Will provide some photos of plans when I'm on computer. Haven't heard from supervisor yet hopefully within the next few days. Very keen to get under way now! Admin land is a loooong process. All your places look great guys! Re: Regatta 2920 (Planbuild -Brisbane) - Handover complete : 203Oct 17, 2014 2:46 pm kailie86 Great to see someone else about to begin their build good luck with everything! I hope it's smooth sailing. Which design are you building? We found they started within a couple of days of receiving that email, hopefully it's the same for you. Cinquain, how's everything going? Any updates since moving in? Slowly plodding along trying to get everything sorted! We still don't have home phone or internet (using mobile internet) hence my absence, hate internet on my phone. Taking ages to get sorted because as soon as I've done something, something else gets undone by the kids Only things I have issues with so far are: in the downstairs powder room, they missed the row of tiling under the mirror. The floor tiles seem to chip really easily, and very noticeable as they are dark tiles and the chips are white. I would definitely upgrade the paint to 3 coats too. I don't know if my kids are just brutes, but it feels like as soon as you nudge the wall, it chips/dints. All in all, though, very happy with the finished product. Can't wait to get everything done and have our first Christmas here Kaillie and Savish, your houses are looking fab!! Given me some motivation to get more stuff happening! Oh and ETA: Kaillie did your sink hole issue ever get sorted? What a pain not having the internet all this time. Hopefully that gets sorted soon. No we never ended up getting the sink hole fixed by PB. No one could give us an answer and we got sick of waiting for someone to get back to us. The husband ended up just filling it himself and we used some of the turf we dug up for one of the front gardens to lay on top. It has all settled now and and you can barely notice it. Hoping it doesn't sink further after we get all the 'summer storms'. I hear you about the tiles! We have quite a few chipped tiles up the hallway and in the main bathroom although I think most of them were there before handover and we just didn't notice them during PCI as up that end of the house there is no heavy furniture and the main bathroom is rarely used as it's only the 2 of us. Fortunately our tiles are a light grey so not as noticeable, although I see them every time I walk up that end of the house It's definitely not just your children, the walls certainly mark easily!! We were always planning to repaint most of the walls anyway, will probably just happen sooner rather then later. I want to paint the media room soon, I just can't decide on a colour lol. Fans get installed tomorrow which I am so excited about! It's getting so hot at night and without fans/being able to open windows it's not really pleasant lol. My dad has also measured up all windows and sliding doors and the crimsafe screens should all be ready in the next couple of weeks. Will be great to open windows and doors again Overall we are really happy with the finished result and it's just so great finally living in our very own home!!! Can't wait to see photos Cinquain when you finally get the internet connected :-D Modified Miami 31- Brighton Homes https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=91265&f=31&p=1789112#p1789112 Re: Regatta 2920 (Planbuild -Brisbane) - Handover complete : 206Oct 21, 2014 9:06 pm We were impatient and contacted him initially and arranged the first meeting prior to earthworks beginning. :-D Modified Miami 31- Brighton Homes https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=91265&f=31&p=1789112#p1789112 Re: Regatta 2920 (Planbuild -Brisbane) - Handover complete : 207Oct 21, 2014 9:54 pm We have the same issues with tiles here too we have the same colour as cinquian thought it was from the kids too! We still don't have any internet here either, have upped the mobile data plan twice and still go over We are still waiting for planbuild to fix some of the things they didn't do before hand over... Promise to call back and they never do, get sick of chasing them up , if they fixed the things they said they would I would happily say I was pretty well happy overall but not right now. Yay for fans and screens . I had fans put in by pb, BIL is an electrician and said we paid alot , but they have come in handy while we wait on our screens, they are due for delivery this week and installation a few days later. Where are you building Louii383?? Do you know who your supervisor is ?? We never met ours until we were on site one day and he turned up while we were having a sticky beak. His name is Glen whitehead. We are building in Eumundi on the Sunshine Coast. We are a week in from site works. Slab booked for this Monday. Re: Regatta 2920 (Planbuild -Brisbane) - Handover complete : 209Oct 22, 2014 4:03 pm That was our supervisor