Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Regatta 2920 (Planbuild -Brisbane) - Handover complete : 181Aug 17, 2014 5:57 pm Well after all the rain we had yesterday it seems we've developed a sink hole . At the beginning of our build they had to dig a trench as there was a problem with the plumbing lead in. The trench was about 6foot deep. Today we've noticed that where the trench was the ground has sunk about a foot, causing our turf to rip apart it's about 2 meters long! We will be calling PB tomorrow, hopefully it can be fixed up soon!!! Cinquain, hope the move went smoothly yesterday, even with the wet weather! :-D Modified Miami 31- Brighton Homes https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=91265&f=31&p=1789112#p1789112 Re: Regatta 2920 (Planbuild -Brisbane) - Handover complete : 182Aug 20, 2014 1:27 pm kailie86 Well after all the rain we had yesterday it seems we've developed a sink hole . Hope it has been resolved. I need to chase pb again they were coming to Fix things but son got sick and was in hospital, then my daughters turn, hoping it's Just about passed the family so we can focus on settling in. Too hard to get anything done with hubby working away and sick kids Re: Regatta 2920 (Planbuild -Brisbane) - Handover complete : 183Aug 20, 2014 6:10 pm Haven't heard anything from them called the emergency number in the folder they gave us. Left a voicemail and never heard back. Rang head office, they told us to call the SS. Did that and he tried to pass the buck, blaming the developer. My husband told him that that we paid them to build the house and that they organised the original huge trench in the first place so it was their job to either fix it or chase up the people who dug the trench to fix it! We were told we'd have to speak to the construction manager (who was the original person we rang!!!) still haven't heard anything. Will give them until Friday and will be calling back again! Seriously not happy and it puts a dampner on the whole experience. Meanwhile the hole had gotten bigger and ripped more turf, if someone tripped into it they'd break their ankle!!! Sorry to hear your kids are still sick. Hopefully everyone will be on the mend soon and you can enjoy being in the new place. :-D Modified Miami 31- Brighton Homes https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=91265&f=31&p=1789112#p1789112 Re: Regatta 2920 (Planbuild -Brisbane) - Handover complete : 184Aug 20, 2014 6:49 pm Good ol' planbuild, great service till you hand over the money. I hope someone gets back to you. They pointed the finger at one and other saying oh we told them to call you... Yeh right. They also told Me they would follow up with me... I haven't had time to call anyone between the kids but hope to next week.hope to hear it sorted soon so you can enjoy your new house. Know what you mean about putting a dampner on the experience. That's how I felt When they never cleaned the house and fly paint all over tiles and paint brushes On stone benches... Still waiting for the $$ they supposedly pay a cleaner for because clearly it wasn't cleaned Building with Planbuild - Claremont 2715 - Outer North Brisbane Re: Regatta 2920 (Planbuild -Brisbane) - Handover complete : 185Aug 22, 2014 9:18 pm I've been following this thread and I find it very helpful. I'm in the process finalising fixed price with PB... anyway, any lessons learned along the way? stuff that you would have change if you have known? Re: Regatta 2920 (Planbuild -Brisbane) - Handover complete : 186Aug 22, 2014 10:41 pm Great news BuildingMyFirst. Enjoy the journey! Our advice would be to be patient at the beginning, it can often take them a while to get everything happening but once they get on site everything will happen quickly. One thing that I wished we'd have put more thought into is the placement of power points. Really think about what furniture you want to put where and work out your power points from that. In hindsight I guess we would have hired an independent inspector for each stage, more so for our own piece of mind after reading some other forums and some of the massive errors that have been picked up (with different builders). Apart from the massive sink hole we haven't noticed anything major wrong since moving in. Also when communicating with them be persistent! We found when we couldn't get hold of our SS or he wasn't returning phone calls if we contacted our admin assistant who processed all our claims and she would always have an answer for us within a couple of hours. She was fantastic! Good luck with it. Which design are you building? :-D Modified Miami 31- Brighton Homes