Still bits and pieces on the external to finish (matrix board, roof over garage, lower roof eaves). Our SS told us that the gyprock have been scheduled for next week. Also, we got an independent inspector for frame inspection next week before gyprock. So that is where we at. Thanks for sharing the blog, love the modification you did, wow, can't believe how big your design is and the alfresco size. Re: Building the Chifley 42 with raw son homes - modificatio 23May 18, 2015 9:37 am Looking good there alexvale! Despite being really happy with what we ended-up building, I still have occasional "what if" pangs about the Chifley we spent so much time on designing. Re: Building the Chifley 42 with raw son homes - modificatio 24May 18, 2015 9:38 am Thanks forg. What changes did you make? Any major regrets or oversights? Follow our blog, its a work in progress but hopefully shares our adventure https://granddesignskillarney.wordpress.com/ Re: Building the Chifley 42 with raw son homes - modificatio 25May 18, 2015 11:43 am I should've expended on that ... ... we were in the process of getting something based on a Chifley 37 designed, when Rawson decided that we were asking for too many things they no longer wanted to provide. We'd started working with them when things were a bit quieter, and I think they wanted to concentrate on customers with much less varied-from-standard requirements! I think the only thing I kinda regret, having gone with Alkira homes, was to choose kitchen drawers that expose the floor underneath & hence need the tiles done first; the painters made a mess of the tiles as a result, and the cleaners were useless. I guess I do sometimes wonder, though, whether the old "if we knew then what we know now" thing had been the case, if the first draught design we'd gone to Rawson with had been closer to the original, we might have built with them & had a house a whole year sooner. I am going to build with Rawson like to know your experience with them Re: Building the Chifley 42 with raw son homes - modificatio 27Jun 20, 2015 9:27 am Hi. Overall out experience has been positive but sometime a little frustration. Our pre construction administrator was quite poor with managing expectations of timeframes and customer service. Our site supervisor is fantastic although there were some things left of final drafting of plans and attention to detail with all of our changes was a little lacking. The house is coming along well and we can't wait to move in. Which design are you building? You then do the electricals and colour selections. Any upgrades from the agreed tender are either added to the tender price and locked in at contract signing or you pay the extra direct to the supplier. We made about $100k of changes to the standard floorplan/fit-out by tender. Conversely, we'll probably only add about $10k between the tender price and the contract price because we put so many inclusions in the tender price Basically, you get what you pay for Building a customised Metford 33 with Rawson Homes in Canberra Build thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=76866 Blog: https://canberragalsmetford.wordpress.com/ Re: Building the Chifley 42 with raw son homes - modificatio 31Aug 04, 2015 12:04 pm Hi everyone thanks for the reply, I really appreciate it. I was wondering did anyone upgrade there bricks? We're thinking of upgrading to one of the smoother ones in the symmetry range from Austral. Re: Building the Chifley 42 with raw son homes - modificatio 32Aug 04, 2015 12:29 pm Hi yes we upgraded our bricks and look fantastic. We rendered the front of the house but the sides are upgraded face brick. Worth the money I think, we also upgraded the roof tiles Follow our blog, its a work in progress but hopefully shares our adventure https://granddesignskillarney.wordpress.com/ Re: Building the Chifley 42 with raw son homes - modificatio 33Aug 23, 2015 4:10 pm We are upgrading as there were no dark bricks in the included range and we are after a dark brick. PGH Espresso is what we think we've selected (we'll have to check availability when we do our colours selection appt in a week's time). Hope you're still active as I know this thread was from some time ago but was just reading over your blog as our Chifley 42 is at the gyprock / sheeting stage and wondering did you arrange the Zip Tap install with / through Rawson or was this something you arranged the supply & install of through someone else after the fact?