too. Nice enough to your face but once handover is done they don't want to know you. When you do your PCI (a long way off I know ) but make sure any issues are fixed, we had problems that Glenn said would be fixed and he didn't and 11 weeks on we are still having issues. Good luck with the build things will move quickly once that slab is down. Enjoy the journey! Our advice would be to be patient at the beginning, it can often take them a while to get everything happening but once they get on site everything will happen quickly. One thing that I wished we'd have put more thought into is the placement of power points. Really think about what furniture you want to put where and work out your power points from that. In hindsight I guess we would have hired an independent inspector for each stage, more so for our own piece of mind after reading some other forums and some of the massive errors that have been picked up (with different builders). Apart from the massive sink hole we haven't noticed anything major wrong since moving in. Also when communicating with them be persistent! We found when we couldn't get hold of our SS or he wasn't returning phone calls if we contacted our admin assistant who processed all our claims and she would always have an answer for us within a couple of hours. She was fantastic! Good luck with it. Which design are you building? Thank you for the advice Savish and kailie86. Congratulations on you both on your houses. It's been a while since I last visited this forum.. been very busy with various things.. but we got there eventually. We are building the Peninsula 2160. I've read many comments about power points so I made sure I've got a reasonable number of them around the house. Regarding the SS not answering, I think that's their protocol regarding channel of comms so that the SS does not get flooded with calls and emails - allows him to focus more on the build - I guess. Did you guys encountered any unexpected cost during construction (excluding variations that you wanted)? How long did they take from commencement to handover? Re: Regatta 2920 (Planbuild -Brisbane) - Handover complete : 211Dec 13, 2014 8:45 pm From memory it was about 11/12 weeks from site scrape to handover for us and that included a 1.5 week delay after slab was poured due to some complications with our bank. Have you been given a start date yet? :-D Modified Miami 31- Brighton Homes https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=91265&f=31&p=1789112#p1789112 Re: Regatta 2920 (Planbuild -Brisbane) - Handover complete : 212Dec 13, 2014 8:45 pm Also, we didn't have any unexpected variations. :-D Modified Miami 31- Brighton Homes https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=91265&f=31&p=1789112#p1789112 Re: Regatta 2920 (Planbuild -Brisbane) - Handover complete : 213Dec 13, 2014 11:45 pm BuildingMyFirst kailie86 Great news BuildingMyFirst. Did you guys encountered any unexpected cost during construction (excluding variations that you wanted)? How long did they take from commencement to handover? Our site works starts 5/5 and handover was the 25/7 so just over 11 weeks. No unexpected variations for us however we had to pay for a second retaining wall that we should not of had too so we did have an unexpected expense , we paid planbuild to do the right hand side, bank would not approve until it was paid. Planbuild told us left hand side would be done by neighbour however they failed to do it and were not cooperative at all. Re: Regatta 2920 (Planbuild -Brisbane) - Handover complete : 214Dec 15, 2014 5:23 pm kailie86, they started last week and about to pour concrete this week. Wow! both of your houses (and Savish) got completed pretty quick! That's a bummer Savish. I thought there is a law about retaining wall and all that. I'm pretty sure I've read something when we were still looking for a block of land - I'll try to dig back to my references. Based on various forums and reviews, my wife and I decided to hire an inspector just for additional peace of mind. Ss seems half-hearted about it but hey if that let's us sleep a little bit better at night... though I'm not sure yet how good this inspector is as I haven't met him before so I will be shadowing him in this first stage inspection and decide whether to engage him again for the following stages. Re: Regatta 2920 (Planbuild -Brisbane) - Handover complete : 215Dec 17, 2014 2:04 pm Has anyone here have concrete piers constructed to support the slab? Did you visually confirm that it went in? Re: Regatta 2920 (Planbuild -Brisbane) - Handover complete : 216Dec 17, 2014 2:27 pm BuildingMyFirst Has anyone here have concrete piers constructed to support the slab? Did you visually confirm that it went in? Yes our slab has piers and we did see it done, only by chance we used to check it out every few days. I was trying to find a picture but I don't think I have any that shows it well enough , I remember there was rio poles coming