Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jun 01, 2014 4:54 pm Hi We have an 829sqm block with a 3 meter fall from front to back. To try to save on costs we are considering organising an excavator ourselves to come in and level our whole block rather than getting the builder to do. Has anyone done this themselves and how did it go? Do builders have any issues with this generally? We are considering building with Plantation Homes in Brisbane. Thanks in advance for any advice. Re: Doing own site works 2Jun 01, 2014 6:04 pm If it's just excavation over the site of the house you should be OK If you are going to have fill over the house site you will still need to pay for piles through the fill See http://www.anewhouse.com.au/2012/08/bui ... ete-piers/ The Harder You Try - the Luckier You Get ! This to me was indicating to me that they intend to find something 'wrong' with it, so that they could then charge you more, when in reality it all may be done perfect.
