New Member and building with sterling homes at two wells and let me say the the stress of building is terrible, this should be one of the best time of your life not the most stressful. We started by choosing the Sienna 215 home by sterling and getting a block more so in a smaller country town through the weeks group. the salesman from sterling that put me on to the new estate said i would have a small green inspection box for the electricity and low and behold when going to look at the block i had a massive green box on the front off the block so we had to get a new block but wasn't to hard the guy at land sales had the block right next door come available, so two lots of core samples i had to pay for. all the plans are now done and we have color selections coming up this week. Was told due to the clay content i have to run a biocycle septic tank that needs 300 square meters of soakage and with out any consultation the engineers and council put the septic right next to my alfresco area ..lmao are these people for real i cant imagine them doing that to their own homes... we have now come to a compromise and i can get what i want and so can the council. Judging by all the comments i have read so far it looks like i still have all the fun ahead of me Also how do i upload pics here Re: South Australia builds 443Dec 04, 2016 9:34 am There sure are a lot of traps and things you simply can't know until after you are already committed. It's a tricky process. It does get better as you absorb all the info. Just ask every question you can even if it sounds stupid. Building a Fairmont Custom in Seaford Meadows Our Build Thread Re: South Australia builds 444Dec 04, 2016 12:13 pm Hi everyone, I've been MIA lately as we've had a lot on our plates and the whole building thing was getting overwhelming - more than once I've thought of just selling the block and buying an established house!! Less stress! We seem to be back on track now though and my stress levels have subsided, and at the end of the day we feel that we are actually going to get a better house now than we were before. Dechellis have been fantastic, they've kept us informed the whole time, communication is great and they went into bat for us with the liquidators too when the legal department decided they needed 'more information'. So our plans have been with the engineers for the last couple of weeks and we are due to pick up our working drawings today to check over, yay! I'm not sure how much more will get done before Christmas but I'm happy things are moving I've been following everyone else's builds and it's so cool watching all the progress and your houses taking shape, I'm looking forward to seeing the next couple start, meshelf and Marshall you are so close now!! Keep the piccies coming so I can live through you all for the next few months Re: South Australia builds 445Dec 04, 2016 12:38 pm TheGirlie Hi everyone, I've been MIA lately as we've had a lot on our plates and the whole building thing was getting overwhelming - more than once I've thought of just selling the block and buying an established house!! It sounds like Dechellis are doing a great job and judging from their display homes, you will certainly end up with a beautiful, good quality home at the end of it all. Fingers crossed that there aren't too many things to change on the drawings. All the best with the rest of your journey and I'm definitely looking forward to adding our pics when the build finally starts Re: South Australia builds 446Dec 04, 2016 12:52 pm paulpinnock Hi All New Member and building with sterling homes at two wells and let me say the the stress of building is terrible, this should be one of the best time of your life not the most stressful. Judging by all the comments i have read so far it looks like i still have all the fun ahead of me I feel your pain, there can be an awful lot of stress attached to building, we for sure have had more than our fair share but, now we are close to going to site and all the hard part is over, I'm really glad that we stuck with it. There was a lot of stress and I even shed a few tears but I'm now so excited that all the bad stuff is almost forgotten (almost!!) Good luck with the rest of the journey and just try and go into it with an open mind, there are many swings and roundabouts but as many people assured me, it'll be worth it Re: South Australia builds 447Dec 04, 2016 6:12 pm Cheers Marshall we are close to the final approval and i guess we will see the final price after the selections, if i can work out how to upload a pic or two ill pop some on this thread with the plans and so on Re: South Australia builds 448Dec 04, 2016 9:48 pm Hey TheGirlie wondered how you were going! Good to hear that things are moving forward. It does get overwhelming, can't imagine throwing in a builder going bust too into the mix. Welcome paulpinnock see you are in the admin phase too.....I found it painful all the waiting - sorry probably not helpful with pics, I find it easer to do it via my phone using the Tapatalk app. South Australia builds 451Dec 06, 2016 7:36 pm Ughhhhhh why must people do that so annoying!! In some good news we met our SS on site, seems like full steam ahead for site works next week if all works out. Be nice to have something to look at before Xmas and the big shutdown! I'm trying to not get my hopes up though!! Re: South Australia builds 452Dec 06, 2016 8:46 pm Oh wow, that's absolutely amazing, really happy for you I'm getting less hopeful that ours will be but I have to just let it go, it won't make too much of a difference. So I have been absent for a while...life has been hectic! But I have been lurking on these and other forums and getting a great deal of useful information.
