Browse Forums Building A New House 1 May 18, 2014 3:01 pm Hi Champion Home builders, I have been searching this forum and have not been able to find a dedicated topic for Champion Homes. The closest topic relating to Champion Homes so far is in regards to Greenway, Marsden Park - a really useful topic to follow if you are building at Greenway Living. Initially we were reluctant to build with Champion Homes due to some bad online reviews. We noticed that champion Homes were under new management and have taken the plunge! We are building the Novara 245 custom at Greenway and are in love with it. Our experience so far with Champion has been fantastic. Kitchen layout and colour choices are complete. Our only hold up is land registration. Our bulding timeline so far: Feb: Camped out overnight to get priority number, chose Champion Homes, signed tender and building contracts May: Chose internal colours, adjusted external colours, finalised kitchen layout would love to hear from past, present and prospective Champion Home buyers. Re: Champion Homes - Building a new home 2May 24, 2014 4:25 pm We have just received prices for our kitchen upgrades, one of which is the metallic glass splash back. This was. In lieu of tiles and after the tile credit was applied it still cost $3459. Seems a bit steep? Re: Champion Homes - Building a new home 3May 24, 2014 4:27 pm Holy guacamole! Why not call a glass supplier direct and supply dimensions and which type of glass and see what they say? Build thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=65085 Re: Champion Homes - Building a new home 4May 24, 2014 4:30 pm We thought the exact same thing. I couldn't believe it when we saw the price! I found other people on this forum who used the same one and they paid $3100 back in 2012. I Re: Champion Homes - Building a new home 5May 24, 2014 4:39 pm So you think it's the right price? Is it a lot of glass or a special finish or something? Wow.... I don't know glass prices as we're yet to do our splashback but that certainly seems high to me! Build thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=65085 Re: Champion Homes - Building a new home 6May 25, 2014 12:03 am Provide glass splashback to kitchen (colour from the Champion Homes Select Range) ... A$2,790 Would you be happy with this? I may have to reconsider EmyN's advice if I were in your place. Re: Champion Homes - Building a new home 7May 25, 2014 12:26 am I think that's pretty steep. We wanted a mirrored splash back but builder wanted a few thousand. We will do after handover and quotes we got are for around $1,500 (splashback size 2.6 mtrs). The other thing that we've found make more expensive is if they're are any power point they need to cut holes for. Re: Champion Homes - Building a new home 8May 25, 2014 7:53 am Did any of you incur shocking additional charges from Champion Homes due to site costs? Re: Champion Homes - Building a new home 9May 25, 2014 8:21 pm @Vonnie11 we are thinking of doing the same thing and just having it installed after handover. Our splash back is 2600mm x 600mm and it has 2 power point ports - one at each end. @ kaycee we had a look at the champion select colours and weren't 100% happy. We went for a metallic colour, essentially an upgrade on an upgrade. Are you going to build with them at GL? @theziplocks fingers crossed we don't! From street view we appear to have flat land. Of course our builder didn't want to give us a credit back for the included tiles they're not installing. Apparently the cost and labour is the same to put a cement sheet as it is tiles, pft! But I'd rather do it later than pay money for something I'm not happy with. Re: Champion Homes - Building a new home 11May 26, 2014 2:35 pm @Vandine, we with them in Stage 2B. You must be in lot 73 of 2A. Below is what I got: provide 2600mm high ceilings in lieu of standard 2400mm high.....A$4,400 On another note have you paid your stamp duty? Re: Champion Homes - Building a new home 12May 29, 2014 9:46 am Hi Kaycee, I have just paid my $5,589 for stamp duty. We also got the $5000 govt grant. I don't believe we pay stamp duty on the house portion. Re: Champion Homes - Building a new home 13Jun 04, 2014 11:37 am theziplocks Did any of you incur shocking additional charges from Champion Homes due to site costs? No...not yet! But building with them at Greenway I cant imagine that we will be. Greenway have allowed double the amount of spoil removal compared to other builders. i.e. Champion have allowed for 90 lineal metres, all others have only allowed for 45. Hi there!
