the carpenter is due in tomorrow (Friday). The tiler comes in on the 22nd of April and they've told me "it usually takes about six weeks from lock-up" to finish. If that's the case, they'll be finished in 5 months and 2 weeks from slab down. I've noticed there's a few houses with driveways and blinds up, so I presume there will be a few people living there by the end of the month (if not already)! What's also good to see is that most of the lots have either started construction, or have the builder's signs out the front. The playground, Coolbellup - New building contract signed 92Jun 15, 2015 7:00 pm Hi Guys, for anyone interested, without going into the whole drama with Freelife going into administration and now being wound up... after much time and paperwork with insurance, council, administrators, building commission etc. This week I signed a new building contract with a new builder. Stay tuned for updates- Construction should start back up in the 2-4 weeks. Everything is crossed that I might get keys by xmas (big might). Re: My first build: The playground, Coolbellup - Free life h 94Oct 05, 2015 5:39 pm Hi All, Its been a while now since last posting. Great to see that the playground is starting to look really good, with a lot of places finished or very close to being. Glad also that the majority of Freelife customers seem to be making progress, and some have since completed their homes (based on chat here and on the various FB groups associated with the unfortunate mess. Anyway, happy to report that a lot has happened since last posting here. When Freelife went under, I was at slab down and after a really long road and much paperwork, I'm glad to report that when I last visited site on 26/09/2015 and excited to see I had a roof! Below are a pic of the front and the rear. http://i1281.photobucket.com/albums/a513/firsthomie/Front_zpsatxokfcn.jpg http://i1281.photobucket.com/albums/a513/firsthomie/Back_zpsivngnyh5.jpg Re: My first build: The playground, Coolbellup - Free life h 95Oct 05, 2015 5:58 pm What a relief! Re: My first build: The playground, Coolbellup - Free life h 98Oct 06, 2015 1:37 pm New builder is Don Russell Homes. The difference between them and FLH has been night and day-great communication, great progress, seamless transition between stages. The build was almost at completed roof cover before they'd received the plate height payment. Couldn't speak highly enough of them to be honest (*touching all of the wood*). Glad to hear things are finally falling into place for you. You FLH people have had way too much stress, you deserve a good run! You should pressure clean your roof first and make sure the paint you buy also is anti mould. 4 18565 hi guys. Please be nice. First time home builder in Qld.