out of the concreted sections. Re: Regatta 2920 (Planbuild -Brisbane) - Handover complete : 217Dec 17, 2014 8:21 pm I went and visited the slab preps. I was not able to see any indication that piers has been installed. I immediately raised the question. The builder advised that it has been installed. Apparently, the engineer who inspected the ground decided that piers are no longer required - meaning it was actually not installed. I'm a bit irritated because if I did not visit the site, I would not have had any clue that the piers have not been installed. Not the best start for the build.. but I hope that the following stages goes smoothly. Lesson for others who are about to enter their house construction - if your drawings shows concrete piers, ensure that you as the client (or your representative) visually confirm that it has been installed in accordance with the design (number, diameter, reinforcement, depth). Note that concrete piers are useless if it is not sitting or embedded into firm natural ground. Re: Regatta 2920 (Planbuild -Brisbane) - Handover complete : 218Feb 15, 2015 5:27 pm Can you believe that we've been in our houses for 6 months already! We are just compiling our list for our 6 monthly maintenance inspection. These are some of the things that we've listed for maintenance: 1. Movement- a couple of the architraves have come away from the wall and the door to the linen cupboard is difficult to close. 2. Chipped glass in a window in the lounge area. It is where they cut the glass and it's not noticeable because of the edging. We only noticed it when hanging blinds but would like it replaced as it creates a weak spot in the glass. 3. Main toilet does not fill back up with water and will therefore not flush unless we lift the case off and lift the pump. 4. The main shower- the silver base around the bottom of the shower (on the outside) has completely corroded underneath the protective film and is all marked and ugly. The ensuite shower is fine so not sure what has caused the main bathroom shower to turn this way. We noticed it about a month after we moved in and that shower is barely used. 5. The tile behind the tap in the ensuite shower is chipped away where they cut it to install the tap and therefore there is a noticeable hole in the wall which worries me as I do not want water getting down there. 6. All our shower/bath taps have been colour coded wrong. They're on the right side according to Australian standard i.e. left is hot and right is cold but the colour codes says it should be hot water but it's actually cold water and vice versa. Hope that makes sense? Doesn't really worry us, only concerned about children using it and not realising. All in all we are fairly happy with everything. Not any huge dramas. Hopefully Planbuild are quick to rectify the problems and don't try to place the blame on us for anything, particularly the shower base. That's our biggest concern and the one thing we desperately want repaired/replaced. What kind of problems have you found Cinquain/Savish? Would be interesting to compare :-D Modified Miami 31- Brighton Homes https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=91265&f=31&p=1789112#p1789112 Re: Regatta 2920 (Planbuild -Brisbane) - Handover complete : 219Mar 11, 2015 8:41 pm Louii383, Savish, Cinquain and Kailie86, how was your overall experience with PB? Rate from 1 to 10, with 10 being the highest. Are you going to build with them again? Re: Regatta 2920 (Planbuild -Brisbane) - Handover complete : 220Mar 14, 2015 10:58 am BuildingMyFirst Louii383, Savish, Cinquain and Kailie86, how was your overall experience with PB? Rate from 1 to 10, with 10 being the highest. Are you going to build with them again? We are fairly happy with the overall experience, I would rate the experience as a 7 out of 10. Communication was their biggest downfall but from what i've read online, that's pretty common for most project home builders. In the end, they built the house we wanted in less then 3 months from site scrape and it seems to be well built (this comment has been made several times by tradies we've had out to do work post-handover). Would we build with them again? probably not, but that's not because of anything Planbuild did/didn't do. When we eventually build again it will be our dream home and it will be with a smaller builder. I think Planbuild offer exceptional value for money, we spent 18 months looking for a builder and we couldn't find another in SE QLD that could match the number of inclusions we got for the amount of money we were will to spend. Our 6 month maintenance request was actioned quickly and all things we pointed out are now in the process of being rectified. :-D Modified Miami 31- Brighton Homes https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=91265&f=31&p=1789112#p1789112 Hello Josh, This is Irving from PRIMA, we are a manufacturer of the staircase, railings, kitchen cabinets, windows, doors from China.