https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=91265&f=31&p=1789112#p1789112 Re: Regatta 2920 (Planbuild -Brisbane) - Handover complete : 187Aug 23, 2014 10:31 am Have to agree with being patient for the paperwork stage, takes forever. Once construction starts things move along quickly. We had issues with them not cleaning our house before hand over and leaving quite a mess behind but apart from that no other major issues. Our colour slectiob appointment was very rushed and not a lot of other options were discussed, happy with the colour selections now but would of liked to of been offered different tap ware and kitchen sinks, also the laundry layout. We added extra PowerPoints and tv points but I probably still needed a few more. Goodluck with it all. Did you get to the bottom of the sinkhole issue ?? We are copping heaps of rain and the backyard wasn't really levelled to drain at the drains so have a feeling in going to have to get out there and dig around to make the water drain away. I was very close to signing with PB, but decided against it and chose another builder. I hope your build goes well. Re: Regatta 2920 (Planbuild -Brisbane) - Handover complete : 189Aug 24, 2014 7:07 pm Savish Did you get to the bottom of the sinkhole issue ?? We are copping heaps of rain and the backyard wasn't really levelled to drain at the drains so have a feeling in going to have to get out there and dig around to make the water drain away. Haven't managed to get a call back yet so we put the issue in writing and emailed them late last week, Hope to get a response soon. It does seem as though its sunk about as far as its going too though so thats good. We had a massive amount of rain Friday and Saturday again, our drainage seems to be in order though so no issues there, however with all the watering of the new turf and the massive amounts of rain last weekend its very muddy and hard to get around outside without sinking in some of the softer areas (near drains etc). :-D Modified Miami 31- Brighton Homes https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=91265&f=31&p=1789112#p1789112 Re: Regatta 2920 (Planbuild -Brisbane) - Handover complete : 190Aug 29, 2014 9:45 pm I'm about to pay for a tender with PB (and one other builder). I'm building an investment property and live in Sydney so I need a company who is going to do everything. Just a question on cooling - I'm going to get ducted air but is it necessary to have ceiling fans too? I've noticed that security screens are all the rage too. Land at Chermside At tender stage Re: Regatta 2920 (Planbuild -Brisbane) - Handover complete : 191Aug 29, 2014 10:07 pm zozo I'm about to pay for a tender with PB (and one other builder). I've noticed that security screens are all the rage too. @zozo Wow ducted AC in an investment property! It really depends on the person. I personally am not a big fan of AC or the running costs however QLD summers can be pretty unbearable sometimes. Our AC gets used about 5-10 times a year, on the other hand our ceiling fans get used for about 4-6 months of the year. Security screens again come down to personal preference, however i would recommend at the very least fly screens on all windows. We like security screens for the reassurance that we can leave a window open and not worry too much as opposed to a flimsy fly screen, but realistically fly screen, security screen or no screens if someone wants to break in they will find a way. :-D Modified Miami 31- Brighton Homes https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=91265&f=31&p=1789112#p1789112 Re: Regatta 2920 (Planbuild -Brisbane) - Handover complete : 192Aug 30, 2014 8:04 pm Have to agree with kailie86 on the use of fans especially in qld. We had the aircon removed from out package but added fans in every room, will add aircon later if it gets hot enough. I rented a house with just aircon and no fans and I hated it, not always hot enough for aircon and at least fans circulate some air. I think security screens look ugly so we opted for fly screen for now and eventually want to upgrade to crimsafe. Loving the way everything is coming together and we are just loving living here. I was actually thinking crimsafe when I said security screens. The security grill over the flyscreens look terrible, crimsafe looks much better. But @zozo some sort of screens are almost a necessity. :-D Modified Miami 31- Brighton Homes https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=91265&f=31&p=1789112#p1789112 Re: Regatta 2920 (Planbuild -Brisbane) - Handover complete : 195Aug 31, 2014 7:21 pm Wow kailie86, looking amazing you must be so pleased.
