Even if you don't have a meter, not toilet, SA water charge you for the privilege ? Thanks for explaining, ahh the hidden costs of building! ? It's really sucky. Be nice if you weren't charged for the honour of having those connections run past your block wouldn't it :/ Re: South Australia builds 230Aug 30, 2016 8:26 pm Yes I know, also the rates bill dread to think what it will be once a house is on the block! Well still waiting for approvals. Hoping will get planning approval notification in next week or so, as that takes about a month? Then a few months for building approval, really hoping to have a slab by Christmas.... Re: South Australia builds 231Sep 01, 2016 2:54 pm I also keep meaning to say, apparently Mitcham charge a premium rate for vacant blocks, once a house is built the rates reduce. It's their way of encouraging people to build... "apparently" LOL meshelf Yes I know, also the rates bill dread to think what it will be once a house is on the block! Haha good to know, it a bit cheeky but guess that is one way to get people to not leave the block vacant for long!!! Recently received the Planning Approval from Mitcham Council...now we are waiting for the Building Consent and then Building Approval....it takes us agessssss We recently received the council rate as well...so many fee to pay.."headache" There is a clause stated in our home contract: The owner is responsible for keeping the site free of all vegetation by means of poisoning and removing the vegetation prior to construction. Does anyone of you being asked to clear the land before construction? How do you do it? How low do we have to keep the grass for? How you can keep it free, what to use? I'm not too sure on the block clearing (we have the same in our contract) so I am following to see what advice you get! Can I ask how long have waited to ger planning approval, have you been waiting long for building. Our building designer had council contact after four weeks of waiting with a few queries, so hopefully we get planning approval this week! Hi Meshelf, we lodged on 30 July, planning approval granted on 9 Sep, that's a long wait. Maybe it is because we are a corner block, they need more time to consider..lol My auntie is building few blocks next to ours, she lodged on 22 June and took about 3 weeks to approve, she is now waiting for the building consent, so do we.
